Editor's Notes
パラダイムシフト発生
The Collaboration market is headed towards one of the biggest transitions that I’ve seen in my many years in this space (and that’s a lot of years). We’ve all heard about Cloud & Mobile, the two industry trends driving this transition- they have created what I like to call the most disruptive force in IT- the end user.
9
Cisco has always been well known for their high quality fully integrated endpoints. We have defined the standard in the market. Easy to install, use and manage, while offering the greatest in use experience.
While making these new endpoints more affordable, we will also raise the quality experience and utilization possibilities, as mentioned for MX300 G2 – see the great image and hear the clear audio and easily share content wireless from your own device or share a drawing from the whiteboard
I know you are so excited to hear about the new collaboration solutions that are coming to market but let’s start by revisiting the collaboration strategy and how we are continuing on the path to collaboration success at Cisco. We are re-imagining Collaboration at Cisco and you have started to see some of that over the last several months with some of the innovative announcements we have made around making collaboration really simple.
Experience Centric.
Over the last year, you have heard Rowan talk about what the CTG strategy is. And he is delivering on the promises he made about making collaboration simple and delivering delightful experiences -enabled by the unique combination of our software, hardware and the network and social intelligence.
These Experiences are simple yet high quality, business grade experiences. One consistent experience on every pane of glass. And a big part of this is experience is also around BYOD.
Mobile First - CTG is doubling down on Mobility – always having it at the forefront of everything CTG develops. CTG is really focusing on software on the server and in the cloud and is investing heavily in this. We have been successful here, launching several mobility enhancements not only by enabling support for virtually any mobile device, but marrying on-prem to the Mobile world with features like extension mobility that was showcased at Collaboration this past October.
Cloud Connected.
The second part of that strategy is to take cloud to the next level, really focusing our attention on not only offering cloud collaboration solutions, but fusing these solutions with on-premise solutions too. Services like cloud connected audio and WebEx enabled telepresence are great examples of this and CTG will continue to fuse these two environments together leveraging the best of what the network has to offer and really setting us apart from our competition.
We need to invest heavily in the cloud, but our unique spin is to deliver cloud services which are not just about the cloud, but rather cloud services that integrate deeply with infrastructure, devices, and services that are on-premise and in our partner and carrier networks.
Premise infrastructure and devices, partners, and carriers will remain enormous parts of the solution, and our cloud strategy reflects that.
Value Extended.
Finally, we will deliver incremental value from our current offerings via new markets, new business models and offer synergies.
Continuing to grow our market leading installed base will enable us to transition even more customers to incremental ‘next generation collaboration’ offerings over time.
Our strategy isn’t about starting over. We’re the only company that can bring it all together and by adding value to the investments already made by our partners and customers.
(Fuse our unique hardware, software, cloud and network capabilities to deliver a seamless and comprehensive collaboration experience that extends the value of our customers’ existing investments)
Now these new workplace designs do come with some unintended consequences,
First, as the workforce becomes more mobile and the workplace becomes more dispersed, the ability to stay connected becomes critical.
Second, in addition to staying connected ensuring employees stay engaged also becomes a top priority..
Third, for many employees one of the major pushbacks is the ability to personalize their workspace if the company is also deploying a free seating policy.
Fourth, as the workforce evolves from one dominated by traditional full time employees, to one that uses more flexible and contingent workers, being able to protect intellectual assets becomes very important
And lastly, with a more mobile and flexible workplace design, understanding how assets within the workplace are being utilized and how employees are interacting becomes very challenging.
But technology, and more specifically, Cisco technology plays a significant role in solving many of these issues.
