WHAT IS
COMMERCIALIZATION ?
Commercialization is the process
of introducing a new product to the
market. It includes stages such as
production, distribution, marketing,
sales, and customer support.
Why is Commercialization Important?
It is the process that allows businesses to raise and solve
problems of new products and bring them to the market.
• It helps companies decide when to launch a certain product by reviewing
different factors that can influence or delay a launch like unfavourable
market conditions or inquiries to consider some changes.
• Companies choose whether to bring a product to a local, national, or
international market. They also take into account available resources such
as operational capacities and capital.
• Business leaders also conduct marketing research to define their primary
consumer group.
Product Commercialization Vs. Product Launch
PRODUCT LAUNCH
• It is the process that occurs when a
product is created and is ready for
release.
• It has already gone through the
idea conceptualization stage.
“commercialization” and “product launch” are often used to
define the same thing but two concepts represent different
processes. The two main factors that make these terms different
are timing and goals.

Let’s take the cinnamon rolls business, for example. The company
that produces this pastry has grown from a small start-up and
demonstrates good results. The firm decides to commercialize its
cinnamon rolls by selling the packaged products to local grocery
stores. As a result, consumers can buy their products in more
locations and drastically increase profits.
