Sociological Effects Of Climate Change
Sociological Effects of Climate Change Sociologist perform an important role in the study and
report on climate change for our world. For example, in order to understand the effects of climate
change, sociologists study the implements of healthcare workers, influences directing politicians to
report or not report climatechange, big industry holders and what is at stake for them to lose or
gain, and the effects on the community by the decisions of these entities. The global skepticism and
uninformed views of climate change, a direct result of poor media reporting, government negligence,
and industries pay offs, impede the movement to counteract climate change from further destroying
the welfare of our world. To better inform societies around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

this is one reason why doctors must take a lead in speaking out. (p. 312) Correlating the health care
decline of humanity to the effects of climate change, physicians can develop a new function in
society and educate their patients about climate change during a routine exam. The global goal,
through all these different directives, remains to inform societies and develop mitigation efforts.
However, whether the world understands or acknowledges climate change or not, the damage
caused by their negligence still accumulates at the expense of defenseless people. Several countries
neglect to adequately address climate change issues because wealthy industries fear the loss in
dividends and stifle the government from taking action while creating bias information for the
community. Often, conflict theory construes the best way of assessing the action of the powers to
be oppressing certain communities in order to achieve financial luxuries. The article, Does climate
change worsen resource scarcity and cause violent ethnic conflict, written by Lyal S. Sunga (2014),

Operations Management Definition
Operations Management Definition
Introduction In today s fast paced ever changing business world, organizations must deal with many
diverse issues. These issues range from maintaining their competitive edge in a fierce marketplace
to social, ethical and concerns regarding the health and well being of their employees. The advent
of new technologies has created organizational efficiencies however; it is a well known fact that
healthcare has lagged behind other industries with regard to automation. Healthcare is being asked
to provide high quality care with increased efficiency yet the patient population believes they are
not receiving quality care. McCleave (1996) states that health care managers should look to
manufacturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be accomplished by instituting processes to get patients in to see the respective provider
in a timely manner, and addressing all of the issues in an individual encounter. McCleave (1996)
documents other methods to increase productivity and quality in the healthcare setting. One would
be to create an environment where the physician does only what he needs to do. This means that
physicians need to shed duties that can be handled efficiently and in a cost effective manner by
ancillary personnel, registered nurses or physician s assistants. Office efficiency is another area
where improvements are possible. Processes should be evaluated as they relate to patient
encounters and non value adding steps should be eliminated. When one considers all the
aforementioned possibilities for increasing efficiency it is very likely healthcare will not only
realize cost savings but will be able to provide quality healthcare to the patient population thereby
reducing the possibility of patients returning to the office on an emergent basis.
Conclusion
Operations management is as stated by Henderson is an evolutionary position that is needed for
healthcare to prosper. Healthcare it is in a state of enormous change and is faced with economic,
regulatory, technological and consumer pressures that must be addressed in order for the industry
to fulfill its mission. Operations management will play an integral role in healthcare

Billy Collins Poetry Analysis
My analysis is on introduction to poetry by Billy Collins. Collins relays the message that
readers should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning.
Poetry is something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in
this poem. The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide
resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different
light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different
way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a
brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions
what are they doing? Where are they? And what s going on in the picture? By referencing an image
on the slide it also references something that holds image, and holds information that can appear
dark or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It makes the reader experience the sound or energy of the poem such as danger, anticipation, or
excitement. The part of the poem that says I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe
his way out has great interpretation because sometimes it a poem you can get lost in all the
different meanings. Collins wants you to get inside of the poem and really explore it. This also
gives a clear image of a mouse in a maze working through our problem of how to get out. It s not
a straight shot from the beginning of a poem to the end, it is an intricate maze. When the poem
reads or walk inside the poem s room and feel the walls for a light switch is in reference to when
you are in the dark about what the meaning is and you want the light of understanding to be turned
on. It s as if Collins is asking us to find the place in the poems that makes the light bulb come

The Revolution Of Modernism And The Mesopotamian Architecture
A building is designed for functionality. This principle has served as the cornerstone of architecture
in the United States and throughout the world since the first hut of the Mesopotamian civilization.
As the centuries go by, this principle started to deviate. With a series of political debris left over
from the World War II, the Cold War
and the revitalizing economic policies of the Reagan Era,
Canadian American architect Frank Gehry was able to shatter the established architectural norm of
the modern era and pen an iconoclastic style called deconstructivism in the postmodern 1980s,
leaving a resounding legacy in the architectureindustry.
The social and political debris remaining by the end of World War II and the Cold War stifled the
possibility of a new architectural movement. The revolution of modernism, a form of architecture in
which function dictated form, in the postwar decades turned into a routinized corporation that
headed towards unpromising directions as it instigated the diminishment of architectural meaning
and artistic expression. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after completing in 1978, the house still appeared to be under construction, wrapped in
materials out of an industrial catalogue. The house retained its essence as a perpetual construction
site, exemplifying Gehry s contradictory mixture of the ordinary and the avant garde. Combining
modernist form making with common materials, he had the courage to exploit the implicit freedom
of the American middle class neighborhood. This method became a first in the United States and
caught the attention of critics. In spite of the first evidence of an imminent prominence, Gehry had
to hone the power of architecture to counter the forces of capital; otherwise, its capacity to sustain
any critical role could be largely

Alligator Compare And Contrast
Alligators are in the same family as other large reptiles like Crocodiles but are native to only two
countries, which are the southern USA and China (where the Alligator is now nearly extinct).
Alligators tend to be smaller than their Crocodile cousins but have been known to move at speeds
of up to 15mph on land making them one of the fastest large reptiles in the world. Despite their size,
there are a number of distinct differences between Alligators and Crocodiles as an Alligator s snout
is shorter than that of a Crocodile, and with their mouths shut, an Alligator s teeth cannot be seen
but a Crocodile s can. Alligators are also commonly known as Gators in their native, southern North
American habitats. Alligator Anatomy and Appearance Alligators

Sex Drugs And Roll Essay
Sex, drugs and rock and roll. These were the values of the young generation of the mid 1960 s.
This generation was pushing the limits of sexual, social, and political inhibitions and behind the
force of their hippie love was the engine of psychedelic rock and roll music. This genre of rock
music is inspired by the counterculture scene of the 1950 s and 60 s and attempts to capture the
mind altering feelings and emotions attached to psychedelic drugs. The first group to advertise
themselves as psychedelic rockwas the 13th Floor Elevators from Texas, at the end of 1965.
However, the partnership of drugs and music goes back much further than that. The Beat
Generation writers in the second half of the 1950 s, such as William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac and
Allen Ginsberg, used and wrote about drugs like cannabis and Benzidrine, which popularized and
raised more awareness of drug use. The culture of drug use had long pervaded jazz... Show more

famous psychedelic era bands, The Doors, arose out of Los Angeles. Many other cities outside of
California also contributed to the progression of psychedelic music, such as New York City,
Detroit, Chicago, and even Austin, Texas. Psychedelic music was also becoming more prominent
in the UK around 1966. Bands like Pink Floyd, Traffic, Soft Machine, Cream, and The Jimi
Hendrix Experience (lead by an American, but initially produced and managed in Britain) were all
incorporating more drug references and psychedelic elements. For example, The Rolling Stones
incorporated many psychedelic hints into their hit singles 19th Nervous Breakdown and Paint It,

Incest in Greek Mythology Essay
Incest in Greek Mythology
Incest in Greek mythology was a common occurrence. Part of the reason is that the gods
themselves set the example, and since everything that happened in society was the result of the
passion of the gods, this, of course, gave the characters in the Greek plays the opportunity to also
lust after their children and relatives. While the story of Oedipus the King is the delineating play on
the subject, Greek mythology is full of incestuous relationships.
The gods who inspired the love and hate relationships among families include Hermes, who used
his magical use of language to lure the feelings of his brother Apollo away from jealousy to love.

Hermaphroditus is the child of Zeus, Aphrodite, Athene, and Poseidon, and therefore cursed with
being its own lover (Sharman Burke and Greene 82). In addition to these incestuous relationships,
are relationships that Zeus has with his children. For example, Dionysus is attached to his thigh.
Among mortals lives that were influenced by Zeus, Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, husband and
wife, were the children of Zeus and Leda. Although they had different earthly fathers, the incestuous
relationship between Agamemnon and Clytemnestra brought a curse upon their house for two
generations. It was finally destroyed by Orestes, their youngest son, whom Justice allowed to go
free.
Agamemnon was particularly cursed, although he was the victor at Troy. The reason for this curse
is that Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, and Agamemnon s earthly father Atreus were in the habit of
eating and sacrificing their own children to appease the gods. But the imagery created by
Aeschylus of these acts of sacrifice is also that of incestuous acts and their consequences.
Aeschylus writes in Agamemnon, Look! See them sit, there on the wall, like forms in dreams,
/ Children butchered like lambs by their own kindred. [1219 1220] The reason that Aeschylus
portrays the children as sitting is because Agamemnon was sitting at the meal in which Atreus
served up the flesh of his son for

the basic life insurance, including regardless of their age, but if an agent wants a higher

being a federal agent requires most of the individual s time, they still get days off. The number of

Bob Marley Haile Selassie and Rastafarian Bob Marley Marley Documentaire Nederlands

the career of Bob Marley. Bob was born of a mixed race of people, because of that Bob experienced
separation and he felt as if he had no true place. Bob was not born of wealth; therefore, he grew
up poor and challenged. His family lived in poverty and he was forced to live in his
circumstances good and bad. As Bob evolved he learned that he had a talent that was music. He
soon decided his place in life and he found his purpose. Bob believed that he was a man of God,
who purpose was to provide life in music. My thoughts toward this film is Bob Marley is another
person who used his adversities to develop his character and strengths. It appears that Bob Marley

THE SECOND COMING BY WILLIAM YEATS Essay
William Butler Yeats, a multitalented individual won the Nobel Prize in 1923. Born the son of a
well known Irish painter and religious skeptic had many influences in his life. Eventually, he
converted to Paganism from Christianity. He is till this day considered one of the greatest poets
that ever lived. To understand the meaning of William Butler Yeats poem The Second Coming ,
you must first understand the difference between Christianity and Paganism. Yeats was raised as a
Christian and turned to pagan mysticism later in his life. Therefore, we can find the subject of this
poem by tracing his flow of thought through Christianity up to the point when he diverged from it.

He receives a vision from the spirit of man in the same way that one would supposedly receive a
vision from the Holy Spirit and is converted. After his vision he uses the phrase now I know,
which suggests knowledge from some higher power similar to divine wisdom. In this new light
we can assume that Yeats was relaxed with the idea that since there is no good or evil in the
world, only what is natural (Nature is like a cycle), there is no need to be worried by events such
as those that are taking place. Furthermore, there then is no need to feel guilt for one s actions.
After his vision Yeats is sure of two things: that history is repeating itself, even if the new era is
an altered form of the old one, and that he is a member of the new paganism . This explains the
awe that fills the poem in its closing. An illustration of a rebirth into Paganism will be filled
more with fear and awe than love for this reason: Christianity worships God in his love as a
being of supreme good, but pagans worship the spirit of the world as a being of supreme power.
Furthermore, his cadence in the last phase of the poem implies that he is almost speaking with
reverence to the spiritus mundi and a quite disdain for what he sees as a flaw in Christianity. This
brings us to the final two lines in The Second Coming , And what rough beast, its hour come round
at last/ slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? This first sums up the poems theme of a Second
Coming of paganism as opposed

Importance of Hunting
Importance of hunting.
Like baseball and apple pie, hunting is an American tradition shared by young and old, rich and
poor, regardless of social or economic status. Three out of every ten people are against hunting but
for what reasons? What makes them stand out from the seven out of ten that are for hunting? My
preference supports hunting for many reasons. Hunting is important because without it there
would be animals struggling to survive because of the shortage of the nutrient food they need on

An Experiment On The Water Of Water
Abstract
No matter how water came to exist on Earth, there is no denying that it has become the basis for
life as we know it. From the largest animal, to the smallest microbe, water is essential. Microbes,
in particular, have made water their homes and their diversity within these freshwater aquatic
habitats was tested in this experiment and the hypothesis put forward was that cleaner water,
pond B, contained a higher biodiversity as compared to dirty water. Water from two different
freshwater ponds, A and B, was collected and placed in beakers, six slides of each water sample
were prepared carefully and methyl cellulose was added so the movement of microbes could be
inhibited. The entire section under the cover slip was viewed and no area was left out of view,
this was done by using an overlap of view method. Organisms spotted were identified using a key
and the names and numbers recorded. After all observations, a table was created and further
information was extracted from the table and put into graphs. It was found that dirty water
contained a high biodiversity than cleaner water and the original hypothesis put forward was
rejected.
Introduction
The origin of water on Earth remains a hotly debated topic among the scientific community. The
most widely accepted theory is that millions of years after the Earth was formed, the planet was
bombarded by numerous comets and asteroids (Earth Investigated, 2008) and water, in the form of
ice was released into the atmosphere and

grandma, I ve been bullied as a younger kid because of my really big glasses but thank god for

In the world of literature, there are many great world that blow the minds of readers and
historians everywhere. However none of these works of literature have caused a great effect in the
world quite like Don Quixote De La Mancha, a novel written by Miguel de Cervantes in the 1600s.
Don Quixote de la Mancha is the jewel of Western Literature. It is the most commonly translated
and read book in the universe of Spanish literature, after the bible. It has been translated into
more than 60 languages worldwide. It has also been adapted into many films and plays. Now you

He found such books were offensive because they presented fiction under the guise of historical
truth. He yearned to begin a new generation of comedic chivalry romances.
Miguel de Cervantes published the first volume of Don Quixote in 1605 on January 16. Ten
years later Cervantes published the second volume of the book in 1615. Cervantes got the idea
for the novel while spending time in jail for having problems in his job. He had a duty as a tax
collector for the Spanish Government. However he had mathematical conflicts, which were the
reason why he ended up locked away. He performed this job as tax collector as a day job in order to
make a living.

His inspiration was to intimidate the music of his own music idol, Woody Guthrie. He wanted
to be a socially conscious singer/composer just like Guthrie (Heatly, 126). As the times changed,
Dylan became a musical chameleon. He was able to conform to the changes in the popularity in
music. Dylan s career started with folk and protest music in the early 1960 s then moved through
to electrified folk rock in the mid and late 1960 s and early 1970 s (Kamin). After the Civil
Rights, most fans found Dylan s folk music more admiring and significant than anything he had
ever wrote; popularity formed by creating the raw sounding combo of vocals, harmonica and
guitar. That mixture alone has kept his music career last him forty seven years (Rathbone).
Dylan did not want to stop there; he wanted to evolve into the new generation of music. Dylan
cross pollinated folk and country music with electric rock, creating an entirely new dimension
of popular music (Heatly, 126). He liked to mix sounds and experiment different styles to meet
his high expectations of creativity. He created the new style called folk rock mixing his original
folk sound but began to play electric guitar to embrace rock and roll (Dylan). Some Dylan fans
did not approve of his switch but happened to still remained a musical sensation with a wider
audience. Dylan and his band also caused an uproar at the Newport Folk Festival in July of 1965,

Ciudad Juarez is a city known at the future city to the United States. It is right on the border of
Texas, near El Paso. The United States believes that Ciudad Juarez is the future because it
allows big factories to produce in Mexico and have easy access to America to ship their goods to
sell. On top of easy access, Mexico does not have the same minimum wage limit so big
businesses are allowed to get very cheap labor, which allows the product to be sold cheaper. In
reality Ciudad Juarez is one of the most dangerous cities in the world due to the cartels and
police. Since 1993 a pattern of femicides (killing of women) estimates about 400 were women

The challenges we face with access of care can extremely discriminate and damaging to
individuals, families, and communities. Barriers of accommodation, availability, accessibility and

health plans, compared to 7 percent of those without disabilities (N.O.D, 2000). Enforcement

Features Of Entrepreneurs And Risk Taking
Characteristic features of Entrepreneurs
Brian identified the entrepreneur as a person who is optimistic, future oriented, thinking that
achievement is conceivable and being open to attempting risky methods to accomplish their
objectives of benefits. They are capable of succeeding their objectives of benefits by trying
different methods and also changing quickly as they get new data. (Brian Tracy, 2005)
Entrepreneurs and risk taking
Risk taking is a part of entrepreneurial life. Due to this reason entrepreneurs have to have a risk
taking spirit, because not taking risks can kill an enterprise before it gets off the ground. Dr.
Shailendra Vyakarnam (2013) adds that entrepreneurs are people who also know their limitations.
As entrepreneurs take risks, what they mostly come across are uncertainty and imperfect
information.
Uncertainty and its importance by Entrepreneurs
According to the Business Word Reference (2015); uncertainty is a circumstance where the current
condition of learning is such that the request or nature of things is obscure, the outcomes, degree or
greatness of circumstances, conditions or occasions is eccentric.
The announcement what s to come is dubious is a conspicuous one of course it is. In
administration we cannot recognize what is going to happen or when or what the effect of it will
be. We can assemble data and break down it to attempt to see better what may happen and what the
outcomes may be, however we can never know beyond any doubt. An

Religious Islamic architecture is intricately related to Muslim prayer which is an obligation to do

These inscriptions were written in the style of calligraphy, which itself was a long and drawn

Rock is a mashhad, a shrine for pilgrims, as pilgrimages are major parts of the Muslim faith.
The Acropolis is a large worship complex built on a mountain overlooking the city of Athens. Both
the residents of the city and those traveling to Athens would have been able to see it at all points
throughout the day. Inside the structure lies the Parthenon, the main temple, dedicated to the
goddess Athena, who was the guardian of the city of Athens. The location itself was a holy site
as it was believed to be the place where Athena won against Poseidon and earned her patronage.
Poseidon gave the Greeks a salt well where as Athena gave them a olive branch, and as her gift
was deemed better, they erected the Parthenon in her name. There is also a smaller temple
dedicated to Poseidon in the Acropolis. The olive branch given to them was said to be within the

life, until it all comes crashing down in front of her in a matter of moments. This story, although
really short is very compelling because the author has managed to put the reader inside of Miss
Brills mind letting us in on all her insecurities and thoughts. Out of fear, people build walls
isolating themselves from society. Consequently, causing them to go all their life being lonely and
miserable. Fear of loneliness being the central theme is emphasized with major symbols throughout

The Music Of Music Today
Music Today On the highway there is always noise. The sound of cars honking and rushing by is
all I can hear. I hit the FM button on my radio. When the radio comes on, I hear a song I have
never heard before. Really enjoying it, I sing along and jam out to it. The music is the
soundtrack to my drive. It blocks out the sound of the highway winds and cars driving by. An
hour later, I get back into my car and hear the same song. I sing along but do not jam as
enthusiastically this time. After hearing that same song more than ten times in a week, I feel as
if I am a movie character who is stuck in the same scene singing the same song. I am tired of
hearing the instrumental of the song; I get bored of singing the melody I once enjoyed. I flip
through different radio stations and hear the same old songs I always hear. Giving up on the
radio, I hook up my phone to my car with Bluetooth and play my own music. I open up Spotify
and hit play. Spotify makes a playlist that plays songs it thinks you will like based on what you
have listened to in the past. Fresh melodies flood my car; fresh harmonies flow through my
speakers. Song after song, I hear something I have never heard before. Like a lot of people, I do
not buy my music. I listen to it through music streaming companies like Spotify. Streaming
companies are nice because you can listen to almost any song or albumfor free. It saves a lot of
money because songs are usually $1.29 and albums are around $12.99. This has become an

The Good Shepherd And The Bebenburg Youth
Both The Good Shepherd and The Bebenburg Youth are quite small then what they appear on
generic white backgrounds. Only about two feet each and almost a thousand years in between
them, they have many concepts in common to their creation, build, and context with some
differences in each category. Marble is what the statues are made of, as the hard material was in
relative abundance in the Mediterranean area even in ancient times. Bits of paints on the Youth
are still present as this would be completely polychromed with pigments to add to the lifelikeness
of the statue. Not stated but the Good Shepherd looks like it had color at one point but wore off
from years of being weathered. With the texture of the overall statue, the Bebenburg Youth had
sheen and a smoothed appearance from that of the muscles and careful sanding down to
idealism. The Shepherd has a rougher feel as maybe the artist wanted not to make it like Christ
wore fine linen but a rough material like a poor shepherd would actually wear. At this point in
early Christian art, Christ is very accessible to the masses as a poor youthful shepherd as most
people could identify with shepherds and livestock as both were commonplaces in their simple
lives. On the Bebenburg Youth the hair is a bit chunky and stylized than what natural hair acts in
real life. The Good Shepherd also suffers the same fate. They both have a case of chunky thick
haired fronds just placed on their head like a wig. Neither of their

The signees begin their letter with an immediate call to action to the attorney general followed by a
concession of their shared horror and outrage with the recent terror attacks in San Bernardino
acknowledging the need to ensure strong protections for national security (PEN America).
Contrasting the concession, the authors insert their first claim, what the FBI is asking Apple to do

all of them want to take aggressive steps to reduce the threat of terrorism suggesting that the

There are as many readings of a text as there are readers; Every text has a myriads versions of

depending how each readers perceives its meanings. In each of the readings, the audience is given
an ideologically determined text, which incorporates aspects of the original, but rejects or

However, through chances, villain s manipulations and most importantly his own mind s weakness,
Othello undergoes a mental collapse, which leads to the tragic fall of the protagonist and an
ultimate ending of the play in turmoil. Also, derived by Aristotle is that all tragedies have a plot
built around a downturn or catastrophe and eventual recognition of a true and appalling state of
affairs. In Othello, the downturn would be the temptation scene in Act 3, which had given Iago the
initial opportunity to deceive Othello regarding Desdemona.
The setting of the play, a postcolonial society with the central characters from high social status
also reveals the calamitous nature of Othello. As generalized by Aristotle, most classical tragedies
possesses characters of superiority, usually being kings or nobles, for example, King Lear from
King Lear, Macbeth from Macbeth and Royal Prince Hamlet from Hamlet. This type of setting
highlights the role of the protagonist, differentiates him/her from the ordinary, and as a result
dramatizes the happenings within the play. In this case, since Desdemona and Othello are a part of
the high society of Venice, their romantic relationship and death would perhaps be more emotion
evocative to the audience.

Good Times and The Jeffersons
Good Times and The Jefferson s are well known sitcoms that premiered in the 1970s focusing on
African American families living in poverty, while offering a comedic twist. The 1970s was in
the heart of the civil rights movement, and these shows were based on the lives of blacks during
this time (Deane, 2004). Both shows aired during the same timeframe, and it was evident that
Good Times and The Jefferson s aligned with the traditional stigma that society had of African
Americans (there were often offensive stereotypical aspects present, such as mammy and sambo
characters). When assessing character, Good Times cast starred Esther Rolles as the mother
Florida Evans, John Amos as the father James Evans, comedian Jimmie Walker who played the
oldest son James Evans Jr. (JJ), Ralph Carter who played the youngest son Michael Evans, and
Anderson Bern Nadette Stanis as daughter Thelma Evans (Deane, 2004). Florida was portrayed
to be a hard working individual who just wanted to see the best happen for her family. She had
high hopes, as every mother does, of getting out of the ghetto and living not the life of luxury, but
one where they wouldn t have to face compromising their wants and needs. James Evans was the

Risk Analysis on Investment Decision
Risk Analysis on Investment Decision
Net present value, internal rate of return, and profitability index are measures used to compare two
mutually exclusive capital investment proposals. SAI wants to increase market share and keep up
with technology, which can be done by either expanding their existing Digital Imaging market share
or by entering the Wireless Communication market, (UoP, 2007). Both alternatives have areas of
opportunity as well as potential risks that the company will have to consider. This paper will
analyze the investment risk decisions SAI currently faces with the objectives of increasing its
market share and keeping pace with technology.

Capital risk results directly from money that the company invests. If assets are invested in
another currency, fluctuations in currency value create currency risk. Assets that are not easily
sold because the market is small and takes a long time to sell create liquidity risk. Since SAI s
investment is proposed for the US, the company might also want to borrow money for this project
in the US. This is especially true to mitigate longer term exchange rate risks. Borrowing money in
the same country as the investment reduces the company s net exposure to currency risk (meaning
the rate of exchange between a foreign currency and US currency). They would have assets located
domestically and liabilities located in domestically. The closer those two numbers become, the less
exposure SAI has to currency risk, (Plesko, 2007).
Another way that financial risk can be mitigated is by hedging using the correlations of stocks
(Capital Asset Pricing Model). This is the relationship between return and risk for portfolios. In a
portfolio, two assets are considered to be hedged if they have a negative correlation whereby a loss
in one results in a simultaneous gain in the other. The CAPM is the most popular financial model
used to evaluate returns on portfolios, (Choudhury, 2003).

Religious Ideologies And Practices Behind Buddhism
Throughout my time in school and growing up in a religiously diverse community in Queens, NY,
I have been exposed to numerous belief systems. These experiences have allowed me to stay open
minded and interested to learn about other cultures and ways of life. One particular religion that I
did not consider myself well versed with was Buddhism. From my previous encounters with this
religion, I had learned that its teachings embody the idea of karma and rebirth. As means to broaden
my knowledge and learn more about the religious ideologies and practices behind Buddhism, I
spoke with Professor Ann Burlein of the Religion and Philosophy Department. I had originally
planned to attend Professor Burlein s Buddhism in America class, but due to time conflicts I
resorted to meet with her outside of the classroom environment. At the beginning of our
conversation, she first introduced me to some of the core fundamentals revolving Buddhism, which
are acceptance of impermanence, suffering and unseparated self. She explained that in Buddhism,
one of the most powerful and practical means of reaching this acceptance was through mindful
meditation. I personally could relate to her description about mediation because it is also heavily
valued in Sikhism. As Buddhists use meditation to achieve a certain mental outlook, Sikhs also use
it as means to control our thoughts and ultimately keep our mind from wandering. Understanding
the fundamentals behind Buddhism had already allowed me to draw a

water themed counting game. When estimating the number of objects on the screen, he used his
fingers to count the sea animals, 1, 2,3,4,5, 6 animals and looked at me for confirmation asking, is
it 6? . This shows that Child A is developing within the usual ranges of development, Estimates how
many objects they can see and checks by counting them , (Development Matters in the EYFS, 2012,
p.34).
Piaget believes children learn best by doing and that they must be additionally active in their own
understanding. He also believes that knowledge must be assembled and reassembled by the child.
Subsequently Child A, within the stages of schema, would experience a new notion of dealing with
numbers. The existing schema does not work as child A has no prior knowledge on counting sea
animals. Thus disequilibrium arises until Child A is able to assimilate and accommodate the
contemporary knowledge and attain equilibrium. Hence, Child A uses his fingers to count aloud
and signify each finger with a specific number. For future recommendation, I would have Child A
complete sums where he can count the objects in two

Why Do Men Have Feelings Too
Men Have Feelings, Too
By Dr. Vance Hardisty
Jul 13, 2010
Because most men are basically strong and tough, emotionally if not physically, women often take
that for granted and are excepting them to be invincible. Intrinsically? Yes. Although a boy can be
influenced by words such as, Boys don t cry, if he s normal and healthy, he ll discover as he
matures, that the don t cry syndrome in reality is part of his very nature.
Yes, he may cry on the inside, but unless he s been pampered and coaxed as a child so that he is
less than the world s idea of manly, he won t want his tears to show except in extreme conditions.
No one faults a man for crying visible tears when he loses a child, watches a buddy die in battle
during war or similar tragedies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has many responsibilities tugging at her. There is so much to DO that when husband arrives on
the scene, there just isn t TIME for him! Somehow she thinks he should be adult enough to realize
it. To complicate it further, both mothers and fathers have an intense desire to protect, help and
immerse themselves in their offspring and as a result, neglect each other.
The opposite of the woman who takes her husband s resilience for granted is the female who insists
that her man cry visible tears or find his inner child, and tries to form him into a female like
creature. She does the same with her male children. She takes away their toy guns and may even
insist that they play with dolls...and not always male dolls. It s no wonder some grow up confused
about their sexuality.
Be more considerate and understanding of your husband, Pretty Wife, if you would have a happy
man and a marriage that is concrete. Shower him with loving attention and praise. At the same time,
give him room to be a man. Male. Strong, Masculine. Rough. Then he won t mind, when the time
comes that he is truly hurting, when the tiger becomes a kitten, if you hold him, sympathize with
him, listen to him and pump him up with

The Production Of Oil Prices
Overview Over the past year oil prices have dropped significantly. This is mainly due due to an
increase in technology, which has allowed for a significant increase in the production of oil. The
United States whose top import is Oil has started to produce more oil domestically. Oil prices
have dropped from $110 a barrel of WTI to a whopping $41. This reduction in the demand for oil
would usually curb supply, but many countries are afraid to curb supply incase of loosing
market power. Another reason prices are dropping is people are being more environmentally
conscious and reducing there oil use. In recent years we have seen many alternative fuel sources
introduced into the market and people seem to gain utility from going green even if it cost
more. The reduction in oil prices is heavily affecting economies that are reliant on oil exports.
Oil prices, which continue to drop, are negatively affecting the GDP of countries who are reliant
on oil exports. This drop in prices is can be simply by supply and demand there is most evidently
a higher supply of oil then demand has brought prices down. Since the oilrigs have already been
drilled countries rather sell oil at a loss then not sell any oil at all, so that some of the money can
be recovered. This means countries are choosing not to curb the supply but continue to produce
even though the market price is so low. Overview of Norway Norway is a country that is heavily
reliant on oil exports. In fact there top three

Orange Colored Lenses Research Paper
Could orange colored lenses dictate my future? Would they change the way my friends see me?
Would they help me get through high school and into college? These are just a few questions I
found myself struggling with seven years ago. In fourth grade while reading audibly, my teacher
noticed I might have a reading disability. As I skipped lines, mixed up words, and even confused
words as others, my teacher discussed the concern with my parents. Were there eye problems, was
it dyslexiaor a learningdisorder? Being that all of these conditions were checked, with no
conclusive answer, we only knew I was behind on my reading and comprehension skills.
Later, after taking my first bubble test in the 7th grade, a counselor called me into her office.

Symbolism In The Old Man And The Sea
In The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, Santiago faces trial and injury to prove
himself a great fisherman. He s pertinacious throughout each journey; working diligently, he still
returns without a prospect of success. Hemingway uses powerful symbols to reveal his theme
that conflict is more important than outcome. Santiago s proven as a symbol through his honor
and pride, those characteristics keep him perseverant throughout each journey he endures. In
this introduction of Santiago, Hemingway tells him as the old man. Throughout the story, his
old age plays a valuable role in his fishing abilities; his body s well worn out, except for his eyes
which are cheerful and undefeated (10). His eyes are the same color as the sea which portrays his
livelihood. He has joy and love for fishing to such a great extent that that s what keeps him positive
through the tedious times (10). He takes pride in the work that he accomplishes and honors it
deeply. After suffering his final loss, Santiago states that man can be destroyed but not defeated
(103). Santiago s outlook implies that when a man fails, he pursues it with a purposefulness that
shows insufficient effort. No matter the outcome he retains his skill and strength and possibly even
gains wisdom for any future challenges. Manolin, Santiago s closest family member and friend,
described him as a unique and all around great fisherman. From Manolin s view: Santiago is the
most important to him. He declares that there is

For example, in order to understand the effects of climate change, sociologists study the implements of healthcare workers, influences directing politicians to report or not report climatechange, big industry holders and what is at stake for them to lose or gain, and the effects on the community by the decisions of these entities. The global skepticism and uninformed views of climate change, a direct result of poor media reporting, government negligence, and industries pay offs, impede the movement to counteract climate change from further destroying the welfare of our world. The global goal, through all these different directives, remains to inform societies and develop mitigation efforts. However, whether the world understands or acknowledges climate change or not, the damage caused by their negligence still accumulates at the expense of defenseless people. Several countries neglect to adequately address climate change issues because wealthy industries fear the loss in dividends and stifle the government from taking action while creating bias information for the community. • 3. Operations Management Definition Operations Management Definition Introduction In today s fast paced ever changing business world, organizations must deal with many diverse issues. These issues range from maintaining their competitive edge in a fierce marketplace to social, ethical and concerns regarding the health and well being of their employees. The advent of new technologies has created organizational efficiencies however; it is a well known fact that healthcare has lagged behind other industries with regard to automation. Healthcare is being asked to provide high quality care with increased efficiency yet the patient population believes they are not receiving quality care. McCleave (1996) states that health care managers should look to manufacturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be accomplished by instituting processes to get patients in to see the respective provider in a timely manner, and addressing all of the issues in an individual encounter. McCleave (1996) documents other methods to increase productivity and quality in the healthcare setting. One would be to create an environment where the physician does only what he needs to do. This means that physicians need to shed duties that can be handled efficiently and in a cost effective manner by ancillary personnel, registered nurses or physician s assistants. Office efficiency is another area where improvements are possible. Processes should be evaluated as they relate to patient encounters and non value adding steps should be eliminated. When one considers all the aforementioned possibilities for increasing efficiency it is very likely healthcare will not only realize cost savings but will be able to provide quality healthcare to the patient population thereby reducing the possibility of patients returning to the office on an emergent basis. Conclusion Operations management is as stated by Henderson is an evolutionary position that is needed for healthcare to prosper. Healthcare it is in a state of enormous change and is faced with economic, regulatory, technological and consumer pressures that must be addressed in order for the industry to fulfill its mission. • 4. Billy Collins Poetry Analysis My analysis is on introduction to poetry by Billy Collins. Collins relays the message that readers should be patient and open minded when reading poems in order to see the meaning. Poetry is something to experience by going inside of it. There is a heavy use of metaphors in this poem. The first line, I ask them to take a poem and hold it up to the light like a color slide resembles that sometimes you have to look at something in a different way or in a different light in order to see the variations. Collins is asking the reader to look at the poem in a different way, not the way you would typically read something. I also interpret the color slide as not just a brightly colored picture, but also an image shown on a screen that makes you ask the questions what are they doing? Where are they? And what s going on in the picture? By referencing an image on the slide it also references something that holds image, and holds information that can appear dark or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It makes the reader experience the sound or energy of the poem such as danger, anticipation, or excitement. The part of the poem that says I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe his way out has great interpretation because sometimes it a poem you can get lost in all the different meanings. Collins wants you to get inside of the poem and really explore it. This also gives a clear image of a mouse in a maze working through our problem of how to get out. It s not a straight shot from the beginning of a poem to the end, it is an intricate maze. When the poem reads or walk inside the poem s room and feel the walls for a light switch is in reference to when you are in the dark about what the meaning is and you want the light of understanding to be turned on. It s as if Collins is asking us to find the place in the poems that makes the light bulb come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Revolution Of Modernism And The Mesopotamian Architecture A building is designed for functionality. This principle has served as the cornerstone of architecture in the United States and throughout the world since the first hut of the Mesopotamian civilization. As the centuries go by, this principle started to deviate. With a series of political debris left over from the World War II, the Cold War and the revitalizing economic policies of the Reagan Era, Canadian American architect Frank Gehry was able to shatter the established architectural norm of the modern era and pen an iconoclastic style called deconstructivism in the postmodern 1980s, leaving a resounding legacy in the architectureindustry. The social and political debris remaining by the end of World War II and the Cold War stifled the possibility of a new architectural movement. The revolution of modernism, a form of architecture in which function dictated form, in the postwar decades turned into a routinized corporation that headed towards unpromising directions as it instigated the diminishment of architectural meaning and artistic expression. ... Combining modernist form making with common materials, he had the courage to exploit the implicit freedom of the American middle class neighborhood. This method became a first in the United States and caught the attention of critics. In spite of the first evidence of an imminent prominence, Gehry had to hone the power of architecture to counter the forces of capital; otherwise, its capacity to sustain any critical role could be largely ... This generation was pushing the limits of sexual, social, and political inhibitions and behind the force of their hippie love was the engine of psychedelic rock and roll music. This genre of rock music is inspired by the counterculture scene of the 1950 s and 60 s and attempts to capture the mind altering feelings and emotions attached to psychedelic drugs. The first group to advertise themselves as psychedelic rockwas the 13th Floor Elevators from Texas, at the end of 1965. However, the partnership of drugs and music goes back much further than that. The Beat Generation writers in the second half of the 1950 s, such as William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, used and wrote about drugs like cannabis and Benzidrine, which popularized and raised more awareness of drug use. Part of the reason is that the gods themselves set the example, and since everything that happened in society was the result of the passion of the gods, this, of course, gave the characters in the Greek plays the opportunity to also lust after their children and relatives. While the story of Oedipus the King is the delineating play on the subject, Greek mythology is full of incestuous relationships. The gods who inspired the love and hate relationships among families include Hermes, who used his magical use of language to lure the feelings of his brother Apollo away from jealousy to love. Hermaphroditus is the child of Zeus, Aphrodite, Athene, and Poseidon, and therefore cursed with being its own lover (Sharman Burke and Greene 82). In addition to these incestuous relationships, are relationships that Zeus has with his children. For example, Dionysus is attached to his thigh. Among mortals lives that were influenced by Zeus, Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, husband and wife, were the children of Zeus and Leda. Although they had different earthly fathers, the incestuous relationship between Agamemnon and Clytemnestra brought a curse upon their house for two generations. It was finally destroyed by Orestes, their youngest son, whom Justice allowed to go free. Agamemnon was particularly cursed, although he was the victor at Troy. The reason for this curse is that Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, and Agamemnon s earthly father Atreus were in the habit of eating and sacrificing their own children to appease the gods. But the imagery created by Aeschylus of these acts of sacrifice is also that of incestuous acts and their consequences. Aeschylus writes in Agamemnon, Look! See them sit, there on the wall, like forms in dreams, / Children butchered like lambs by their own kindred. He receives a vision from the spirit of man in the same way that one would supposedly receive a vision from the Holy Spirit and is converted. After his vision he uses the phrase now I know, which suggests knowledge from some higher power similar to divine wisdom. In this new light we can assume that Yeats was relaxed with the idea that since there is no good or evil in the world, only what is natural (Nature is like a cycle), there is no need to be worried by events such as those that are taking place. Furthermore, there then is no need to feel guilt for one s actions. After his vision Yeats is sure of two things: that history is repeating itself, even if the new era is an altered form of the old one, and that he is a member of the new paganism . This explains the awe that fills the poem in its closing. An illustration of a rebirth into Paganism will be filled more with fear and awe than love for this reason: Christianity worships God in his love as a being of supreme good, but pagans worship the spirit of the world as a being of supreme power. Furthermore, his cadence in the last phase of the poem implies that he is almost speaking with reverence to the spiritus mundi and a quite disdain for what he sees as a flaw in Christianity. • 15. An Experiment On The Water Of Water Abstract No matter how water came to exist on Earth, there is no denying that it has become the basis for life as we know it. From the largest animal, to the smallest microbe, water is essential. Microbes, in particular, have made water their homes and their diversity within these freshwater aquatic habitats was tested in this experiment and the hypothesis put forward was that cleaner water, pond B, contained a higher biodiversity as compared to dirty water. Water from two different freshwater ponds, A and B, was collected and placed in beakers, six slides of each water sample were prepared carefully and methyl cellulose was added so the movement of microbes could be inhibited. The entire section under the cover slip was viewed and no area was left out of view, this was done by using an overlap of view method. Organisms spotted were identified using a key and the names and numbers recorded. After all observations, a table was created and further information was extracted from the table and put into graphs. It was found that dirty water contained a high biodiversity than cleaner water and the original hypothesis put forward was rejected. Introduction The origin of water on Earth remains a hotly debated topic among the scientific community. Only about two feet each and almost a thousand years in between them, they have many concepts in common to their creation, build, and context with some differences in each category. Marble is what the statues are made of, as the hard material was in relative abundance in the Mediterranean area even in ancient times. Bits of paints on the Youth are still present as this would be completely polychromed with pigments to add to the lifelikeness of the statue. Not stated but the Good Shepherd looks like it had color at one point but wore off from years of being weathered. With the texture of the overall statue, the Bebenburg Youth had sheen and a smoothed appearance from that of the muscles and careful sanding down to idealism. The Shepherd has a rougher feel as maybe the artist wanted not to make it like Christ wore fine linen but a rough material like a poor shepherd would actually wear. At this point in early Christian art, Christ is very accessible to the masses as a poor youthful shepherd as most people could identify with shepherds and livestock as both were commonplaces in their simple lives. If assets are invested in another currency, fluctuations in currency value create currency risk. Assets that are not easily sold because the market is small and takes a long time to sell create liquidity risk. Since SAI s investment is proposed for the US, the company might also want to borrow money for this project in the US. This is especially true to mitigate longer term exchange rate risks. Borrowing money in the same country as the investment reduces the company s net exposure to currency risk (meaning the rate of exchange between a foreign currency and US currency). They would have assets located domestically and liabilities located in domestically. The closer those two numbers become, the less exposure SAI has to currency risk, (Plesko, 2007). Another way that financial risk can be mitigated is by hedging using the correlations of stocks (Capital Asset Pricing Model). This is the relationship between return and risk for portfolios. In a portfolio, two assets are considered to be hedged if they have a negative correlation whereby a loss in one results in a simultaneous gain in the other. He s pertinacious throughout each journey; working diligently, he still returns without a prospect of success. Hemingway uses powerful symbols to reveal his theme that conflict is more important than outcome. Santiago s proven as a symbol through his honor and pride, those characteristics keep him perseverant throughout each journey he endures. In this introduction of Santiago, Hemingway tells him as the old man. Throughout the story, his old age plays a valuable role in his fishing abilities; his body s well worn out, except for his eyes which are cheerful and undefeated (10). His eyes are the same color as the sea which portrays his livelihood. He has joy and love for fishing to such a great extent that that s what keeps him positive through the tedious times (10). He takes pride in the work that he accomplishes and honors it deeply. After suffering his final loss, Santiago states that man can be destroyed but not defeated (103). Santiago s outlook implies that when a man fails, he pursues it with a purposefulness that shows insufficient effort.
