The Day Social Media Blew Up The World - Sask Summit 3.0Jeph Maystruck
The Day Social Media Blew Up The World was presented at the Sask Summit 3.0 in Regina Saskatchewan in April 2012.
The presentation was on how social media didn't actually blow up the world but how our interconnected world has only made word-of-mouth marketing more and more important. Combine the power of word-of-mouth with the ease of use of tools such as Twitter and you have a very powerful combination.
I use examples from local and other Twitter and Facebook accounts to show how we are communicating and how fast word spreads.

Out Care The Competition: how to succeed in a changing worldJeph Maystruck
Caring is a strategy. The companies of tomorrow will care about their employees and customers dearly. We love talking about great service and felling that moment of delight when someone offers us something unexpected. That's really all it is, the free prize inside the cereal box. The moment of job you experience when somethings delights you. The companies who out-care the competition will win.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Editor's Notes
There are 4 tracks within the Communication Arts Major at Salisbury. Each of these tracks offers a wide variety of classes which allows students to fine-tune a general curriculum to their specific needs. Whether you want to be a sports journalist, a political candidate, film-maker or an international mediator there are classes available to provide you with the educational tools you will need to pursue the career you want.
Internship opportunities give students an opportunity to get their foot in the door. When you graduate, having underwent an internship you will at least have a minimal amount of experience in your field, which looks good on your resume and gives you real-life practice to reinforce what you have learned.
There are many different job titles to be held with a communications degree. These jobs range from accounting to all kinds of media positions (ie radio, tv, film, magazine, newspaper etc.) government or even some surprising ones like speech coach or social workers.
There are very few companies/agencies etc who do NOT need some type of communications experts. Ad agencies, schools, tv networks, retail stores, for the state, PR firms or even event planning agencies and many more are all examples of possible employers.
Wide variety of activities and skills are gained. (editing, planning communicating across barriers, scheduling, managing, problem solving, collaborative or individual work abilities) these can be used and are valued in practically any position/job.
Study communication across many barriers, such as gender, race, culture, social status etc and learn to cope with differences to communicate effectively and amicably.
