of State Boards of Nursing). This is administered
on behalf of the members of the boards that form
the Board. There are as many as 50 states which
accept and promote it. There are also four
different U.S. Territories which accept it. The
name of the territories are as follows: Virgin
Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana
Islands and Guam.

What is the purpose of it?
This is aimed at assessing the knowledge
and the skills of the candidates who would
like to practice as nurses. Each and every
state has some rules pertaining to the same
which nursing candidates are required to
follow. These rules lay the foundation of
the standards of practice too.

Adaptive Testing.

How will be the questions? How many types of questions the
candidates may get in their test?
Nearly 90% of the questions would be Multiple-Choice
Questions. There can be some questions in which the
candidates will have to fill the gaps with the most
appropriate words or phrases. There are some questions
which may require candidates to correct the number of
steps, to mark or identify the correct area on a given
picture, to answer questions as per the information given
in the chart, to correct the sequence of the sentences,
correct the order of the words etc.

transferred to the respective state board. This
may take 48 hours to 6 weeks. They will email
