Optical brightening agents (OBAs) are colorless dyes that emit visible blue light when exposed to UV light, making white fabrics appear brighter. They work by absorbing UV light and re-emitting it at a longer, visible wavelength. Historically, OBAs were first used as bleaching auxiliaries in the 1800s and were derived from horse chestnut extracts. Modern OBAs are typically derived from stilbene or triazine compounds. While OBAs improve whiteness, they generally have poor light and wash fastness. Their effects also depend on fiber type and conditions like pH and temperature.

Softening agents are applied to textiles to improve their hand, drape, cutting and sewing qualities. An effective softener must be readily dispersible in rinse water and rapidly absorbed so that uniform deposition on the fabric can occur within a relatively short treatment time and generally, exhaustion should take place in about 5min for the softener to be effective and economically usable. It must impart softness, fluffiness and lubricity to the treated cloth and reduce static build-up, especially in the case of hydrophobic fibers like cellulose acetate, nylon, polyester and acrylic fibers. These effects should be obtained without the loss of fabric whiteness or brightness, and then the treated fabric should retain its ability to absorb in subsequent use for drying the body (bath towels) or other surfaces. Fabric softener (also called fabric conditioner) is used to prevent static cling and make fabric softer. It is available as a liquid or as dryer sheets. Popular brand names include Downy (Lenor), Snuggle, Bounce, Comfort and Sta-Soft.I believe that, the knowledge of this report will help future carrier of every textile engineer.

Color is the sensation resulting from light waves of different wavelengths activating the retina of the eye. Longer wavelengths such as red have lower frequencies while shorter wavelengths like blue have higher frequencies. There are three aspects to color: hue (name), value (amount of black or white), and intensity (purity). Dyes are soluble colored organic compounds that can be applied to substrates to impart color, while pigments are insoluble colored particles that remain physically and chemically unaffected by the substrate. The key differences between dyes and pigments are their solubility, size, bonding method, longevity, and combustibility.

Cultivation and Processing of Selected Medicinal PlantsAjjay Kumar Gupta
Medicinal plants are important for human health. These plants have been used from the prehistoric times to present day. These plants based medicines are consumed in all civilizations. It is believed that the herbal medicine can give good effect to body without causing side effects to human life. Medicinal plants are not only a major resource base for the traditional medicine & herbal industry but also provide livelihood and health security to a large segment of Indian population. Medicinal plants constitute a large segment of the flora, which provide raw materials for use by various industries. They have been used in the country for a long time for their medicinal properties. These plants are staging a comeback and herbal renaissance is happening all over the globe. The herbal medicines today symbolize safety in contrast to the synthetics that are regarded as unsafe to human and environment. Although herbs had been priced for their medicinal, flavoring and aromatic qualities for centuries, the synthetic products of the modern age surpassed their importance, for a while.
2013.
The annual demand of botanical raw drugs in the country has been estimated at 3,19,500 MT for the year 20011-2013.There is global resurgence in traditional and alternative health care systems resulting in world herbal trade which stands at US$ 120 billion and is expected to reach US$ 7 trillion by 2050.
Indian share in the world trade, at present, however, is quite low.In state wise assessment of demand for 10 major states it works out to 33000 tons per State per year totaling to approximately 3.5 lakh tons for the country as a whole. However, individual pharmacy requirement works out to 1292 tons (approx.) annually. Assuming that there are 100 major pharmacies, the country's demand for crude drugs on this basis comes to 1.29 lakh tons per year. Combining the averages of the two sources, the demand estimate is worked out to 2.4 lakh tons of crude drugs per 122 annum.
The present book covers cultivation practices of selected commercially important medicinal plants with their processing details and uses. The book is very resourceful for medicinal plants growers, professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs and agriculture universities.

Dyes are soluble colored organic compounds that can be applied to substrates to impart color, while pigments are insoluble colored particles that remain physically and chemically unaffected by the substrate. The key differences between dyes and pigments are their solubility, size, bonding method, longevity, and combustibility.
Paint is a mixture of pigments, extenders, additives, resins or binders, and solvents. Pigments provide color and hiding power, extenders reduce costs and improve properties like flow, and resins act as the film-forming component that binds the paint together and improves adhesion and durability. Common paint components include titanium dioxide as a pigment, calcium carbonate as an extender, alkyd or acrylic resins as binders, and solvents like water, xylene or methyl ethyl ketone to adjust viscosity. A coating is any material applied to a substrate's surface, and paint provides both decorative and protective coatings.
This document provides information about pigments, including:
- Pigments are insoluble coloring substances that are used to color materials without chemically bonding to them.
- Organic pigments include azo, polycyclic, and phthalocyanine pigments. Inorganic pigments include titanium dioxide, iron oxides, cadmium and chromium pigments.
- Pigments are used to color fabrics, leather, paper, plastics, paints and other materials. They provide properties like color strength, light fastness and weather resistance.
The document discusses additives used in printing inks, including water based and solvent based systems as well as radiation cured systems. It provides information on different types of additives such as defoamers, dispersing agents, rheology modifiers, wetting and leveling agents, and micronized waxes. For each additive type, the document lists specific products from Munzing and details their properties and applications. The goal of Munzing is to solve formulation problems for customers through technical support and a broad range of additive chemistries.
This document outlines the preparation of a poly acrylate binder for pigment printing. It discusses selecting monomers like butyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, and methyl methacrylate. A recipe is provided using these monomers along with acrylic acid and N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide. The glass transition temperature of the polymer is calculated to be 180C. The procedure involves emulsifying the monomers and initiating polymerization at various temperatures until the reaction is complete. The goal is to synthesize a binder with properties like softness, strength, and washability suitable for pigment printing.
Pigment printing of textiles, a lecture given at ICT Mumbai for Kabur Memoria...Sanjiv Kamat

It also mentions some key aspects of the industry like recycling of waste paper, use of non-wood fibers, and paper converting processes. The document then provides industry statistics on future demand growth and production capacity in India. It concludes by describing the topics that will be covered in the book related to various pulp and paper processes.

Manufacturing of Synthetic Resins with Formulae & ProcessesAjjay Kumar Gupta
Synthetic resin is typically manufactured using a chemical polymerization process. This process then results in the creation of polymers that are more stable and homogeneous than naturally occurring resin. Since they are more stable and are cheaper, various forms of synthetic resin are used in a variety of products such as plastics, paints, varnishes, and textiles. There are various kinds of synthetic resins; silicones resins, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, gum arabic, epoxy resins, guar gum, carrageenan, carboxymethyl cellulose, etc. Resins are polymeric compound which are available in nature and are also manufactured by synthetic routes. Some resins are also manufactured by partial modification of natural precursor polymer by chemical.
During 2009–2013, consumption of epoxy resins for coatings increased at an average annual rate of 8.3% and for electrical and electronics applications at 6.8%. Epoxy resins for composite applications increased at an average rate of 8.1% per year
In 2013, the largest end use for epoxy resins was coating applications, which accounted for 43% of total consumption, followed by electrical and electronics applications, at 35%. The resin market accounted for USD 7.54 Billion in 2015 and is expected to reach USD 11.22 Billion by 2021, growing at a CAGR of around 6.9% between 2016 and 2021.
In INDIA, epoxy resins consumption will grow at an average annual rate of 4.9% for 2013–2018.
Epoxy resin consumption for composites in the United States is forecast to grow at an average annual rate of nearly 10% during 2013–2018.
The present book contains formulae, processes and other valuable details for various synthetic resins. This is very useful book for those concerned with development, consultants, research scholars, new entrepreneurs existing units, institutional libraries etc.

Building material is any material which is used for construction purposes. Many naturally occurring substances, such as clay, rocks, sand, and wood, even twigs and leaves, have been used to construct buildings. Apart from naturally occurring materials, many man-made products are in use, some more and some less synthetic. The manufacture of building materials is an established industry in many countries and the use of these materials is typically segmented into specific specialty trades, such as carpentry, insulation, plumbing, and roofing work. They provide the make-up of habitats and structures including homes. Construction industry is the largest consumer of material resources, of both the natural ones (like stone, sand, clay, lime) and the processed and synthetic ones. Each material which is used in the construction, in one form or the other is known as construction material (engineering material). No material, existing in the universe is useless; every material has its own field of application. Stone, bricks, timber, steel, lime, cement, metals etc. are some commonly used materials by civil engineers.
Market outlook
The global market for construction materials is projected to exceed US $ 1 trillion by 2020, driven by improving world economic outlook and recovering construction activity in residential, commercial and infrastructure sector. India's construction industry will continue to expand over the forecast period (2016–2020), with investments in residential, infrastructure and energy projects continuing to drive growth. The industry's output value in real terms is expected to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.65% over the forecast period; up from 2.95% during the review period (2011–2015). For August 2016, the construction final demand producer price index (PPI) was flat over July 2016, but is 0.7% above last year. The PPI for Inputs to construction industry goods was down -0.2% from last month and -1.7% from last year. After what will likely be 2% growth in 2016, overall construction costs are forecasted for ongoing growth in 2017 in the 2-3% range. These increases will be primarily led by gains in construction labor wages, which is forecasted for 3-4% in 2017.

Glass is a non-crystalline amorphous solid that is often transparent and has widespread practical, technological, and decorative usage in, for example, window panes, tableware, and optoelectronics. The most familiar, and historically the oldest, types of glass are "silicate glasses" based on the chemical compound silica (silicon dioxide, or quartz), the primary constituent of sand. The term glass, in popular usage, is often used to refer only to this type of material, which is familiar from use as window glass and in glass bottles. Of the many silica-based glasses that exist, ordinary glazing and container glass is formed from a specific type called soda-lime glass, composed of approximately 75% silicon dioxide (SiO2), sodium oxide (Na2O) from sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), calcium oxide, also called lime (CaO), and several minor additives.
DEMAND OF GLASS
Indian packaging industry is pegged to be around $ 15 billion with a growth rate of 15 % approximately, out of which Indian container glass industry stands at $ 0.87 billion with an approximate growth rate of 12 %. The Indian float glass is estimated to be around $ 0.76 billion with growth rate of 32 % in the last fiscal year. The comparison between per capita consumption of glass in countries like the USA - 27.5 kg and Japan 10.2 kg suggests that India with a consumption of 1.4 kg has a huge scope for significant growth opportunities.

Surgical gloves also known as Medical gloves. These gloves are medical safety accessories that ensure sanitary hospital conditions by limiting patients’ exposure to infectious matter. They also serve to protect health professionals from disease through contact with body fluids. Medical gloves are traditionally made of latex and powdered with cornstarch. Since cornstarch can impede healing if it gets into tissues (as during surgery), non-powdered gloves are being increasingly used during surgery and other sensitive procedures.

Manufacturing Process of Rosin, Terpene, Tall Oil, Resin & Dimer Acids (Oleor...Ajjay Kumar Gupta
Pine chemicals are derived from the distillation of oleoresin or carbonization of wood. These chemicals are largely obtained from three sources: 1) living trees; 2) dead pine stumps and logs; and 3) as by-products of sulfate (or Kraft) pulping. Most distilled products are made from gum, stumps, logs, and sulfate pulp byproducts.
Pine oleoresin is a complex mixture of volatile and nonvolatile terpenes. Terpenes constitute the largest group of secondary products (with more than 40,000 different metabolites). Global investments in new forest plantations have focused on fast-growing hardwood plantations over the past 15 years. But there is a growing interest in developing new pine plantations for production of oleoresin.

Wax is used as high value product for energy reserve in the world. It not only provides various good products for general public, but increases petrochemical plant revenue also. Renewable alternatives to wax are enjoying new opportunities as a result of a raft of factors. Among these are a dwindling supply of petroleum-based waxes, skyrocketing paraffin wax prices, and a growing consumer preference for greener products.
Growing paraffin wax consumption for cardboard and paper coating mainly in food industry owing to the excellent protection and water barrier properties is expected to stimulate demand over the forecast period. Rising demand for paper in food packaging owing to its biodegradability is likely to fuel demand.

Introduction
A formula is an entity constructed using the symbols and formation
rules of a given logical language. In science, a specific formula is a
concise way of expressing information symbolically as in a
mathematical or chemical formula. Formulation is a key process in the
overall life cycle so that products are delivered that is of the right
quality, at a competitive cost, and is made available within the specified
time scale. The chemical formula identifies each constituent element by
its chemical symbol and indicates the number of atoms of each element
found in each discrete molecule of that compound. If a molecule
contains more than one atom of a particular element, this quantity is
indicated using a subscript after the chemical symbol and also can be
combined by more chemical elements. It is all in the formula, whose
implications also remain undiscovered by modern economists. It plays a
major role in every process whether it is manufacturing process or
preservation. There is a big importance of formula in our life because
formulas and equations deal with everyday things like shapes,
investments, mixing things
