Franchising Sonic Drive-In Restaurants
Franchising Sonic Drive In Restaurants What is a Franchise: A franchisee pays an initial fee
and a percentage of profit to a franchisor; in return, the franchisee gains the use of a trademark,
ongoing support from the franchisor, and the right to use the franchisor s system of doing
business and sell its products or services. Why I chose this restaurant: I have chosen sonic drive
in because this restaurant is in the USA and is very well known for its fast food chains and roller
skate competitions and it has many franchises but all of them are in the USA that is why i would
like to bring this product to UAE, and also I think that many people from the USA would eat in
this restaurant because it would make them feel bit like home and maybe... Show more content on

However the system won t be anything new for Dubai as drive thrus are common and sales will
rapidly build up. INITIAL INVESTMENT LOW: $1,070,000 HIGH: $1,967,000 it serves about 3
million customers per day and already has 3147 franchises in the state it also owns 382 other
companies, its revenues today are worth almost $546 million with net income of $19 million. I
think it would be a great name to franchise in Dubai because it is one of the USAs most famous
fast food shops and in Dubai we have many foreign people some from the USA, other than that it is
cheap like macdonalds so many people can afford it because of it low food pricing. It is also good
as it will be drive ins which is a very common system and very efficient here in Dubai where we
have drive thrus for everything that exists

Ap Euro Case Study
Euro
1.What is the euro?
The euro is the currency that is used by these European Union countries: Belgium, Greece, Cyprus,
Spain, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Malta, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Portugal, the Netherlands,
Slovenia, and France.
2.What does the symbol mean?
The symbol means the same as the $ dollar for Canadian currency. The deeper meaning for the euro
symbol is that it means stability (the two parallel lines across the symbol) and Europe (the symbol
represents an E in Greek).
3.When did the euro replace the old currencies in the member countries?
The euro completely replaced the old currencies in the member countries in January 1, 2002 but
was introduced in January 1, 1999.
4.Would it not have been better for European Union ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because these stable currency countries have been given an artificially weak currency
meaning that their exports are more competitive globally. As well, it has widened these countries
market since most of their exports go to the countries who also use the euro, not the entire European
Union s free trade places as the euro makes transactions more efficient (it eliminates the foreign
exchange risk).
5.What economic advantages do participating member states enjoy over non participating members?
The economic advantages that participating member states enjoy over non participating members
are low inflation (due to its stability), more price transparency (consumers can compare prices more
easily), less currency exchange costs, a more powerful global voice, protection from external
economic shocks (ex. an unexpected rise in oil prices), easier travelling within the European Union,
and more international trade (the low currency value increases the competitiveness of these
countries exports and this currency has a higher total stability).

Compare And Contrast Jocasta And Oedipus
Oedipus: obligation to save Thebes and find Laius killer vs suspicion of prophecy в†’ oedipus is a
good person в†’ accepts his fate
Jocasta: desire for control vs fear of fate в†’ she is unable to accept that she cannot control her life
в†’ cannot accept her fate в†’ kills herself
Meaning of Play: disaster can befall anyone в†’ learning to accept this will humble you and allow

While Ancient Greek tragedies are purely fictional, their themes are based on prevalent issues in
society at the time. Historians often attribute the Second Peloponnesian War to the arrogance of

But unlike Oedipus, Jocasta handles her situation through hypocrisy and denial. As the play
progresses, it becomes obvious that Jocasta is terrified of the idea that her life is influenced by
the gods. Instead, she forces herself to believe that life is governed by the operations of chance.
Nothing can be clearly foreseen. The best way to live is by hit or miss, as best you can (53).
Jocasta s life best resembles a balance, with the evidence to support the prophecies on one side
and how much she can ignore on the other. She convinces herself that prophetic power does not
exist, yet attempted to avoid the prophecy of Laius death by sending their child into the
mountains. When Laius died, Jocasta reasoned that it was due to chance, thus proving the
prophecy wrong. But the moment the Corinthian messenger revealed where he found Oedipus
as a baby, Jocasta s balance tipped. Not even Jocasta, who could ignore Oedipus injuries to his
ankle and the meaning of his name, could overlook the proof. In her desperation to retain control
of her life, Jocasta begs Oedipus to not interrogate the shepherd, and when he refuses, she takes
her own life. Ultimately, Jocasta is revealed as a character who would do anything to avoid the
truth. When the prophecies came to fruition, Jocasta realizes that she never had any control over
her life. Unlike Oedipus, Jocasta refuses to accept her fate, and in her final act of defiance, an act
she deems as her own, she commits

The Discrete Event System
In the Discrete Event Systems (DES) literature, deadlock avoidance for sequential, complex
resource allocation sys tems (RAS) is a well established problem that arises from many
contemporary technological applications [1], [2]. In its basic positioning, this problem concerns the
coordinated allocation of the system resources to concurrently executing processes so that every
process can eventually proceed to its completion. In particular, by utilizing the information about
the current allocation of the system resources and the available knowledge about the structure of
the executing processes, the applied control policy avoids the visitation of RAS states from which
deadlockis inevitable.
The work presented in this paper is an extension and an application of the symbolic framework
that has recently been proposed in [3], [4] for the computationally efficient de velopment of the
maximally permissive deadlock avoidance policy (DAP) for various classes of RAS. More
specifically, by modeling any given RAS instance in the modeling frame work of the extended finite
automata (EFA), the approaches

With the growing competition in the market, the profitability of the plant had declined which
greatly concerned the top management. After reviewing the situation, it was found that the
human element was the biggest hurdle in achieving the set targets. There was a need to bring in
attitudinal change, as both, the absenteeism and the union interference were high. This union
was formed after the workers had felt that the management was exploiting them. Most of the
workers had been there since the inception of the plant and the turnover was almost negligible.
There was a strong union present in the plant, which was affiliated to INTUC. The plant
managers entered into a long term settlement with the union to set the daily wages and the terms
and conditions of work. The long term settlement was renewed every 3 years. The workers were
working in 30 day night shifts in a month. Being a textile unit, it was a process industry wherein
hurdle at one point of the process would stop the whole production. Moreover, if there were
delay in the takeover of the shift, the output of the entire day would be affected. In the matters of
indiscipline, the workers were charge sheeted and dismissed arbitrarily. In chronic cases, the
worker had to wear a badge with a slogan I will not repeat the mistake again for the entire day on

throughout the tale of Bisclavret. Even though Bisclavret assumes the form of a werewolf, he still
remains a better human being than his wife, due to the presence of shame and inner beauty in his
being, which is lacking in his wife. Bisclavret s wife concerns herself with external appearances

transforming into a werewolf. The way in which Bisclavret chooses to attack his wife mirrors the
major themes of betrayal and vanity present throughout the work. To begin, immediately after

System Administration and Me Essay
System Administration and Me
What is system administration? System administration is basically adding and configuring new
workstations, setting up user accounts, installing system wide software, performing procedures to
prevent the spread of viruses, and allocating mass storage type. While there are a lot more things
that make up the job description of most system administrators, these are the ones that I ll be
touching on in this report. But before getting into what that stuff means, let s talk a little bit about
what s required for a system administration position.
Many things are needed. First and foremost, you should have some knowledge in hardware. If you

But luckily, you don t have to know everything about them. A good, solid foundation in an
operating system is usually enough. If you know all of the commands, or know where to find them,
you should be fine.
When you get a firm grasp on operating systems, then you should learn some other software.
Things such as Perl, Oracle, and Apache are good to know. Perl is a programming language that
can be used to create many, many things. Among them being web sites. The system
administrator is oftentimes called upon to also double as webmaster for the company.
Therefore, knowing how to create and maintain a web page is very helpful. Oracle is a database
program. It would come in handy for keeping track of employees...where they go while on the
internet, their phone number, salary, and a number of other things. Apache is a server software.
It got its name from being a spin off of a previous software that was patched (a patchy). It hosts
more than 50% of all the sites in the world. As before, there is almost an infinite amount of
knowledge of software that could all be helpful, but knowing everything is almost impossible. So
if you don t know it all, don t worry. You can always take classes at LSSU!!
Ok. Now that we have the basics out of the way, let s get back to some of the job descriptions.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Litigation
The litigation is the formal and conventional way in dispute resolution over the centuries of time.
Courts are traditional, recognizable forums in which litigation is adjudicated (Kennedy and
Richards, 2004). Even though there are number of methods available outside the court system
litigation is still act a major role in dispute resolutionas the conventional method.
But with the time people identified limitations of the system which created uncomfortable
situations to users due to certain drawbacks hold with the litigation system. Through litigation
successive governments has ensured that people are delivered with justice and adjudicated on their
disputes. Even though disputes are resolved through litigation people come across so many
difficulties, such as stress, expenditure, delay and bitter arguments that pave the way for further
disputes.
A major issue on using litigation for labour disputes is frequent postponements awarded in hearing a
case in the courts. According to Sivananthiran and Ratnam (2003) the most prominent cause
responsible for delay in adjudication is frequent adjournment granted by the Labour Courts. Both
workmen and employer seek adjournment after adjournment at each of the above stage and this
contributes to the delay in dispute resolution process.

Barry thinks that he found the perfect excuse for them this time. Men always come up with
some reason to not clean things. Dave Barry emphasizes that men are just not able to do
housework because of how their brain works. He uses the excuse that all men just don t see or
feel the mess that is going on. Dave Barry goes on throughout his article to say that men cannot
detect dirt like women can. This is just another excuse men use so they don t have to clean. All
men and women are capable of cleaning, even if they don t see the dirt. If something has not been
cleaned in while, it is going to need to be cleaned, no matter if men or women want to clean it. Men

Possible Causes and Effects of Internet Addiction
Psychodynamic focuses on the conscience and unconscious mind of an individual where as
Behaviourism, is based on the behaviour of the individual without taking into account any thoughts
of the individual. The two theories are both deterministic and both believe that our current
behaviour is a result of previous events. A behaviourists would suggest that psychologyis a science
of behaviour, not a science of mind, the sources of an individual s behaviour is external, in the

Those who practice behaviour therapy are called behaviourists and tend to look more at specific,
learned behaviours and how the environment has an impact on those behaviours. (2) They tend to
look for treatment outcomes that are objectively measurable. (3) Most behaviour therapists use
interventions, structured interviews, or different behavioural rating forms, these different
assesments are used so the therapist can determine exactly what the individuals problem may be. As
behaviour therapists believe that current behaviours arise from previous physical events, I do not
think that this therapy would be best suited to a paitent with an Internet addiction disorder, I believe
that the patient has an underlying disorder such as depression and or anxiety. Researchers suggest
that persons with social anxiety disorder often feel more comfortable using online communication
methods versus face to face interactions due to high levels of fear and anticipation of threat and
negative evaluation associated with live interactions. Furthermore, research has established a clear
connection between social anxiety and problematic internet use but little is known about the
specific factors involved in this connection. (4) Internet addiction disorder has only recently been
taken into consideration, and has been added as a form of impulse control disorder Impulse control

Jamacia Kimcaid s Girl
Girl is a story by Jamacia Kimcaid and it is about a mother who has a series of instructions for
her daughter on how she should live her life. She constantly accuses and ridicules the girl about
being a slut and singing calypso songs in church. She tells the girl how she must plant foods, how
she must take care of herself and her house so as not to reveal herself as a slut . Her tone changes
towards the end when she tells the girlto touch the bread at the bakery to see if it is right, to which
the daughter asks what to do if the baker doesn t let her. The mother then says what kind of girl is
she that the baker won t even let her touch bread? The mother is seemingly unreasonable and cruel
towards the girl who seems honest and innocent as she listens to her mother s instructions on how
to complete the tasks in her life. One theme of this story is that of a jealous or vindictive mother
that thinks of her child as no good and commands her to be good she must obey everything she

Military Force in ThailandВґs Political System
As far as we understand, since the military coup d etat which takes place in 1932, military force
has been one of the major actor in the political system. Unlike political leader and political parties

Therefore, the intervention in the politics is itself because of the sense of responsibility of the
military force to correct what is seem to be incorrect by the political leader of the civilian
Government. This is because, in Thailand, the military force is not answerable to the civilian
Government, but they are only answerable and accountable to the Nation and the King of
Thailand. That is the main reason, why before, a military coup de tat takes place, the Thai Royai

For the United States, the Gulf region remains one of the most geo strategically important locations
in the world for diplomatic, intelligence cooperation, and business opportunities such as
hydrocarbons and arms. This strategic cooperation has provided the region some stability,
particularly with the rise of Iran and the Shi a crescent and the chaotic outcome of the war in Iraq.
The council members have also relied on the United State to fend off some of the domestic
challenges to the existing regimes that are both internally and regionally rooted.
The Gulf houses half of the world s oil reserves and a third of the natural gas. The Gulf States still
continue to supply the international markets with a significant amount of the hydrocarbons. The
stability of the region is crucial for the stability in the global oil markets. The Gulf also hosts one
of the most strategically and important choke points in global trade, The Straits of Hormuz, which

I.INTRODUCTION A tumor is a mass of cell that is formed by accumulation of abnormal cells. The
complex brain tumors can be categorized on the basis of their origin, growth pattern and
malignancy. It can be detected as benign or malignant, benign being the non cancerous and
malignant the cancerous.
The diagnosis of brain tumor is difficult because of the diversity in shape, size and location in the
brain. Medical imaging helps in the detection of tumor, there are various techniques like MRI, CT
scan, Ultrasound and X ray. We are taking Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) into consideration.

Illinois, more than 97% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Peoria. When compared
to other communities with a similar population size, Peoria s crime rate is higher than average (
Crime Rates for Peoria, IL ). Like most cities, Peoria is going to have records of violent offenses
including things like rape, murder and non negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated
assault. But different areas of Peoria are going to differ on their crime rate based on the class level
that lives there and the security precautions taken in that area. Because a lot of students will be
living off campus in houses or apartments, it is important for Bradley to understand the likelihood
of a crime involving those students might face while not

Preventing Dental Caries with School based Sealant Program Establishing school based sealant
program at local elementary schools through in terpersonal communication can protect the general
population from developing dental car ies by 60% (Oral Health 310). According to the article, Oral
Health, the prevention of dental cariesin young students is essential to protecting not only dental
health but also their overall physical health as dental caries may affect their health negatively
due to built up bacteria and malnutrition caused by decreased consumption from dental pain (Oral
Health 312). School aged children are the most at risk group for developing dental caries.
College students in Health Psychology could help to protect dental health of children by
increasing the number that get pit and fissure in several different ways. College students
involved in a service learning project will be divided in to three different groups. One group will
be responsible for calling the parents or meeting with them in order to educate them and answer

Explain The Four Functions Of Management
The four Functions of Management Management is the process of using organisational resources to
achieve the organisations goals through planning, organising, leading and controlling. These
functions are set of activities directed at an organisations resources with the aim of achieving
organisational goals in efficient and effective manner. Henri Fayol was the first to describe the four
managerial functions in the later 1880s. He noted that managers at all levels, in both for profit and
not for profit firms must still perform each of the following functions. Planning Organising Leading

Which goals should be pursued? 2.How should the goal be attained? 3.How should resources be
allocated? The planning function determines how effective and efficient the organisation is and
determines the strategy of the organisation. Planning involves setting objectives and determining a
course of action for achieving these goals. Planning requires managers to be aware of their
environmental conditions facing their organisation and forecast future conditions. And also
requires managers to make quick and beneficial decisions. Planning consists of a process that
involves several steps. The process starts with environmental scanning which makes planners aware
of critical contingencies facing their organisations such as economic conditions, competitors and
customers. Planners must be able to predict the future conditions. These predictions form the basis
of the planning. Planners must have an objective or objectives, such as what needs to be achieved
and when it must be achieved. They must recognise an alternative course of action when achieving
these objectives. After much evaluation of these courses of action planners must decide which is
the best plan for achieving these objectives. They will then need to convey the necessary steps
which will be taken to implement the path chosen. Final planners will need to evaluate the success
rate of their plan and correct any faults in their plan where

Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing
Section 2 Literature review
The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New
Zealand and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face
in doing so. It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers.
2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business
Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is
important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a
very comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is
growing and Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure
that high speed internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New
Zealand to have the best network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet
by businesses throughout the country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are
connected with internet. The economic performances of these firms depend on how well they use
it. Apart from the availability of internet, it is vital to note the way businesses use internet by to
improve the way they do business. Most of the businesses in New Zealand do not use internet to
its full potential, as proved from the World Wide Web Foundation (2012) ranking. New Zealand is
ranked 17th in the world for its ability to extract economic value from

The Generation Of The United States
The Generation
1)Ellis sees the founding of the United States as phenomenal because the U.S. brought together
people of all different factions and beliefs in order to overthrow the reigning regime. He also
believes it is phenomenal because the United States was able to survive and become a nation that
was brought up upon an argument between state and federal sovereignty. In addition, to fight in the
revolution and win against Britain s best army and navy, the U.S. had to carve its own path with
unprecedented steps. Dues to the challenges the republic faced and overcame, the founding of the
United States is truly phenomenal in Ellis s eyes.

Those who saw nearsighted felt that America had no sense of national unity, and nothing to bring
them together except for the common wish to separate from Britain.
4)Combining the opposite perspectives that Ellis writes about on the founding of our country, the
central paradox of the revolutionary era is created. This paradox is that despite the massive
advantages America had provided by geographic isolation and bountiful natural resources, the
points used to justify the separation from England are the same reasons that overwhelmed the
government leaders who would oversee the new population and unify the 13 sovereign states.
5)Critics of the Constitutional Convention highlight many of the same faults in the convention.
One of these criticisms is that the convention was only to revise the Articles of Confederation not
to replace them. In addition, the meetings of the Convention were held in secrecy and the matters
discussed stayed private from majority of the average citizens. The reason behind this was because
the fifty five delegates were a group of elites that were hardly a good representation of the
population as a whole. Another criticism was that the southern delegates abused these meetings by
using them to obtain assurances that slavery would not be abolished in the south.

Oxidative Stress Lab Report
Biochemistry of Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress
The research was done by Sabry M. El Bahr at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, P.O. Box 22758, Alexandria University, Egypt. The overall purpose of this
experiment was to study the causes of oxidative stress that is caused by free radical. It is known that
the free radicals and the Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are used interchangeably. ROS can
damage DNA, biomembrane lipids, proteins and other macromolecules. The primary source of
ROS is the leakage of electron from the respiratory chain during the reduction of molecular oxygen
to water generating superoxide anion. The classification of ROS includes oxygen centered radicals
and oxygen centered non radicals. Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The system can take care of those reactive oxygen species, some of them are enzymes, including
glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase which are the most major antioxidant
enzymes that are capable to minimize oxidative stress in the organelles, and some are non
enzyme antioxidants such as glutathione, selenium, vitamin C and E. Oxidative stress is when
the balance is in favor of oxidase, so when the antioxidants systems in the cell cannot keep up,
something gets out of whack and things start to come oxidized. This can happen in a lot of
ways, we have endogenous sources of ROS; things that are happening in the cell like aerobic
cellular respiration where the ROS are being produced as a result of some byproduct or some
cellular process that supposed to be occurring like electron transport in cellular respiration or
breaking down fatty acid and peroxisome.
In this study, scientist found that there are levels of free radicals reactivity of the compounds that
are being produced in the cell; some with least reactivity such as H2O2, and some are highly
reactive such as OH. The free radicals can affect the cell negatively. One of the element that
generates free radicals and causes oxidative stress is cadmium. It increases lipid peroxidation and/or
changes intracellular glutathione levels. However, investigators found that some plants such as
curcumin is a natural drug that works

Comparison Of Le Corbusier And Vitruvius
Although Le Corbusier and Vitruvius had important and crucial statements, I find that Vitruvius
claims made more sense and is clearly more intensified that Le Corbusier s minor statements.
Vitruvius influenced the entire field of architecture and design by his statements, and not just by
words. We can see the results of Vitruvius claims and drawings in buildings and temples and not
just in words. His statements were put to life by the buildings that he was inspired to assume his
claims. On the other hand, we can notice that Le Corbusiers statements, although important, they
did not leave a huge influence in the field of scale. The Modular has not actually replaced the inch
and foot and the metric system. Till now the problems of unit conversion still exist, and the claims
of abolishing these obstacles were not fully set. For instance, the circle of Vitruvius is way more...

Corbusier also used the human body as a reference for the measuring unit the Modular . The human

consider the sacraments to be a visible symbol of the reality of god, as well as a means by which
God enacts his grace.

Ellen Moore (A): Living and Working in Bahrain
1. What would you advise Ellen to do and why? What should be her objectives? Are there
objectives and actions consistent with what you would do if you were in her situation?
Even though Bahrain tended to be more progressive than many Middle Eastern countries in its
attitude toward women, there were still many inequalities between genders. The current situation is

This case showed a cultural difference between America and Bahrain based on their diversified

Rather than letting it be, she fought back to make the situation better and convince many people

High Stakes Testing Is An Educational Strategy
High stakes testing is an educational strategy that affects students, teachers, and society as a whole.
The topic of high stakes testing has been supported and discredited by many educators, politicians,
and citizens. Nationally, schools are using high stakes testing for a variety of reasons. The
American Educational Research Association discussed high stakes testingand issued a statement that
read:
Many states and school districts mandate testing programs to gather data about student achievement
over time and to hold schools and students accountable. Certain uses of achievement test results are
termed high stakes if they carry serious consequences for students or educators. Schools may be
judged according to the school wide average scores for their students. High school wide scores may
bring public praise or financial rewards; low scores may bring public embarrassment or heavy
sanctions. For individual students, high scores may bring a special diploma attesting to exceptional
academic accomplishment; low scores may result in students being held back in grade or denied a
high school diploma. (Marchant, 2004, p. 2)
The mere definition of high stakes testing carries a combination of both negative and positive
implications. The intentions set out by policy makers can be seen as positive but the apparent
negative effects are also visible. The concern with high stakes testing does not lie solely in the fact
that there are negative implications but rather that the negatives

How To Write A Persuasive Paper
The importance of writing, I found, was in what you wrote about and its purpose, writing helps

persuasive and research papers, but there is also poetry, fiction, creative, narratives, and even
more.. I feel I have grown as a writerin the organization, wording and lead ins of papers. I also

Analysis Of My Last Duchess
In the poems studied, love and death are presented in very different ways. My Last Duchess is a
dramatic monologue, which describes the Duke s obsession with his Duchess. Similarly, Do not go

the death of your partner.
The title My Last Duchess demonstrates from the outset the Duke s obsession by the use of the

voice exemplifies his need to dominate and possess even the dialogue. The curtain I have drawn

exterior of a garment, thus creating an exoskeleton (Heyns, 2011). This is evident in every design
due to the different techniques that she implemented. In this collection one can also see that the
muscular and skeletal systems are taken and distorted and warped to create remarkable designs. The
fractural shapes in the garments, also contributes to an anatomical silhouette. Suzaan describes her

The Ideas Of Sexuality And Suspense In Alfred Hitchcock s...
Elliot, Alan R (2010b), There is a look to Hitchcock films and the way they are put together that

produced a bunch of movies and sixteen talkies films including The 39 Steps, Blackmail and
The Man Who Knew Too Much. According to the Hitchcock s Blackmail in Spectacular Hong

Pixar Animation Studios
Pixar Animation Studios Pixar has a very interesting early history. It began in 1979 as the
Graphics Group, which was one third of the Computer Division of Lucasfilm[ 0]. After moving
to Lucasfilm, they worked on creating the precursor to RenderMan[ 1], called REYES, meaning
renders everything you ever saw and developed a number of critical technologies, including
particle effects and various animation tools. After parting ways with Lucas film, Pixar became a
corporation in 1986 with funding by Apple Inc.[ 2] co founder Steve Jobs[ 3], who became its
majority shareholder. The Walt Disney Company[ 4] bought Pixar in 2006 for $7.4 billion, which
made Steve Jobs Disney s largest shareholder. Pixar started as a... Show more content on

Following Pixar shareholder[ 15] approval, the acquisition was completed May 5, 2006. The
transaction catapulted Steve Jobs, who was the majority shareholder of Pixar with 50.1%, to
Disney s largest individual shareholder with 7% and a new seat on its board of directors. Jobs
new Disney holdings surpassed holdings belonging to ex CEO Michael Eisner[ 16], the
previous top shareholder, who still held 1.7% and Disney Director Emeritus Roy E. Disney[
17], who held almost 1% of the corporation s shares. Disney and Pixar studios did not mean that
the two studios were merging, however. In fact, additional conditions were laid out as part of
the deal to ensure that Pixar remained a separate entity[ 18], a concern that analysts had
expressed about the Disney deal. Some of those conditions were that Pixar HR[ 19] policies
would remain intact, including the lack of employment contracts. Also, the Pixar name was
guaranteed to continue, and the studio would remain in its current Emeryville, California[ 20]
location with the Pixar sign. Finally, branding of films made post merger would be DisneyPixar
. Pixar has produced thirteen feature films[ 21], beginning with Toy Story[ 22] in 1995. Toy
Story was one of my favorite films at the time. The animation was groundbreaking for its time. It
was followed by A Bug s Life[ 23] in 1998, Toy Story 2[ 24], 1999, Monsters, Inc.[ 25], 2001,

Poor People in the Bible.
1.From the book of Amos, state how the poor and needy were afflicted. (4)
In the book of Amos, the poor were treated as outcast and were discriminated against. The
government collected taxes from the poor such as rent thus fine buildings were built and pleasant
vine yards were established. Selling the righteous for money and the needy for a pair of sandals
tells us a lot about the social conditions of that time when the poor had to fight for their just rights,
which were all too frequently ignored.
2.Explain three ways in which the poor and needy are exploited in the world today. (6)
The poor are out casted and treated as an abomination because people think they don t want to better
themselves but yet they know they cannot help it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mother Teresa grew famous for humbly ministering to lepers, the homeless and the poorest of the
poor in the slums of Calcutta. In 1928 Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu joined the Sisters of Our Lady of

years taught school in the country. In 1950 she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a new order
devoted to helping the sick and poor; the order grew to include branches in more than 100 cities
around the world, and Mother Teresa became a worldwide symbol of charity, meeting with
Princess Diana and many other public figures. In 1979 Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Prize
for Peace, and in 1985 she was awarded the Medal of Freedom from the United States.

Impact Of Beethoven On The Development Of The Symphony...
Discuss the impact of Beethoven on the development of the symphony until Mahler. Difficult as it
may be to define the true relationship of an artist to his successors, this difficulty is enormously
increased when the subject is as complex a man and musician as Beethoven. His role as both a
preserver of the eighteenth century tradition1 and a pioneer of romantic self expression, has
secured his status as one of the most revered composers in the history of Western music.
Throughout his symphonic cycle, Beethoven s own journey of self discovery can be very clearly
heard. The Third, Fifth, Sixth and Ninth symphonies were particularly pioneering; they used new
ideas such as programme music, orchestral and symphonic expansion and the prolongation of
dissonance, inspiring a new generation of romantic symphonists. However, there is an equally
strong argument, suggesting that musical fashion and history had turned away from Beethoven
towards the end of his life. In the music of his immediate contemporaries, with the exception of
Schubert perhaps, his work hardly played a vital force and it was not until the latter half of the 19th
century that his influence began to dominate the musical scene. Composers such as Brahms and
Bruckner developed the motivic and intrinsically musical ideas in Beethoven s music whilst others
such as Berlioz, Liszt, Mahler and Wagner embraced the extra musical programmatic ideas.
Through an extension of Beethoven s work in both of these strands, his legacy

Ethical Effects Of Albinism
Life is not fair, get used to it, said Bill Gates (2000). Bill is actually true, especially for people
who were born with albinism in Africa. Instead of their sickness, a high number of albinos in
Africa are often tortured by people who do not comprehend about albinism. They treat albinos like
just an animal or a product which is invaluable in the black market. Newman (2016) found that
albinismis one of the genetic diseases that caused by a mutation gene. This gene is the key to create
melaninthat found in the color of retinas, hair, and skin. This is why albinos have pale skin, white
or blond hair and reddish eyes. Albino s body is totally sensitivity and fragile. In an unfortunate
way, many of witchdoctors in Africa strongly believe that using parts of albino s body or their
bones as an ingredient in the worship will bring a good fortune and wealth, so these cause an
immoral albino hunting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Under The Same Sun (UTSS) which is the Christian charitable organization,
albinism can be found 1 in every 5,000 15,000 people in Africa and 1 in 19 people carry a gene. In
Africa, albinism is prevalent than other countries because of the motherhood in the same relative.
Although many people in Africa still treat albinos with prejudice and also hunt them for a
superstition worship, it is generally accepted that albinos in Africa should not be hunted, injured or
killed just because of the unverifiable belief. People should be conscious that they are one of the
humans who want the cognizance like other people and should stop assault them

The Leafy Lilly Irrigation System is a Rube Goldberg machine that waters a plant using a system
of twelve simple machines. This machine is started with five books, used as third class levers,
which are good tools to use when you want to transfer force without the outcome varying from
the original goal that was in mind when building the machine. When the last book is knocked
over, it falls off of a ledge and hits an inclined plane that allows the book to easily travel a greater
distance by letting it use some of its gravitational potential energy. As the book slides to the end of
the inclined plane, it comes into contact with a wheel and axle that has a plow like attachment on

Newton s second law of motion is that the rate of change regarding the momentum of an object is
directly linked to the force acting upon it. Newton s third law of motion is that when something
applies a force to a another piece of matter, there will be an equal and opposite reaction. The LLIS
is mainly constructed around Newton s first law, as all of the simple machines are still until the
machine that is put into motion before it puts it into motion. Newton s second law is used in LLIS
when the car is rolling down the inclined plane, and when the pulley slides down the zipline. Both
the zipline and the car are put into motion by the simple machine before it. But after it is put into
motion, the force of gravity pulls it closer to the ground and increases the speed that machine was
originally traveling at. Newton s third law takes place in the LLIS in every single simple machine.
The machines that are in the LLIS are all applying a force to the surface that they are placed on.
Because they apply that force, they rest on the surface underneath

(University of Phoenix, 2015). Lately the moral of the staff has been a huge concern at BIMS due
to the high turnover rate. The rate has been higher than usual and management feels moral has a

employee was a manager or a supervisor. The data collected is a combination of quantitative and
qualitative data. The quantitative data collected is the combination of years the employee has
worked with DMC and the number of employees within the company. This type of data can be
categorized on the nominal level of measurement. In data coding BIMS used numeric codes to
represent the nominal, ordinal and internal level of measurements. In Exhibit A of the report, it
describes how the company coded the employee s data numerically. Descriptive statistics including
the average, mean medium and mode were used to describe the middle of the scores or ratings and
to reveal the findings of the survey.
Data Evaluation Sally and other staff members input the survey data. Sally decided, while
entering the data, she would give a zero score to any unanswered questions. Sally made some
errors to the data when she mistakenly entered fives as sixes. She also converted the length of
time the employees worked in years to only months. Sally entered some of the data incorrectly

The Influenza (DBQ) In 1918 a new and unknown virus emerged causing the Influenza pandemic
to spread worldwide. It diffused from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. The pandemic
lasted until 1919 but its effects were very shocking to the population as it was so deadly it killed
more than 50 million people and infected about 20% to 40% of the population. In the early 20th
century, when the influenza was barely spreading, many people had a negative feeling, they felt
fear, therefore, it led to many responses. In some cases, people responded with religious measures,
as they believed it was a message from God, therefore, their actions toward the epidemic were

and treatment provided by the government. In most cases because they couldn t find help or
because they were abandoned by other residents. In Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian newspaper

epidemic. He wants to inform both the Brazilians and the health agency that even though it is
obvious that the illness is spreading since there has been much publicity, the agency is choosing
to ignore it and the author is blaming them for not taking the actions necessary with when all the
ships from unknown ports are arriving but there are no sanitary care measures being done, which
can also be a cause of the spread (Doc 6). In document 9, an American resident of British Samoa

  • 2. Franchising Sonic Drive-In Restaurants Franchising Sonic Drive In Restaurants What is a Franchise: A franchisee pays an initial fee and a percentage of profit to a franchisor; in return, the franchisee gains the use of a trademark, ongoing support from the franchisor, and the right to use the franchisor s system of doing business and sell its products or services. Why I chose this restaurant: I have chosen sonic drive in because this restaurant is in the USA and is very well known for its fast food chains and roller skate competitions and it has many franchises but all of them are in the USA that is why i would like to bring this product to UAE, and also I think that many people from the USA would eat in this restaurant because it would make them feel bit like home and maybe... I think it would be a great name to franchise in Dubai because it is one of the USAs most famous fast food shops and in Dubai we have many foreign people some from the USA, other than that it is cheap like macdonalds so many people can afford it because of it low food pricing. It is also good as it will be drive ins which is a very common system and very efficient here in Dubai where we have drive thrus for everything that exists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The euro is the currency that is used by these European Union countries: Belgium, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Malta, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Portugal, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and France. 2.What does the symbol mean? The symbol means the same as the $ dollar for Canadian currency. The deeper meaning for the euro symbol is that it means stability (the two parallel lines across the symbol) and Europe (the symbol represents an E in Greek). 3.When did the euro replace the old currencies in the member countries? The euro completely replaced the old currencies in the member countries in January 1, 2002 but was introduced in January 1, 1999. 4.Would it not have been better for European Union ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because these stable currency countries have been given an artificially weak currency meaning that their exports are more competitive globally. As well, it has widened these countries market since most of their exports go to the countries who also use the euro, not the entire European Union s free trade places as the euro makes transactions more efficient (it eliminates the foreign exchange risk). 5.What economic advantages do participating member states enjoy over non participating members? The economic advantages that participating member states enjoy over non participating members are low inflation (due to its stability), more price transparency (consumers can compare prices more easily), less currency exchange costs, a more powerful global voice, protection from external economic shocks (ex. an unexpected rise in oil prices), easier travelling within the European Union, and more international trade (the low currency value increases the competitiveness of these countries exports and this currency has a higher total stability). 6.Why did the United Kingdom not adopt the ... Compare And Contrast Jocasta And Oedipus Oedipus: obligation to save Thebes and find Laius killer vs suspicion of prophecy в†’ oedipus is a good person в†’ accepts his fate Jocasta: desire for control vs fear of fate в†’ she is unable to accept that she cannot control her life в†’ cannot accept her fate в†’ kills herself Meaning of Play: disaster can befall anyone в†’ learning to accept this will humble you and allow you to see your own flaws While Ancient Greek tragedies are purely fictional, their themes are based on prevalent issues in society at the time. But unlike Oedipus, Jocasta handles her situation through hypocrisy and denial. As the play progresses, it becomes obvious that Jocasta is terrified of the idea that her life is influenced by the gods. Instead, she forces herself to believe that life is governed by the operations of chance. Nothing can be clearly foreseen. The best way to live is by hit or miss, as best you can (53). Jocasta s life best resembles a balance, with the evidence to support the prophecies on one side and how much she can ignore on the other. She convinces herself that prophetic power does not exist, yet attempted to avoid the prophecy of Laius death by sending their child into the mountains. When Laius died, Jocasta reasoned that it was due to chance, thus proving the prophecy wrong. But the moment the Corinthian messenger revealed where he found Oedipus as a baby, Jocasta s balance tipped. Not even Jocasta, who could ignore Oedipus injuries to his ankle and the meaning of his name, could overlook the proof. In her desperation to retain control of her life, Jocasta begs Oedipus to not interrogate the shepherd, and when he refuses, she takes her own life. Ultimately, Jocasta is revealed as a character who would do anything to avoid the truth. When the prophecies came to fruition, Jocasta realizes that she never had any control over her life. Unlike Oedipus, Jocasta refuses to accept her fate, and in her final act of defiance, an act she deems as her own, she commits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Discrete Event System In the Discrete Event Systems (DES) literature, deadlock avoidance for sequential, complex resource allocation sys tems (RAS) is a well established problem that arises from many contemporary technological applications [1], [2]. In its basic positioning, this problem concerns the coordinated allocation of the system resources to concurrently executing processes so that every process can eventually proceed to its completion. In particular, by utilizing the information about the current allocation of the system resources and the available knowledge about the structure of the executing processes, the applied control policy avoids the visitation of RAS states from which deadlockis inevitable. The work presented in this paper is an extension and an application of the symbolic framework that has recently been proposed in [3], [4] for the computationally efficient de velopment of the maximally permissive deadlock avoidance policy (DAP) for various classes of RAS. More specifically, by modeling any given RAS instance in the modeling frame work of the extended finite automata (EFA), the approaches Z. Fei and K. With the growing competition in the market, the profitability of the plant had declined which greatly concerned the top management. After reviewing the situation, it was found that the human element was the biggest hurdle in achieving the set targets. There was a need to bring in attitudinal change, as both, the absenteeism and the union interference were high. This union was formed after the workers had felt that the management was exploiting them. Most of the workers had been there since the inception of the plant and the turnover was almost negligible. There was a strong union present in the plant, which was affiliated to INTUC. The plant managers entered into a long term settlement with the union to set the daily wages and the terms and conditions of work. The long term settlement was renewed every 3 years. The workers were working in 30 day night shifts in a month. Being a textile unit, it was a process industry wherein hurdle at one point of the process would stop the whole production. Moreover, if there were delay in the takeover of the shift, the output of the entire day would be affected. In the matters of indiscipline, the workers were charge sheeted and dismissed arbitrarily. System administration is basically adding and configuring new workstations, setting up user accounts, installing system wide software, performing procedures to prevent the spread of viruses, and allocating mass storage type. While there are a lot more things that make up the job description of most system administrators, these are the ones that I ll be touching on in this report. If you know all of the commands, or know where to find them, you should be fine. When you get a firm grasp on operating systems, then you should learn some other software. Things such as Perl, Oracle, and Apache are good to know. Perl is a programming language that can be used to create many, many things. Among them being web sites. The system administrator is oftentimes called upon to also double as webmaster for the company. Therefore, knowing how to create and maintain a web page is very helpful. Oracle is a database program. It would come in handy for keeping track of employees...where they go while on the internet, their phone number, salary, and a number of other things. Apache is a server software. As before, there is almost an infinite amount of knowledge of software that could all be helpful, but knowing everything is almost impossible. So if you don t know it all, don t worry. • 13. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Litigation The litigation is the formal and conventional way in dispute resolution over the centuries of time. Courts are traditional, recognizable forums in which litigation is adjudicated (Kennedy and Richards, 2004). Even though there are number of methods available outside the court system litigation is still act a major role in dispute resolutionas the conventional method. But with the time people identified limitations of the system which created uncomfortable situations to users due to certain drawbacks hold with the litigation system. Through litigation successive governments has ensured that people are delivered with justice and adjudicated on their disputes. Even though disputes are resolved through litigation people come across so many difficulties, such as stress, expenditure, delay and bitter arguments that pave the way for further disputes. A major issue on using litigation for labour disputes is frequent postponements awarded in hearing a case in the courts. According to Sivananthiran and Ratnam (2003) the most prominent cause responsible for delay in adjudication is frequent adjournment granted by the Labour Courts. Both workmen and employer seek adjournment after adjournment at each of the above stage and this contributes to the delay in dispute resolution process. 2.5.3 Labour tribunals It is the most popular ... Men always come up with some reason to not clean things. Dave Barry emphasizes that men are just not able to do housework because of how their brain works. He uses the excuse that all men just don t see or feel the mess that is going on. Dave Barry goes on throughout his article to say that men cannot detect dirt like women can. This is just another excuse men use so they don t have to clean. All men and women are capable of cleaning, even if they don t see the dirt. Men just make excuses because they would rather spend their time cleaning a car or watching a football game instead of actually cleaning around the house. Possible Causes and Effects of Internet Addiction Psychodynamic focuses on the conscience and unconscious mind of an individual where as Behaviourism, is based on the behaviour of the individual without taking into account any thoughts of the individual. The two theories are both deterministic and both believe that our current behaviour is a result of previous events. A behaviourists would suggest that psychologyis a science of behaviour, not a science of mind, the sources of an individual s behaviour is external, in the environment, not internal. The psychodynamic approach studies the relationship between the mind and personality of the individual, and the theory beleives that a person s behaviour is driven by emotions, mental aspects, and subconscious forces. As behaviour therapists believe that current behaviours arise from previous physical events, I do not think that this therapy would be best suited to a paitent with an Internet addiction disorder, I believe that the patient has an underlying disorder such as depression and or anxiety. Researchers suggest that persons with social anxiety disorder often feel more comfortable using online communication methods versus face to face interactions due to high levels of fear and anticipation of threat and negative evaluation associated with live interactions. She constantly accuses and ridicules the girl about being a slut and singing calypso songs in church. She tells the girl how she must plant foods, how she must take care of herself and her house so as not to reveal herself as a slut . Her tone changes towards the end when she tells the girlto touch the bread at the bakery to see if it is right, to which the daughter asks what to do if the baker doesn t let her. The mother then says what kind of girl is she that the baker won t even let her touch bread? The mother is seemingly unreasonable and cruel towards the girl who seems honest and innocent as she listens to her mother s instructions on how to complete the tasks in her life. Military Force in ThailandВґs Political System As far as we understand, since the military coup d etat which takes place in 1932, military force has been one of the major actor in the political system. Unlike political leader and political parties that aims to win election in order to form the Government and at the same time have a control on the power; on the other hand, the militaryforce of Thailandwhich is commonly known as Thai Royal Army feels that they are the stateman , which are responsible for the future of the state. Therefore, the intervention in the politics is itself because of the sense of responsibility of the military force to correct what is seem to be incorrect by the political leader of the civilian Government. This is because, in Thailand, the military force is not answerable to the civilian Government, but they are only answerable and accountable to the Nation and the King of Thailand. It is known that the free radicals and the Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are used interchangeably. ROS can damage DNA, biomembrane lipids, proteins and other macromolecules. The system can take care of those reactive oxygen species, some of them are enzymes, including glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase which are the most major antioxidant enzymes that are capable to minimize oxidative stress in the organelles, and some are non enzyme antioxidants such as glutathione, selenium, vitamin C and E. Oxidative stress is when the balance is in favor of oxidase, so when the antioxidants systems in the cell cannot keep up, something gets out of whack and things start to come oxidized. This can happen in a lot of ways, we have endogenous sources of ROS; things that are happening in the cell like aerobic cellular respiration where the ROS are being produced as a result of some byproduct or some cellular process that supposed to be occurring like electron transport in cellular respiration or breaking down fatty acid and peroxisome. High school wide scores may bring public praise or financial rewards; low scores may bring public embarrassment or heavy sanctions. For individual students, high scores may bring a special diploma attesting to exceptional academic accomplishment; low scores may result in students being held back in grade or denied a high school diploma. • 48. Impact Of Beethoven On The Development Of The Symphony... Discuss the impact of Beethoven on the development of the symphony until Mahler. Difficult as it may be to define the true relationship of an artist to his successors, this difficulty is enormously increased when the subject is as complex a man and musician as Beethoven. His role as both a preserver of the eighteenth century tradition1 and a pioneer of romantic self expression, has secured his status as one of the most revered composers in the history of Western music. Throughout his symphonic cycle, Beethoven s own journey of self discovery can be very clearly heard. The Third, Fifth, Sixth and Ninth symphonies were particularly pioneering; they used new ideas such as programme music, orchestral and symphonic expansion and the prolongation of dissonance, inspiring a new generation of romantic symphonists. However, there is an equally strong argument, suggesting that musical fashion and history had turned away from Beethoven towards the end of his life. In the music of his immediate contemporaries, with the exception of Schubert perhaps, his work hardly played a vital force and it was not until the latter half of the 19th century that his influence began to dominate the musical scene. Composers such as Brahms and Bruckner developed the motivic and intrinsically musical ideas in Beethoven s music whilst others such as Berlioz, Liszt, Mahler and Wagner embraced the extra musical programmatic ideas. Through an extension of Beethoven s work in both of these strands, his legacy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
