● Digital wallets first appeared with the launch of
PayPal in the late 90s.
● Bas user experience and a lack of internet
access meant they were not widely adopted at
first.
● Everything changed with the launch of the
iPhone in 2007.
● Initial adoption was slow, but usage continued
to rise over time.
● Digital wallet usage was supercharged during
the pandemic.
