INTRODUCTION
 Corruption is a type of strategic action.
 Two or more people undertake an exchange
relation by way of a successful transfer of money or
power which sidesteps legality or morality to
regulate the relation.
 India is the 84th most corrupted country in the
world.
 A corrupt society stops valuing integrity, virtue or
moral principles.
 It exploits India’s scarce resources.
 Derail country’s credibility and economic stability.
 The recent scams tells us about free loot of
resources and the power of having big “surnames”
like Tata’s, and Ambani’s.
MAJOR AREAS OF CONCERNS:
 Politics and bureaucracy.
 Land and property - Where officials steal state
property.
 Service sector – Like education, banking,
communication , health care etc. Eg: Non-
availability of medicines, fake medicines.
 Income Tax Department- Favorable tax treatments.
 Armed Forces – Allegedly selling defence stores in
black market in border districts of India.
 Religious institution- Some of the churches of North
India are making money by selling baptism
certificates.
CAUSES OF CORRUPTION
 Lack of effective management and organization of
administrative mechanism.
 Lack of economic stability.
 Lack of effective political leadership.
 Diminishing values in the society.

 Second Generation wireless telephone technology.
 Three primary benefits of 2G networks:
 Phone conversations were digitally encrypted.
 Greater mobile phone penetration levels.
 2G introduced data services for mobile, starting
with SMS text messages.
2G SPECTRUM SCAM
 The 2G spectrum scam in India involved the issue of 1232
licenses.
 Price set as per 2001.
 Under pricing of 2G spectrum resulted in heavy loss of
176,379 crore rupees.
 Spectrum allocation process to favor select companies.
 This issue came to light after option of 3G services.
 The scam came to public notice when Subramanyan
Swamy filed a case to Supreme Court.
 Bandwidth of Defence department was sold.
The scam involved allegations regarding:
 The under pricing of the 2G spectrum by the Department of
Telecommunication.
 It resulted in a heavy loss to the exchequer.

CONCLUSION
India is a fast developing country in the world
where our systems are weak. So there is always a chance of
corruption. Who is responsible for this? What action should
be taken? What we must keep in mind is “ Nothing is
Impossible”. If we join our hands together there can be an
end to this deep rooted evil. The only thing is it takes time. A
little progress everyday leads to a big result one
day………..may be tomorrow. Be Good and Do Good.
