Cloud Computing And The Protection Of Intellectual Property
Trust in Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has a duty to protect data privacy and some countries are going to great measures
to further ensure that their data is kept within their national borders (Trend Micro, 2013). It has been
suggested that new ethics frameworks are necessary in order to instill trust in the industry based on
known parameters that include
the use of critical equipment,
management of critical data,
respect for privacy,
security and longevity of information,
And the protection of intellectual property.
Worldwide, both the public and private sectors have grown in their distrust and discomfort in the
ability of companies to handle user data properly. Trust must be restored by defining a clear line
between legitimate security concerns and an individual's right to privacy. One way to ensure privacy
is by separating the application that is being used (cloud service) from the data it stores and some
providers are already employing this method.
Privacy concerns recently increased after a private company, inBloom secured over 600 New York
schools as a client for student data handling (Trend Micro, 2013). inBloom described its effort as a
plan to integrate a technology that could aggregate and store student information for educational
institutions and then release it to approved third parties that would then personalize tools and
dashboards specifically for classroom educators and those students (Herold, 2014). They became the
target for many

Positioning and Differentiation Paper The positioning and differentiation strategies of two nearby
hospitals, St. Francis Hospital located in Roslyn, New York and the Schneider Children's Hospital in
New Hyde Park, New York will be discussed in this article. These two institutions are located in
Long Island, New York and are approximately 5.2 miles apart from each other, servicing the nearby
counties of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. These renowned facilities are recognized for their specialty

Special services are provided for Lyme disease, the deaf, food allergies, immunology, human
genetics, cardiac surgery, emergency and trauma. The facility proclaims to be "a destination hospital
for children across the United States and around the world" (Schneider Children's Hospital, n.d.,
para. 1). SCH is the only hospital located on Long Island dedicated to the care of children. It has
prided itself on being named one of America's best children's hospitals for two years in a row by the
U.S. News and World Report (Best Children's Hospitals: General Pediatrics, 2009). These rankings
are based on good community standing, patient outcomes and care–related issues as patient volume,
nursing care, advanced technology and recognition by outside organizations. The hospital has
several consultation centers throughout Long Island and New York City to offer specialized
healthcare to children right in their own community. The Centers provide specialized services for a
broad range of medical conditions such as heart disease, neurological disorders, cancer, Lyme
disease, growth deficiencies, and other childhood illnesses. The main marketing strategy to attract it
target audience is through a community newsletter, its participation in community events and
sponsorships, a pediatric mobile unit for the uninsured, television, radio and newspaper

A Healthy Does of Skepticism: The Effectiveness of Paul Kurtz
From an early age I considered myself to be a skeptic of all different subjects. My mother said that I
was always asking "why?" in order to find clarity as a child. I believe that this kind of skepticism
lives in all human beings, and that a healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing. According to Paul
Kurtz, "A skeptic is one who is willing to question any knowledge claim, asking for clarity in
definition, consistency in logic and adequacy of evidence." With that being said to what extent does
clarity in definition, consistency in logic, and adequacy of evidence validate a claim in the areas of
knowledge such as ethics and history? What does it take to validate a claim to the point where it
becomes a personal truth? I can ask "why?" as much as I would like but when will my skepticism be
satisfied and is Paul Kurtz process enough to find truth in different knowledge claims? In my
opinion, Paul Kurtz has a great system of evaluation but he is leaving out a key component and that
is experience. Before the effectiveness of Paul Kurtz process can be evaluated, it is necessary to
define skepticism apart from what Paul Kurtz believes. In simple terms a skeptic is anyone with a
questioning attitude towards knowledge, facts, or beliefs stated as facts, or doubt regarding claims
that are taken for granted elsewhere? By this definition a skeptic could doubt and question
something without being willing to receive any clarity on the subject. What I have gathered from the

A Study On Annan Academy 's Geography Class
Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, automatically making it the administrative centre of the county.
Other than administration, Carlisle has several other areas in which its activities are focused, such as
tourism, shopping, and education. These areas are known as settlement functions. Functions tend to
change and develop as a city grows over the years. Carlisle is a successful city, but whether or not
this is due to its changing functions is debatable.
Annan Academy's Geography class went to Carlisle in September 2015 to obtain primary research
data of the city's geographical issues.
Method 1
In order to figure out some of the current main functions of Carlisle, the first research method used
for this report was two RICEPOTS surveys of different areas in Carlisle – the CBD (the square near
the Tourist Information Centre) and the area from West Tower Street to Corporation Road. These
areas were chosen to display a contrast in the land usage of two areas of Carlisle which are close
together. The RICEPOTS surveys were completed by walking around the areas and annotating a
map with the purpose of each building in the area. Once both maps were annotated, the information
was put into a table before being compiled into a comparative bar graph (see: Graph 1).
The results show that West Tower Street to Corporation Road is largely residential, with 35 terraced
houses, and that the square near the Tourist Information Centre is largely commercial with 47

Oxford Plastics Company Essay
Oxford Plastics Company Case Analysis Oxford Plastics, the plant was located in a town near
Beatty, about 45,000 people. They manufactured a variety of products, from lawn ornaments, patio
furniture to automobiles. They employed about 3,000 workers. The company played an important
part in the economy and the entire state, offering few well paying factory jobs. In 2004 the Plant
manager Sam Henderson, announced major plans for an addition to the manufacturing plant. The
new shop would include a state of the art color lab and paint shop that would enable better and faster
matching of colors to customer requirements. The new shop would keep Oxford Plastics competitive

demeaning nature but for growth and opportunity that the town of Beatty is in great need, and if this
opportunity is not met in a quick manner, the fact of the matter is that there will not be a need for
land preservation for tourism because the land itself will not have any tourist. The town of Beatty is
really relying on the jobs that this addition is going to bring and the revenue that will be put back
into the state is in great need. In the days to come, this is a great opportunity for the families and
families that are to come. If we miss this opportunity now, there is no guarantee that another
corporation will not come in and put something in that will not destroy the land and place something
that will be even worse for the town of Beatty. This is guaranteed to be a safe and effective plan for
the town, proven by the EPA to be safer than previous practices. Henderson would need to be
concerning that the land is important and that is not what they want to do but to be rewarding for the
state and the town of Beatty there is no other choice. References: Based on "Mammoth Motors' New

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Crisis
Purpose:
The purpose of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Crisis Center Follow–Up program is to
promote systematic follow–up of suicidal persons who call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
(NSPL) network and those that are discharged from a partnering emergency department.
However, for those at imminent risk for suicide, emergency intervention is frequently initiated.
The grant will be awarded to eligible applicants that demonstrate the knowledge and ethical
capability to manage the award.
The eligible applicants must have the capability to help find solutions to the research findings that
denotes that the period after emergency suicide interventions is one of heightened risk for suicide,
with significant numbers of deaths occurring following discharge from either an emergency
department or inpatient hospitalization.
The Crisis Centers will follow–up with any individual at imminent risk of suicide within 48–hours
of discharge from a partnering emergency department or who was referred from a crisis center to a
partnering emergency department.
This grant program will continue to support the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration's ( SAMHSA) Prevention of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Strategic Initiative

Manet 's Bar At The Folies Bergere
Manet's Bar at the Folies–Bergère, one of the most perplexing and mysterious paintings to exist,
holds deep meaning and reflects French social life in this era. This work of art illustrates a Parisian
nightclub, the Folies–Bergère, which catered to a diverse set of acts including the circus and ballet.
It is here that the Barmaid works and where we see the interaction between her and the gentleman.
This is where an extremely important concept of the work appears– perspective. Throughout the
years there have been numerous interpretations and claims concerning why Manet painted the scene
as he did, whether or not the perspective is accurate, and how all of the elements including the
mirror and woman come together. Another fascinating element that comes from this scene is the
social aspects of French life during this time. This element comes into play in the relationship
between the barmaid and the gentleman in the top hat, the woman's expression, and the occupation
of the woman. Although there are many enlightening interpretations of Manet's work, there is one
that is particularly strong. Manet's use of perspective and inclusion of social matters both engages
the viewer and leads them to ponder what it is exactly that they are viewing. A reason this painting
has sparked so much interest and analysis is the mind–boggling perspective and reflection. One of
the first observations the viewer makes is that the barmaid and the barmaid's reflection do not go
together. Pullman

Data Center Assurance Program Project
Process Analysis
Cisco Systems went ahead with modified version of waterfall model for Data Center Assurance
Program (DCAP) project. Though waterfall model is old and have less success rate, it suited DCAP
project quite well. As the goals and scope of the project is fixed throughout the project and release
cycles are about 6–8 months it is easy to use waterfall model. Partial overlap between various
phases existed. This allowed for parallel execution of few tasks and helped in effective resource
utilization and on time project delivery. All the engineers are involved in all the stages of the project.
Also there any enough resources to replace the ones who left the project. Standard disaster recovery
practices of a real–time production data center are not fallowed, but those required for the project to
replicate the real–time scenario are used. For instance, to make sure the real time environment like
distance between two data centers, wan emulators are used.
Effectiveness of Initial Planning The detailed analysis of requirements and studying the real time
scenario by visiting customer's location proved to be good in refining project goals. No all the
project members are given opportunity to study customer's environment which is practiced due to
budget issues. The decision to fallow modified version of water fall model fitted the project quite
well. But the overlapping of the phases is not quite long and proved deficient. This resulted in
ineffective resource utilization.

Creativity And Art : Diego Rivera
Being born with a creativity is a grace of God, but utilizing the potential of it is the true face of
mankind. It takes courage to present creativity and art has always required belief. Diego Rivera was
the kind of person who had courage, belief and resources to become an Artist. Being born in
Guanajuato City to a well–off family, Rivera claimed to be descended, on his mother's side, from
Jews who converted to Roman Catholicism, and, on his father's side, from Spanish nobility. Rivera
began drawing at the age of three, a year after his twin brother's death. He had started drawing on
the walls but his parents rather than punishing him, they gave a him chalk board. He was introduced
to drawing in an unconventional way which clearly reflected on his character as well as on his art
works.
His artistic inclination brought him to Europe, Rivera drew upon the artform of cubism, created a
few years earlier by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Highlighted by brighter colors which
showed his aim for brighter life and a larger scale than many early cubist pictures, painting on
highly textured surfaces executed in a plethora of techniques which was the way he become famous
for.
The transformation of Diego Rivera course was inspired by the political ideals of the Mexican and
the Russian Revolution, Rivera wanted to make art that reflected the lives of the working class and
native peoples of Mexico. The Mexican revolution became a significant part of Diego's
comprehension and hence

stream of retail traffic. A critical component in downtown 's residential revival is the 50,000–square–

Currently, downtown retail rents average $22.33 per square foot, which is comparable to the rest of
the region. However, vacancy at 11 percent is double the countrywide average of 5.2 percent. That 's

employees, developed around $80.4 billion in revenue in 2016, which was a 7.9% increase from the
revenue consolidated in the previous year. Comcast Corporation's success can be traced down to the
extensive services the company provides. These services, including cable television, internet
services, voice over internet protocol, and content production, fall within two overlaying businesses
of Comcast Corporation: NBCUniversal and Comcast Cable. NBCUniversal operates news,

Services such as Netflix and Hulu, along with other platforms that employ digital distribution create
a prominent challenge for Comcast. To most consumers, online streaming is seen as a better option
compared to cable due to its convenience, lack of commercials, lower prices, and the availability to
"binge watch" (See Exhibit 1 for the leading video subscriptions in the U.S in 2016). This
increasingly growing platform presents a challenge for Comcast and how the company should
respond to the changing environment.
Strategic Solutions
In response to Google's initiative for fiber–based high–speed internet service, Comcast should focus
on adapting these fiber–optic capacities as a means of improving their own internet service.
Comcast holds a competitive advantage in infrastructure, and by updating their broadband network
with those driving Google Fiber, Comcast would be utilizing this advantage. An upgrade of
increased speeds and reliability will secure Comcast's dominant position in the internet provider
market.
Pros:
This will reduce the risk of customers switching to a different service provider for more advanced
offerings.
By providing top–notch streaming capabilities, Comcast will be able to remain a frontrunner of new
developments.
With the expansion of their network, Comcast will ensure that competitors will not

"Goodbye to All That" Analytical Essay
A Fair City
I could speak of Joan Didion's use of rhetorical devices. I could describe every subtle simile she
imposes and preach of her incredible use of personification, but I think the most important piece of
the essay would, then, be neglected. In "Goodbye to All That," Didion compares her experiences in
New York to the occurrences at a fair. This metaphor is discussed in a very roundabout way.
Ultimately, though, Didion (like anybody) grew tired and dissatisfied with the fair (in her case
NYC). Fairs lure people in through the gates with bright lights, loud buzzers, and exhilarating
games. These same tactics help to attract tourists to New York City. Like a kid at a fair, Didion
becomes enticed by such distractions and cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She admits, "Even that late in the game I still liked going to parties, all parties, bad parties" (p.687).
The connection to the fair in this case stems from a child's ability to be so keyed up and eager to
play as many games as they can, that they will even play games they do not like. "Bad" games
(Intentional fragment). This view and interest of the city, this time at the fair, ends. The ending is not
a definite point in time, but instead a gradual distaste for the details. Like the same child at the same
fair, at the same time, every year, Didion outgrows the city and is no longer intrigued. She states, "I
stopped believing in new faces" (p.687) and realizes, "It is distinctively possible to stay too long at
the Fair" (p.687). She cannot stand the identical conversations at Grand Central, the stuck up women
on Madison Ave., Times Square, or the New York Public Library. Eventually, Didion avoids these
places. Like a boy who has outgrown the annual fair, she promises to return after a six–month leave
of absence. Three years after Didion made that promise, she finds herself returning to the fair. Back
in New York, she realizes her acquaintances are no more and her friends had moved. She states, "We
stayed for ten days, and then we took the afternoon flight back to Los Angeles" (p.688). Boys, a
couple years removed from the correct age for attending the fair, promise to return. Sometimes they
do return and sometimes they do not. Like Didion did, they

After reading the articles about the North Korean missile launch on August 29th of 2017, Both news
sources portray bias in their own particular ways but Fox news seems to side. Fox states a quote
from Trump talking about all options are on the table due to the fact that North korea just shot a

threatening. The misle showed that it could reach Guam if it really wanted to. Where the

democratic source. Which is why I think they used more quotes on what Trump had to say about the
situation to make it seem worse than it really was. Where Fox just got right to the point of what was
going on about the missile launch.
One thing that I noticed that was really strange about both articles were how similar the title and the
start of the articles were to each other. The titles are almost the exact same the word choice is used a
little differently but very similar. As for the start of each article they both start off with the exact
same line with "President Trump said Tuesday that "all options are on the table". Then briefly after
that get into the main subject of their stories. The washington post provided a picture of trump right
at the top of the article as well as a video of trump talking about the event and a video of the missile
being launched by north korea. Where Fox only provided one video of just 2 males talking about the
event. All of these are very different from each other and both are setting different tones and giving
setting a bias tone in my opinion.
The articles both had very different sources on where they got their information for the article. Fox
news claims that the associated press contributed to the report. Where on the other hand the

What is Dracunculiasis?
What is Dracunculiasis?
Dracunculiasis is an infection by the guinea worm, which is a type of parasite, that benefits or feeds
off another organism to survive. People may become infected when they drink water that contains
water fleas infected with guinea worm larvae, at fist there are no symptoms one can look for but
about one year later, the person will develop a painful, burning feeling as the female worm forms a
blister in the skin, usually on the lower limb. Then the person infected will get a fever; have nausea,
voting, diarrhea, itchy rash and dizziness. Then the worm comes out of the skin over which causes
the person to have difficulty to walk, work or do any type of active activity. Most of time the worms
come out of the legs and feet, but they can as well can come out from anywhere on the body.
Why target Dracunculiasis?
Even thought that dracunculiasis can cause death it is very uncommon that they do. On the other
hand the wound where the worm come out of could develop a secondary bacterial infection such as
"tetanus, which may be life threatening which causes a concern in endemic areas where there is
typically no access to health care and where the disease exist which are mainly in poor countries."
According to the center for diseases control and prevention website says that, "at least in the

The League 's Best Center For The Past Seasons
1. DeMarcus Cousins– Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins has been the league's best center for
the past few seasons. Night in and night out, Cousins produces at an All–Star caliber level.
Unfortunately he hasn't been recognized for immense talent due to the ineptitude of the franchise he
plays for (yeah, I'm looking at you Sacramento). Last season was Cousins' best, he finished the year
with per game averages of 26.9 points (4th in the league), 11.5 rebounds (5th in the league), and 1.4
blocks. He capped of the season with his second consecutive All–NBA Second Team appearance.

With the emergence of his game on the offensive end of the floor, Jordan was rewarded– being
named to the All–NBA First Team this past season. Jordan had a career year. He finished the season
with per game averages of 12.7 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Although he didn't
lead the NBA in rebounding this past season, he leads the NBA in total rebounds over the last three
seasons, finishing first in that category twice. Jordan's athletic ability is his biggest strength. It
allows the Clippers' to run their free–flowing, fast up–tempo offense at a peek level. Without Jordan
the offense and defense would function at much more inefficient level. The only knock on Jordan's
game is his inability to convert at the free–throw line. He's among the worst free–throw shooters in
NBA history, but even so, Jordan's value should not be overlooked. He's just as important to the
Clippers as Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. 4. Andre Drummond– Detroit Pistons Since entering the
league in 2012, Andre Drummond has evolved immensely as a player. When he entered the league,
Drummond was a liability on both ends of the floor– showing an inability to play efficiently on
either end, but now, four short years later, Drummond is absolute force on both ends of the floor. His

Cost Center Definition
Unlike a profit center, a cost center is not operated with the intention of earning revenue or making a
profit directly. Instead, it is a part of a business that generates costs without making money. A cost
center only enables profit centers to generate revenue. For example, in a small retail business, each
store, or each class of products, may operate as a profit center, while the customer service and
human resources divisions operate as cost centers.
A cost centre is a department within a company that does not produce direct profit and adds to the
cost of running a company. However, all cost centres perform an important job. It improves the
satisfaction of customers and indirectly increases sales.[1] The manager and employees of cost
centre are not accountable for its profit and investment decision but they are responsible for its cost.
[2] They are liable for keeping their cost in line or below budget because cost centre does not
produce directly from its activities.[3] The performance of the managers is assessed by comparing
the actual expenses incurred with the budgeted expenses for the cost centre. Basically cost is the
control data in the cost centre. [
Furthermore, the main objective of a cost centre is to minimize cost whereas

High Value Care Is A Driving Force And Affordable Care Act...
High value care is a driving force in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Of
particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care
outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center
model as a means of providing high–quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012
listed Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care.
The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study
confirmed the long standing belief that midwife–led birth centers provide a safe and effective health
care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS)

proposing the construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville
Midwifery Care. After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second
birth center near the Patewood Memorial Hospital.
Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in
Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York

Beyond Katrina:
Improving Disaster Response Capabilities
By Arnold M. Howitt and Herman B. "Dutch" Leonard, Kennedy School of Government
As Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma successively lashed the gulf coast starting in late August
2005, nature's fury exposed serious weaknesses in the United States' emergency response
capabilities. Not all emergencies pose this magnitude of challenge. In the United States, the initial–
and usually major–responsibility for disaster response rests with local authorities. This "bottom–up"
system of emergency management has a long history and continues to make sense in most
circumstances. Core Challenges for Large–Scale Disaster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Katrina was a crisis primarily because of its scale and the mixture of challenges that it posed, not
least the failure of the levees in New Orleans. Because of the novelty of a crisis, predetermined
emergency plans and response behavior that may function quite well in dealing with routine
emergencies are frequently grossly inadequate or even counterproductive. That proved true in New
Orleans, for example, in terms of evacuation planning, law enforcement, rescue activities,
sheltering, and provisions for the elderly and infirm.
evacuation, making emergency repairs to the levees, and providing food and law and order in an
unprepared shelter). These measures, born of necessity, may be quite different from or exceed in
scale anything responders have done before. They must be creative and extremely adaptable to
execute improvised tactics. Equipping organizations to recognize the novelty in a crisis and
improvise skillfully is thus a far different (and far more difficult) matter from preparing mainly to
implement preset emergency plans. Scalability and Surge Capacity In many disasters, as Katrina
well illustrated, responders must cope with far greater numbers of endangered people or more
extensive damage than usual. To scale up operations to handle this surge of demand, emergency
agencies require access to resources in larger quantities than normal and frequently to specialized
equipment or

Designing For Many Architects And Designers
Designing for people is a challenge for many architects and designers. The idea of creating
something innovative, beautiful or in this case, sculptural, which stands the test of time, is ideal for
many designers. But what happens when a building doesn't meet the needs of its occupants? What
happens when, what is considered, a magnificent architectural feat begins to leak, grow mold and

The Ray and Maria Stata Center for Computer, Information and Intelligence Sciences (also referred
to as Building 32) is housed on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) historic Building
20 site. Between 1946 and 1948, Building 20 functioned primarily as a temporary facility
specifically for wartime outdoor training exercises, and as a research laboratory for war related
innovations. Building 20 continued to function as a research facility until its 1998 demolition.
Architect, Frank Gehry was selected, from a pool of sixteen firms, to design the new building after
funding became available through a donation from Ray and Maria Stata in 1998. The Institute
sought a daring design that set them a part and portrayed the school as the best. The criteria initially
established by MIT in 1989 proposed buildings that wrapped around the exterior of the site, opening
the interior space to the campus. This didn't quite match Gehry's vision. Instead, Gehry challenged
MIT's traditional bar buildings by dividing the building mass into clusters, connecting the interiors

March 1, 2015
Through the employment of contemporary virtualization technologies, with the incorporation of
advanced tools that expands the coverage of the systems administrator, the cost and labor of
operations will be significantly lowered. Efficiency improvement will have a direct impact on
operation costs of many institutions. Resources that could have been used in the buying and
maintaining data center infrastructure will be used in citizen centered services and other new
innovations that can go a long way to assist the citizen and ensure smooth running of the
government. Therefore, cloud computing will be a driving force to ensuring efficiency in the way
public resources are managed to the advantage of the people.
Every public office has a data center infrastructure where its data is stored and retrieved when
needed. In most cases, this infrastructure is underutilized. With cloud computing, the data storage
sections are eliminated because of pooling of IT Infrastructure resources and sharing across a large
number of organizations and offices that are possible with cloud computing. The wastage that is
realized when data centered are not utilized is thus eliminated because different offices have peak
seasons in different times hence making the system to be put in use all year round. This ensures that
public assets are better utilized and loses reduces or even eliminated.

Cloud Computing And The Protection Of Intellectual Property

  • 1. Cloud Computing And The Protection Of Intellectual Property Trust in Cloud Computing Cloud computing has a duty to protect data privacy and some countries are going to great measures to further ensure that their data is kept within their national borders (Trend Micro, 2013). It has been suggested that new ethics frameworks are necessary in order to instill trust in the industry based on known parameters that include the use of critical equipment, management of critical data, respect for privacy, security and longevity of information, And the protection of intellectual property. Worldwide, both the public and private sectors have grown in their distrust and discomfort in the ability of companies to handle user data properly. Trust must be restored by defining a clear line between legitimate security concerns and an individual's right to privacy. One way to ensure privacy is by separating the application that is being used (cloud service) from the data it stores and some providers are already employing this method. Privacy concerns recently increased after a private company, inBloom secured over 600 New York schools as a client for student data handling (Trend Micro, 2013). inBloom described its effort as a plan to integrate a technology that could aggregate and store student information for educational institutions and then release it to approved third parties that would then personalize tools and dashboards specifically for classroom educators and those students (Herold, 2014). They became the target for many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These two institutions are located in Long Island, New York and are approximately 5.2 miles apart from each other, servicing the nearby counties of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. Special services are provided for Lyme disease, the deaf, food allergies, immunology, human genetics, cardiac surgery, emergency and trauma. The facility proclaims to be "a destination hospital for children across the United States and around the world" (Schneider Children's Hospital, n.d., para. 1). SCH is the only hospital located on Long Island dedicated to the care of children. It has prided itself on being named one of America's best children's hospitals for two years in a row by the U.S. News and World Report (Best Children's Hospitals: General Pediatrics, 2009). These rankings are based on good community standing, patient outcomes and care–related issues as patient volume, nursing care, advanced technology and recognition by outside organizations. The hospital has several consultation centers throughout Long Island and New York City to offer specialized healthcare to children right in their own community. The Centers provide specialized services for a broad range of medical conditions such as heart disease, neurological disorders, cancer, Lyme disease, growth deficiencies, and other childhood illnesses. The main marketing strategy to attract it target audience is through a community newsletter, its participation in community events and sponsorships, a pediatric mobile unit for the uninsured, television, radio and newspaper advertisements. • 5. A Healthy Does of Skepticism: The Effectiveness of Paul Kurtz From an early age I considered myself to be a skeptic of all different subjects. My mother said that I was always asking "why?" in order to find clarity as a child. I believe that this kind of skepticism lives in all human beings, and that a healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing. According to Paul Kurtz, "A skeptic is one who is willing to question any knowledge claim, asking for clarity in definition, consistency in logic and adequacy of evidence." With that being said to what extent does clarity in definition, consistency in logic, and adequacy of evidence validate a claim in the areas of knowledge such as ethics and history? What does it take to validate a claim to the point where it becomes a personal truth? I can ask "why?" as much as I would like but when will my skepticism be satisfied and is Paul Kurtz process enough to find truth in different knowledge claims? In my opinion, Paul Kurtz has a great system of evaluation but he is leaving out a key component and that is experience. Before the effectiveness of Paul Kurtz process can be evaluated, it is necessary to define skepticism apart from what Paul Kurtz believes. In simple terms a skeptic is anyone with a questioning attitude towards knowledge, facts, or beliefs stated as facts, or doubt regarding claims that are taken for granted elsewhere? By this definition a skeptic could doubt and question something without being willing to receive any clarity on the subject. What I have gathered from the quote by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. A Study On Annan Academy 's Geography Class Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, automatically making it the administrative centre of the county. Other than administration, Carlisle has several other areas in which its activities are focused, such as tourism, shopping, and education. These areas are known as settlement functions. Functions tend to change and develop as a city grows over the years. Carlisle is a successful city, but whether or not this is due to its changing functions is debatable. Annan Academy's Geography class went to Carlisle in September 2015 to obtain primary research data of the city's geographical issues. Method 1 In order to figure out some of the current main functions of Carlisle, the first research method used for this report was two RICEPOTS surveys of different areas in Carlisle – the CBD (the square near the Tourist Information Centre) and the area from West Tower Street to Corporation Road. These areas were chosen to display a contrast in the land usage of two areas of Carlisle which are close together. The RICEPOTS surveys were completed by walking around the areas and annotating a map with the purpose of each building in the area. Once both maps were annotated, the information was put into a table before being compiled into a comparative bar graph (see: Graph 1). The results show that West Tower Street to Corporation Road is largely residential, with 35 terraced houses, and that the square near the Tourist Information Centre is largely commercial with 47 specialist shops ... They manufactured a variety of products, from lawn ornaments, patio furniture to automobiles. They employed about 3,000 workers. The company played an important part in the economy and the entire state, offering few well paying factory jobs. In 2004 the Plant manager Sam Henderson, announced major plans for an addition to the manufacturing plant. The new shop would include a state of the art color lab and paint shop that would enable better and faster matching of colors to customer requirements. The new shop would keep Oxford Plastics competitive in the fast paced global market for plastics. Once the new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Making sure that the town and council understands that the land is not being uprooted for any demeaning nature but for growth and opportunity that the town of Beatty is in great need, and if this opportunity is not met in a quick manner, the fact of the matter is that there will not be a need for land preservation for tourism because the land itself will not have any tourist. The town of Beatty is really relying on the jobs that this addition is going to bring and the revenue that will be put back into the state is in great need. In the days to come, this is a great opportunity for the families and families that are to come. If we miss this opportunity now, there is no guarantee that another corporation will not come in and put something in that will not destroy the land and place something that will be even worse for the town of Beatty. This is guaranteed to be a safe and effective plan for the town, proven by the EPA to be safer than previous practices. Henderson would need to be concerning that the land is important and that is not what they want to do but to be rewarding for the state and the town of Beatty there is no other choice. • 17. Manet 's Bar At The Folies Bergere Manet's Bar at the Folies–Bergère, one of the most perplexing and mysterious paintings to exist, holds deep meaning and reflects French social life in this era. This work of art illustrates a Parisian nightclub, the Folies–Bergère, which catered to a diverse set of acts including the circus and ballet. It is here that the Barmaid works and where we see the interaction between her and the gentleman. This is where an extremely important concept of the work appears– perspective. Throughout the years there have been numerous interpretations and claims concerning why Manet painted the scene as he did, whether or not the perspective is accurate, and how all of the elements including the mirror and woman come together. Another fascinating element that comes from this scene is the social aspects of French life during this time. This element comes into play in the relationship between the barmaid and the gentleman in the top hat, the woman's expression, and the occupation of the woman. Although there are many enlightening interpretations of Manet's work, there is one that is particularly strong. Manet's use of perspective and inclusion of social matters both engages the viewer and leads them to ponder what it is exactly that they are viewing. A reason this painting has sparked so much interest and analysis is the mind–boggling perspective and reflection. One of the first observations the viewer makes is that the barmaid and the barmaid's reflection do not go together. Pullman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Data Center Assurance Program Project Process Analysis Cisco Systems went ahead with modified version of waterfall model for Data Center Assurance Program (DCAP) project. Though waterfall model is old and have less success rate, it suited DCAP project quite well. As the goals and scope of the project is fixed throughout the project and release cycles are about 6–8 months it is easy to use waterfall model. Partial overlap between various phases existed. This allowed for parallel execution of few tasks and helped in effective resource utilization and on time project delivery. All the engineers are involved in all the stages of the project. Also there any enough resources to replace the ones who left the project. Standard disaster recovery practices of a real–time production data center are not fallowed, but those required for the project to replicate the real–time scenario are used. For instance, to make sure the real time environment like distance between two data centers, wan emulators are used. Effectiveness of Initial Planning The detailed analysis of requirements and studying the real time scenario by visiting customer's location proved to be good in refining project goals. No all the project members are given opportunity to study customer's environment which is practiced due to budget issues. The decision to fallow modified version of water fall model fitted the project quite well. But the overlapping of the phases is not quite long and proved deficient. This resulted in ineffective resource utilization. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Creativity And Art : Diego Rivera Being born with a creativity is a grace of God, but utilizing the potential of it is the true face of mankind. It takes courage to present creativity and art has always required belief. Diego Rivera was the kind of person who had courage, belief and resources to become an Artist. Being born in Guanajuato City to a well–off family, Rivera claimed to be descended, on his mother's side, from Jews who converted to Roman Catholicism, and, on his father's side, from Spanish nobility. Rivera began drawing at the age of three, a year after his twin brother's death. He had started drawing on the walls but his parents rather than punishing him, they gave a him chalk board. He was introduced to drawing in an unconventional way which clearly reflected on his character as well as on his art works. His artistic inclination brought him to Europe, Rivera drew upon the artform of cubism, created a few years earlier by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Highlighted by brighter colors which showed his aim for brighter life and a larger scale than many early cubist pictures, painting on highly textured surfaces executed in a plethora of techniques which was the way he become famous for. The transformation of Diego Rivera course was inspired by the political ideals of the Mexican and the Russian Revolution, Rivera wanted to make art that reflected the lives of the working class and native peoples of Mexico. • 34. "Goodbye to All That" Analytical Essay A Fair City I could speak of Joan Didion's use of rhetorical devices. I could describe every subtle simile she imposes and preach of her incredible use of personification, but I think the most important piece of the essay would, then, be neglected. In "Goodbye to All That," Didion compares her experiences in New York to the occurrences at a fair. This metaphor is discussed in a very roundabout way. Ultimately, though, Didion (like anybody) grew tired and dissatisfied with the fair (in her case NYC). Fairs lure people in through the gates with bright lights, loud buzzers, and exhilarating games. These same tactics help to attract tourists to New York City. Like a kid at a fair, Didion becomes enticed by such distractions and cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Bad" games (Intentional fragment). This view and interest of the city, this time at the fair, ends. The ending is not a definite point in time, but instead a gradual distaste for the details. Like the same child at the same fair, at the same time, every year, Didion outgrows the city and is no longer intrigued. She states, "I stopped believing in new faces" (p.687) and realizes, "It is distinctively possible to stay too long at the Fair" (p.687). She cannot stand the identical conversations at Grand Central, the stuck up women on Madison Ave., Times Square, or the New York Public Library. Eventually, Didion avoids these places. Like a boy who has outgrown the annual fair, she promises to return after a six–month leave of absence. Three years after Didion made that promise, she finds herself returning to the fair. Back in New York, she realizes her acquaintances are no more and her friends had moved. She states, "We stayed for ten days, and then we took the afternoon flight back to Los Angeles" (p.688). Boys, a couple years removed from the correct age for attending the fair, promise to return. Sometimes they do return and sometimes they do not. Like Didion did, they ... Our tiny circle of six sat in silence for a while, dejected and a little angry. We were given our lunch and began to eat together, but the almost tangible silence remained hanging in the air. Howitt and Herman B. "Dutch" Leonard, Kennedy School of Government As Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma successively lashed the gulf coast starting in late August 2005, nature's fury exposed serious weaknesses in the United States' emergency response capabilities. Not all emergencies pose this magnitude of challenge. In the United States, the initial– and usually major–responsibility for disaster response rests with local authorities. This "bottom–up" system of emergency management has a long history and continues to make sense in most circumstances. Core Challenges for Large–Scale Disaster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Katrina was a crisis primarily because of its scale and the mixture of challenges that it posed, not least the failure of the levees in New Orleans. Because of the novelty of a crisis, predetermined emergency plans and response behavior that may function quite well in dealing with routine emergencies are frequently grossly inadequate or even counterproductive. That proved true in New Orleans, for example, in terms of evacuation planning, law enforcement, rescue activities, sheltering, and provisions for the elderly and infirm. evacuation, making emergency repairs to the levees, and providing food and law and order in an unprepared shelter). These measures, born of necessity, may be quite different from or exceed in scale anything responders have done before. They must be creative and extremely adaptable to execute improvised tactics. Equipping organizations to recognize the novelty in a crisis and improvise skillfully is thus a far different (and far more difficult) matter from preparing mainly to implement preset emergency plans. Scalability and Surge Capacity In many disasters, as Katrina well illustrated, responders must cope with far greater numbers of endangered people or more extensive damage than usual. To scale up operations to handle this surge of demand, emergency agencies require access to resources in larger quantities than normal and frequently to specialized equipment or ... Catch Probability (http://m.mlb.com/news/article/217802340/statcast–introduces–catch–probability–for– 2017/) attempts to determine the difficulty to catch each ball hit into the outfield based on how far the fielder had to run to catch the ball and how long he had to get there. Based on the ability to quantify each play, they've put many catches into five categories (http://m.mlb.com/news/article/218680408/dalton–pompey–helps–explain–catch–probability/). Five star plays are converted between 0 to 25 percent of the time and require a speed of 30 feet per fastest second, four star plays are converted between 26 to 50 percent of the time and require a speed of 29 feet per fastest second, three star plays are converted 51 to 75 percent of the time and require a speed of 28 feet per fastest second, two star plays are converted 76 to 90 percent of the time while requiring a speed of 27 feet per fastest second and one star plays are converted 91 to 95 percent of the time and require a speed of 26 feet per fastest second. ... • 68. Designing For Many Architects And Designers Designing for people is a challenge for many architects and designers. The idea of creating something innovative, beautiful or in this case, sculptural, which stands the test of time, is ideal for many designers. But what happens when a building doesn't meet the needs of its occupants? What happens when, what is considered, a magnificent architectural feat begins to leak, grow mold and become a safety hazard? The Ray and Maria Stata Center for Computer, Information and Intelligence Sciences (also referred to as Building 32) is housed on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) historic Building 20 site. Between 1946 and 1948, Building 20 functioned primarily as a temporary facility specifically for wartime outdoor training exercises, and as a research laboratory for war related innovations. Building 20 continued to function as a research facility until its 1998 demolition. Architect, Frank Gehry was selected, from a pool of sixteen firms, to design the new building after funding became available through a donation from Ray and Maria Stata in 1998. The Institute sought a daring design that set them a part and portrayed the school as the best. The criteria initially established by MIT in 1989 proposed buildings that wrapped around the exterior of the site, opening the interior space to the campus. This didn't quite match Gehry's vision. Instead, Gehry challenged MIT's traditional bar buildings by dividing the building mass into clusters, connecting the interiors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, cloud computing will be a driving force to ensuring efficiency in the way public resources are managed to the advantage of the people. Every public office has a data center infrastructure where its data is stored and retrieved when needed. In most cases, this infrastructure is underutilized. With cloud computing, the data storage sections are eliminated because of pooling of IT Infrastructure resources and sharing across a large number of organizations and offices that are possible with cloud computing. The wastage that is realized when data centered are not utilized is thus eliminated because different offices have peak seasons in different times hence making the system to be put in use all year round. This ensures that public assets are better utilized and loses reduces or even eliminated. Due to fragmented nature of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
