Communicative Competence
1. * It is the product of educators and linguistics who had grown dissatisfied with the audio-lingual and grammar – translation methods of foreign language instruction. * CLT makes use of real – life situations that necessitate communication.
2. * It helps learners to create meaning rather than constructing perfectly grammatical structures or having a native-speaker pronunciation. * It is characterized by taking emphasis on learning to communicate through interaction in the target language.
3. * This method is learner – centered. In CLT the teacher serves as more of a facilitator, allowing students to be in charge of their own learning.
4. * The teacher still sets up exercises and gives direction to the class, but the student do much more speaking than in a traditional classroom in order to the learners to develop linguistic fluency.
5. * Some classroom activities used in CLT are: Role play, interviews, games, pair groups to interact with other people.
