Its really hard to implement strategy and large scale change! Together with strategy engagement activities, people resilience is the vital element in making strategy work. Resilience enables people in all levels of the organisation cope with setbacks, unwelcome change and keeps the pressures from work and life challenges positive:
• Leaders need to cope with their own stress, and to display this resilience in their leadership. They also need the tools to coach their Team Members when their resilience is lagging.
• Team Members need to be able to stay task focused and productive whilst experiencing disruptive and even unwelcome change. They need to be able to keep home and work stress separate, and not allow negative stress from one area to influence the other.
Effective strategy engagement combined with people resilience creates strategy-fitness. It reflects the capacity of the people in the organisation to deliver the organisation’s strategy.
It’s important to understand the different reactions in your team to large scale change:
• The Flourishing are characterised by being open to and embracing the change, growing and learning and have a positive attitude.

Mentoring is a universal practice present in almost every culture. In Africa, mentoring is mostly informal than formal. A youth can regularly receive guidance, words of wisdom from his parents, family members or an elder in the society. However, when mentoring is being informal and unstructured, it's very difficult to assess and measure its effectiveness. I therefore believe that there is a need for more structured mentoring programs in Africa. These formalised mentoring program could be holistically integrated into high school and university curriculum so that no student can end his learning journey without being mentored.
Mentoring is a key missing component in most of the higher institutions of learning and even in the workplace. Developing a culture of mentoring will definitely contribute to leadership develop in Africa

Role of Early Adopters and Why it is a Good Idea to Focus your Leadership Attention on These People: The role of early adopters is to show their commitment to the change needed while building trust and with credibility, find the right people to share the common goal in the hopes of implementing the change.The early adoptershave the power to either push people away or get them to move forward with them which is why it is so important for them to choose the right poeple. It is a great idea to focus leadership attention on these people because chances are that the earlier they adopt the idea of change, the more likely they are to be passionate about it and genuinely want to see the change happen. They can use that passion to build confidence in the vision, thus, influencing others to share the passion and want to reach the goal just as badly as they do. By doing this, they develop the common goal by presenting it in a sensible way but appealing to the heart (Kotter, 2012). My Experience with a Guiding Coalition A year ago, I was part of a coalition to help my company work smarter and faster than it was. My company wanted us to start using tablets in the hospitals to be able to use the technology to take multiple claims per day as opposed to just one or two. Because my team serves one of the largest hospitals in the Metro Atlanta area and we have a much larger volume than other hospitals, and they knew we often felt overwhelmed, this would be a good thing for us to use. The immediate coalition were 5 members of IT, the VP of Operations, my Director of Field Operations, Manager of Field Operations, and 6 Healthcare Reps (including myself) that were to pilot the program and give feedback before the company wide launch. In the first 2 months, we gave constant feedback daily, every other day, or weekly and IT had to fix the 'bugs'. After the third month, the tablets were launched company wide. It accomplished what it set out to accomplish, meaning, by being able to use the technology as opposed to doing hand written applications, we were able to take as many as 5 or 6 claims per day. By doing so, we were able to assist many more patients and had fewer patients that we missed which made us much more effective in pleasing our cusotmer (the hospital). It cut the number of patients kept on hold by over 2/3 which was amazing as this helped the Healthcare Reps to feel much less overwhelmed and less stressed. It was truly a win-win. The major challenges in keeping the coalition intact occurred in the first 2 months while frustrations ran high while having to have the 'bugs' fixed. Sometimes if felt hard among the Healthcare Reps the IT staff to stay focused on the goal while feedback sometimes became complaining sessions. In essence, the challenge was for the IT department to not lose credibility with the HCR's by not being able to fix things as fast as we would have liked them to and I'm sure our credibility was questionable ...

They have joined the heartbeat of transformation and play a significant role in guiding our SA youth and communities towards a greater future!

As I journey with our Change Agents through their Circles of Change (COC) I wake more and more up to this inspiring quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. When each of us live into our Golden Thread and follow its calling, Magic takes place! Each project that we have been so lucky to witness and gently guide in our Change Agent work this year inspires to move beyond what we think we know and open ourselves to the grand adventure! I am deeply grateful for a year that has emptied me and opened me further. Only when we can be fully present with ‘the other’ can we deeply honour their journey and its unfolding. Here at SmilingOne we are curious about the puzzle piece that each of our Students are in our greater puzzle - their unique contribution. We walk hand in hand, we spin the COC Engine inwardly and outwardly, we shape and co-create inspiring projects that heal and inspire youth, families and communities.
