This document provides guidance on organizing a compare/contrast essay using two patterns of organization: point-by-point and block. It includes an outline for a sample point-by-point essay thesis stating that individuals have a responsibility to react to stereotypes in order to learn from them or help others learn. The outline then lists the introduction, three body paragraphs addressing responsibility, becoming aware of stereotypes, and breaking stereotypes, and a conclusion. It also provides brief instructions on documentation and cites sources for the essay.
