Areas to Consider When Making Your
Advertisement
1. Images—What is used? Where they are placed? How they create
balance? How the image ‘addresses’ the target audience
2. Colour—Why are certain colours used? How do certain colours
highlight areas of the advertisement? The balance of colours
3. Font—What size of font will be used? When will the font size,
type or style change, why? How does writing work with images
and/or colour?
4. Language—What tone do you wish to create? How will this be
done with word selection, sentence types tense, voice, ect?
5. Integration of Text and Images—Where they are placed, the
ordering, layout, sequencing?
6. Mise-en-scene—How is the mes appropriate for the genre?
All of the above must relate to the genre.
