The first shot the audience sees is of Dylan
exiting the front door of his class house. From
this shot the audience should be able to assume
that Dylan is from a middle class background, as
his family has enough money to buy an attached
house and maintain the garden. This is a fair
representation of the middle class because it
shows they do not all have the money to buy
detached houses in the country side, but they do
have enough time to maintain their own garden.
Dylan is seen running out of his house fairly
early in the morning, which is not typical of
most people in today’s society. This
represents teenagers as being fit males that
can run long distances at any time during the
day, who rebel against their parents by being
late. Therefore, this also represents teenagers
as being un-organized and unprepared for
what they need to do in the morning.
Location
It is shown that Dylan has been carrying a
black coat in his bag since the beginning. This
black colour connotes the idea that all
teenagers have a darker side inside them,
which is reinforced by Dylan’s black shoes,
black jeans, and black bag. This also represents
the idea that Dylan doesn’t want to be seen by
anybody, as he is covering up his bright red
jacket. The bright red connotes the idea of
romance and love, which represents the idea
that all teenagers are looking for love and
don’t think of anything else.
In this long shot Dylan is bending over so that
all of him can be seen in the shot. This
represents the idea that teenagers care about
what they look like, and want other people to
notice them; even though in this shot, no
other people can be seen. Therefore, this
represents teenagers as being self indulgent,
for wanting to be the most important person,
even though no one is there with him.
Clothing, Costume & Camera
In the scene showed above Dylan is shown
realizing he has gone in the wrong direction,
and must run back. This negatively represents
teenagers as being careless and not paying
attention to what they are doing. However,
this also represents teenagers as having a
strong resilience, because Dylan keeps on
running even though he has run into a minor
setback.
Based upon Dylan’s facial expressions in this
scene the audience can assume that he is fed
up with what he is doing. This represents
teenagers as being annoyed at themselves.
This is based on the fact that Dylan only has
himself to blame for making that mistake, and
as there is nobody else around he cannot
blame them.

  • 1. The first shot the audience sees is of Dylan exiting the front door of his class house. From this shot the audience should be able to assume that Dylan is from a middle class background, as his family has enough money to buy an attached house and maintain the garden. This is a fair representation of the middle class because it shows they do not all have the money to buy detached houses in the country side, but they do have enough time to maintain their own garden. Dylan is seen running out of his house fairly early in the morning, which is not typical of most people in today’s society. This represents teenagers as being fit males that can run long distances at any time during the day, who rebel against their parents by being late. Therefore, this also represents teenagers as being un-organized and unprepared for what they need to do in the morning. Location
  • 2. It is shown that Dylan has been carrying a black coat in his bag since the beginning. This black colour connotes the idea that all teenagers have a darker side inside them, which is reinforced by Dylan’s black shoes, black jeans, and black bag. This also represents the idea that Dylan doesn’t want to be seen by anybody, as he is covering up his bright red jacket. The bright red connotes the idea of romance and love, which represents the idea that all teenagers are looking for love and don’t think of anything else. In this long shot Dylan is bending over so that all of him can be seen in the shot. This represents the idea that teenagers care about what they look like, and want other people to notice them; even though in this shot, no other people can be seen.   • 3. In the scene showed above Dylan is shown realizing he has gone in the wrong direction, and must run back. This negatively represents teenagers as being careless and not paying attention to what they are doing. However, this also represents teenagers as having a strong resilience, because Dylan keeps on running even though he has run into a minor setback. Based upon Dylan’s facial expressions in this scene the audience can assume that he is fed up with what he is doing. This represents teenagers as being annoyed at themselves. This is based on the fact that Dylan only has himself to blame for making that mistake, and as there is nobody else around he cannot blame them. Body and Face
