This document provides requirements and guidance for a collage project. Students must create a poster-sized collage of at least 11x14 inches that takes up most of the space and illustrates either a stance on a topic or themselves. They should consider the composition, how materials like newspaper or photos will be cut, and whether other media will be included. Examples of collage artists Hannah Hoch and Romare Bearden are provided for inspiration.

! 1. Illustrate a topic and show the viewer your stance on
the topic
! Ex: negative portrayal of women in the media, bullying…
! 2. Illustrate yourself
! Your personality, what you like, what is important to you

3. Things to Think About
! Think about your composition and how you’re using
the space
! How are you going to cut out the pieces you are using?
! In their natural shape or a new shape
! What materials are you going to use?
! Newspaper, magazine, photos, computer prints
! Are you going to include any other media?
! Drawing, painting…
