Project Description Objective :  To model a Single Dry Clutch Plate assembly To perform the Structural Analysis of the Contact Surfaces (Fly Wheel and Clutch Plate) To perform a modal analysis of the Clutch Plate (Natural Frequencies and Mode Shapes)

Structural Analysis Objective  To calculate the total deformation, Von-Misses stress, frictional stress and pressure experienced on the contact region. To mesh the components and apply the loads. Perform a Mesh convergence study.
Model the contact region between clutch plate and the fly wheel
Mesh For academic reasons a free mesh with constant strain triangular elements was used although it is not advisable to do so.

Mesh Refinement Studies
Conclusion ProE software package was used to model the entire assembly. Ansys Work Bench was used to perform the above mentioned analysis successfully. The maximum stresses of the assembly were found to be well within yield limits for the given loads and material properties. In this project the capabilities of Pro Engineer and Ansys Work Bench software package was explored.
