GENERATING QUERY FACETS USING KNOWLEDGE BASESPrasadu Peddi
This document proposes a method to improve query facet mining by leveraging knowledge bases in addition to search results. Existing methods mine facets from frequent lists in top search results, which has limited coverage. The proposed method first generates facets based on entity properties in knowledge bases like Freebase that correspond to the query, and then expands initial facets mined from search results by finding similar entities in the knowledge base. An evaluation shows this approach significantly improves the coverage of facet items over state-of-the-art algorithms.
This document discusses systematic searching strategies for rigorous research. It outlines 3 basics: using more keywords through variations and synonyms, searching multiple databases including leading and supporting ones, and using advanced searching techniques. It then explains the 3 step process of identification, screening and eligibility. Key searching techniques are described like using thesaurus, field codes, phrase searching, truncation, wildcards, and Boolean operators.
Subject searching uses controlled subject terms and keywords to search databases in a more focused way. Subject terms allow consistent organization of articles regardless of keyword variations. Keywords are descriptive words for a topic found through research. The database suggests subject terms to aid discovery. An advanced search combines subject terms in the SU field with keywords joined by Boolean operators to narrow results about both the subject and keywords.
The document discusses advanced search and lookup features in RefWorks. It describes how to conduct an advanced search across multiple fields using Boolean operators and save search strategies. It also explains how to use author, descriptor, and periodical lookups to search and edit specific information in reference records. Lookups provide an alphabetical index of fields to locate and bulk edit terms consistently throughout references.

Webinar: Designing a schema for a Data WarehouseFederico Razzoli
Are you new to data warehouses (DWH)? Do you need to check whether your data warehouse follows the best practices for a good design? In both cases, this webinar is for you.
A data warehouse is a central relational database that contains all measurements about a business or an organisation. This data comes from a variety of heterogeneous data sources, which includes databases of any type that back the applications used by the company, data files exported by some applications, or APIs provided by internal or external services.
But designing a data warehouse correctly is a hard task, which requires gathering information about the business processes that need to be analysed in the first place. These processes must be translated into so-called star schemas, which means, denormalised databases where each table represents a dimension or facts.
We will discuss these topics:
- How to gather information about a business;
- Understanding dictionaries and how to identify business entities;
- Dimensions and facts;
- Setting a table granularity;
- Types of facts;
- Types of dimensions;
- Snowflakes and how to avoid them;
- Expanding existing dimensions and facts.
Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA

be transferred automatically to the new platform
• All searches remain accessible using you current Cochrane Library
username and password
• For successful migration of searches, users will be restricted from
saving new searches or editing existing searches for ~24 hours
prior to the “New Search” launch. This “embargo period” ensures
no changes are lost during the search migration.
• During the embargo period, users will be able to access all other
features of the Cochrane Library, including searching, viewing
articles and running saved searches.
