2. Dahlia
Dahlia, 16, is the elder sister of
Cynthia, and she is very much
takes care of her younger
sibling. This is shown when she
rushed into the bedroom and
shouts at Cynthia to get into
cupboard to hide from their
raging father. When the two
sisters are hiding in cupboard,
Dahlia is trying to shush and
calm down her younger sister,
this shows how much of a
caring character she is through
the script and her actions.
3. Dahlia
Dahlia is a rather typical character of an
elder sister who is caring towards her
younger sibling and wants to protect her. Yet
Dahlia’s strength is no match to her fathers
as he eventually kills her and Cynthia and
this is a major part in the plot of the film. We
wanted Dahlia to look semi-creepy with the
long hair, fringe and paler complexion.
Although not from thriller, Dahlia can be
easily compared with Wednesday Addams
from the Addams Family.
Although, she looks rather creepy,
Wednesday also looks after her younger
siblings, much like Dahlia. Although some
physical differences e.g. the hairstyle,
clothes, speech etc. They both very much
believe in the importance in family.
What our film suggests about teenage girls
that love their siblings is that no matter what,
they feel responsible for their family, and
want to protect them no matter what.
4. Cynthia
Cynthia is the younger sister to
Dahlia, and although looking similar
ages, Cynthia is not nearly as
independent as her older sibling.
Cynthia is not as smart either, as
she is seen always questioning
Dahlia about what is happening. She
does not understand why her father
is trying to hurt her and where her
mother is gone (killed by father).
Despite being 13 year old, Cynthia
does not understand certain
instructions. This is shown when she
refuses to be quiet despite Dahlia
constantly shushing her.
5. Cynthia
Although much unlike the stereotypical
younger sister look (blue eyes, blonde
hair, much younger looking). Cynthia as
a character has many personality traits
that match other younger sisters that
also depend on their older sisters. This
is much like the character Lily in the
2013 film ‘Mama’ which was a
supernatural horror.
The two characters are similar in the fact
that they both do no understand what is
exactly going on, and look to their elder
sister for answers. They depend on
them rather than their parents due to
them not being there for them as much.
The two characters represent this
particular group in society due to their
very typical younger sister traits e.g.
Always asking questions and getting
scared quite easily compared to their
elder siblings.
