Comparative and Superlative
Adjectives
Equality Comparative:
We use this form when we want to compare
two things and they are both equal:
•Form: AS + adjective + AS
E.g. John is as tall as Mario.
Maria is as intelligent as Rachel.
Comparison can also be made with LIKE,
when we want to say that two things are
similar:
E.g. I’m like a brother to him.
Superlative Adjective:
The superlative is used to compare one
thing in relation a bunch of things, when
we contrast one object with more the two
others.
Form: adjective + est
E.g. Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the
world.
This was the cheapest ring I could buy.
In adjectives ending in –y, you drop the y,
replace it for –i and add –est.
E.g. I thought that was the easiest exercise in
the test.
Barbra Straisand is the prettiest actress that
has ever played played “Funny Brice”.
When we have long adjectives, we use
most to make the comparison.
Form: most + adjective
E.g. That is the most expensive house we
have ever seen.
John is the most intelligent student in my
class.
Superlative of inferiority is used when
something in inferior to another or a group.
Form: LEAST + adjective

all.
