1.1) OVERVIEW OF INDUSTRY
The latest evolution in the packaging industry, Flexible Packaging has gained popularity
worldwide for its benefits over rigid packaging. With benefits such as functional convenience in
handling & transportation, cost effectiveness and brand protection from counterfeiting, flexible
packaging industry worldwide is led by a strong growth.
Today, the flexible packaging industry globally is estimated to be nearly USD 160 billion and is
growing at steady pace of 7 - 7.5% annually. The developed world regions of North America,
Western Europe and Japan, which boast higher incomes per head, constitute the biggest markets
for flexible packaging, accounting to about 70% of the share of the world’s total market.
With constant technological evolutions and a stiff competition to keep up to the demands of the
consumers, many international players are not able to sustain themselves. The competition from
Asian Countries particularly from India and China is making it hard, even for some of the
biggest players.
As far as India is concerned, there are still few companies in the organized sector in Flexible
Packaging segment. The small units in India face the heat of stiff competition from the biggest
players and fail to keep up to the competition in terms of by deployment state-of-the-art latest

1) Salman Bin Abdulaziz University, Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia:-
Topic:- Consumer’s Perception
This Study Aims to Investigate the Role of Packaging in Jordanian Consumer’s Perception of
Product Quality At The Point Of Purchase. The Study Comprises Four Independent Variable:
Protection Of Products And Consumer, Promotion Of Products, Facilitation Of Storage, Use,
And Convenience Of Products, Facilitation Of Recycling And Reducing Environmental Damage
And The Dependent Variable Is Jordanian Consumer's Perceptions Of Product Quality At The
Point Of Purchase. The Researcher Tries To Develop And Test A Model To Achieve The
Research Objectives. Data Were Collected From A Convenience Sample Of 547 Respondents
Using A Questionnaire. Questionnaire Consists Of 26 Items Measured On Five Point Likert
Scale. The Data Are Analyzed Using Several Statistical Techniques To Test The Stated
Hypotheses. Descriptive Statistical Measures Are Used To Describe The Study's Sample
Characteristics. Multiple Regression Analysis Is Used To Find The Effect Of The Independent
Variables On The Dependent Variable. It Was Found That All The Independent Variables Had A
Significant Effect On Jordanian Consumer's Perception Of Product Quality At The Point Of
Purchase. Recommendations For Future Research, Marketing Implications, And Limitations Of
This Study Are Proposed.
2) Mark Speece, School Of Management, Asian Institute Of Technology And Graduate
School, Bangkok University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The Importance Of Packaging Design As A Vehicle For Communication And Branding Is
Growing In Competitive Markets For Packaged Food Products. This Research Utilized A Focus
Group Methodology To Understand Consumer Behaviour Toward Such Products And How
Packaging Elements Can Affect Buying Decisions. Visual Package Elements Play A Major Role,
Representing The Product For Many Consumers, Especially In Low Involvement, And When
They Are Rushed. Most Focus Group Participants Say They Use Label Information, But They
Would Like It If Simplified. The Challenge For Researchers Is To Integrate Packaging Into An
Effective Purchasing Decision Model, By Understanding Packaging Elements As Important
Marketing Communications Tools. Propositions For Future Research Are Proposed Which Will
Help In Developing Better Understanding Of Consumer Response To Packaging Elements

Project. Thus It Is An Organized, Systematic Approach To Be The Formulation, Implementation
And Control Of Research Project.

24
3.3) SAMPLING PLAN
The Universe Of Study Being Large, Researcher Has To Resort To Sampling Method Of Data
Collection. On The Basis Of A Section Of The Universe Selected In A Prescribed Manner One
Is Able To Deduce For The Universe. For The Sample Results To Be Applicable On The
Universe, Sample Should Be Adequately Chosen So To Make It Representative And Reliable.
Population: all manufacturing packaging company.
Sample: Sample is the from population no. of flexible packaging manufacturing industry in
India
There are some characteristic which are followed in the survey
1) Sample design should be a representative sample.
2) Sample design should have small sampling error
3) Sample design should be economically viable:
4) Sample design should have marginal systematic bias
5) Results obtained from the sample should be generalized and applicable to the whole
universe:
In our survey we have to survey of different manufacturing company in Ahmadabad,
Gandhinagar, Changodar,etc.
25
3.4) DATA COLLECTION PLAN
Data Are The Bricks With Which The Researcher Has To Make A House. While The Quality Of
Research Findings Depend On Data, The Adequacy Of Appropriate Data In Turn Depends Upon
Proper Method Of Data Collection. A Number Of Methods Are At The Disposal Of The
Researcher Of Which One Has To Select The Most Appropriate One For Visualizing The
Research Objective. Thus He Has To See That The Method Adopted Is Compatible With The
Resources And Research Study.
1) Primary Data: Data Which Are Collected Fresh And For The First Time And Thus
Happens To Be Original In Character. Primary Data Are Gathered For Specific Purpose.
2) Secondary Data: Data That Collected From Primary Data I.E., They Are Already
Exiting Some Where. For The Purpose Of Our Study We Collected Both The Data.
For The Purpose Of This Study We Collected:
Secondary Data through Induction Manual, Magazines, Corporate Journals And

Primary Data Through.
A) Questionnaire Method.
B) Interview Method.
26
3.5) STATITICAL TOOL USE FOR DATA ANALYSIS
There are various statistical tools for the research. Which are discussed as follow:-
1) Questionnaires: - a questionnaire consists of set of questions presented to respondents.
Because of its flexibility the questionnaire is by far the most common instrument used to
collect primary data. Questionnaires need to carefully developed, tested, and debugged
before they are administrated on a large scale.
In preparing a questionnaire, we carefully choose the questions and in their form,
wording, sequence.
There are the two kinds of questionnaire:-
A) Open end questions
B) Closed end questions
2) Psychological tools: - in the marketing survey we can probe a buyers deeper belief and
feelings using this tools such as laddering, depth interview and research test.
3) Mechanical devices: - mechanical devices are occasionally used in marketing survey.
Eye cameras study respondents eye movements too see where their eyes land first, how
long they linger on a given item.
4) Qualitative measures: - there are more qualitative methods for gauging consumer
opinion because consumer actions do not always match their answers to survey questions.
New tools as video, pagers, and informal interviewing will help for the market survey.
But from the above tools we are using questionnaire which are the mixture of open-end and
close-end questions.
