Slump test measures the workability and consistency of fresh concrete by determining the vertical settlement of a standardized concrete sample after being cast in a mold and removed. An ideal slump for concrete is 4-6 inches according to the document. The test must be performed within 2.5 minutes of obtaining the sample and removing the mold within 3-7 seconds for accuracy per ASTM standards.
