 The health of staff, contractors and visitors
are of utmost importance
 Establish clear company pandemic policies
 Prepare for high absenteeism / mortality
 Expect fear and “irrational” behaviour

3. Manage your Facilities
 Barring any contamination, a company
will continue using their primary offices
in a pandemic.
 Primary offices must be kept as safe as
possible for staff
 Strategically located Isolation Rooms
should be identified and equipped
appropriately.

 In anticipation of a pandemic,
companies may choose to split its
critical functions into two or more teams
working from different locations.
 Ensure that each team is equipped to
function independently

4. Leverage Technology
 To manage a pandemic program:
E.g., automating the daily logging of
staff temperature, staff travel history
 To facilitate and support strategies such
as working from home and video
conferencing

5. Prepare Your Supply
Chain
Internal Supplies
 Thermometers, hand sanitisers, surgical and N95 masks,
and other personal protective equipment (PPE) are
essential for the effective control of infection at the
workplace
 Ensure availability and subsequent distribution of supplies
 Be prepared for panic buying at the onset of a pandemic,
leading to diminished supplies and elevated prices

5. Prepare Your Supply
Chain
External Supply
 Take inventory of your extended enterprise and Identify
critical suppliers and understand their responses in a
pandemic
 Be clear about expectations surrounding support, delivery
delays, stock maintenance, expertise, quantity, quality,
etc..
 Review safety stock levels
 Stockpile essential supplies / resources as needed
 Be open to collaborating with other companies

6. Communicate!
 Develop accurate information and
deliver to employees on timely basis
 Share Company’s pandemic policies
and plans with employees
 Educate employees on symptoms and
avoid coming to work sick
 Promote good hygiene in workplace

Manage your Facilities  Barring any contamination, a company will continue using their primary offices in a pandemic.  Primary offices must be kept as safe as possible for staff  Strategically located Isolation Rooms should be identified and equipped appropriately. © BCM Institute 2015

Prepare Your Supply Chain Internal Supplies  Thermometers, hand sanitisers, surgical and N95 masks, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential for the effective control of infection at the workplace  Ensure availability and subsequent distribution of supplies  Be prepared for panic buying at the onset of a pandemic, leading to diminished supplies and elevated prices © BCM Institute 2015

Prepare Your Supply Chain External Supply  Take inventory of your extended enterprise and Identify critical suppliers and understand their responses in a pandemic  Be clear about expectations surrounding support, delivery delays, stock maintenance, expertise, quantity, quality, etc..  Review safety stock levels  Stockpile essential supplies / resources as needed  Be open to collaborating with other companies © BCM Institute 2015
