The session proposes Istio as an enabler for migrating to Microservices. Istio is an implementation of service mesh, a technology useful for migrating to Microservices iteratively and safely. We explain how Istio can be used as a bridge and enabler for modernizing legacy Monolithic applications to Microservices.

A company that uses Lotus Notes teamrooms; DocLibs; workflow/process apps can decide to:
1) Migrate or face out (shut down) the applications
2) If the strategy is to face out, the company still might want to archive the apps and documents in the cloud (we extract all Notes/Domino applications data and attachments into an open RDBMS solution such as SQL Server or MySQL. We then “migrate” the applications to a “read only” format that provides you with a view into your data with the same look and feel of the original Notes application, but delivered in a browser and without the need for any Lotus Notes infrastructure.)
3) If the strategy is to migrate. Migration of apps can take place to standard functional process applications such as Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, etc or to Microsoft/Java platform as n-tier application
