With some 2 syllable adjectives both –er, -est and
more , most forms are possible: common, handsome,
polite, quiet wicked, pleasant, cruel, stupid, tired and
words ending in –ow (narrow), -er(clever), -le
(simple). BUT THE MORE, MOST FORMS ARE
MOST COMMON.
SIMPLE RULE: MORE and MOST for 2 syllable
adjectives except for the ones ending in –y.
UNHAPPY- UNHAPPIER- UNHAPPIEST
Exception: shy – shyer – the shyest
