banquet halls, recreation facilities etc.
 Eg. Ananta, radisson, inder residency in udaipur
 Full hotel is booked for events like marriages,
 Eg Tata motors company is conducting dealers
meeting for 300 pax, for 2 days
 All food provided by hotels so 1 day revenue 20
lakh rupees per day
 HOMESTAY : 1 to 6 rooms, guests stay with the
family in their home, foreigners like to see the
culture, traditions , food of India
 GUEST HOUSE : more then 6 rooms, owner living
in house welcome guests, are cheaper then hotels,
have dining area, eg. Near jagdish chowk, lal ghat
areas, licence is easy to take from the local rajastha
tourism office.
 BED AND BREAKFAST : home owner provides
bed and breakfast facility to the guest/ tourist.
OTHERS
 Carvan : mobile homes , banjaras, horse/ camel
safari for 2-3 days from udaipur to kumbhalgarh,
carry tents, food, etc
 Rotels : rotating hotels , moving double decker
buses, have beds, toilets, for long journey
 Matels : fully automated hotels, through machines
and computers, mobile checkin, e payments and
checkout,
 Sanatoria : spa hotels, kerela , ayurvedic treatment

BASED ON OWNERSHIP
 Independent hotels : hotels are owned by
individuals, family, properitorship firm, company.
Maximum hotels in india are independent
 Chain hotels : a company/ group having many
hotels at different locations , use same brand
Indian brands : Taj( Taj, Ginger ,Vivanta ), Leela,
ITC, Oberoi ( Oberoi, Trident), Ananta,
International brands : Marriott, Radisson, Holiday
Inn, Sheraton, IHG, Ramada,
TYPE OF CONTRACTS
 Partnership : between owner of hotel and financer.
Lease agreement. Share profits and liabilities.
 Management contract : owner of a hotel does not
want to run hotel. He gives the hotel to other
company to manage the property. Eg. Sheraton will
manage the hotel, their team of managers, hotel
will get international recognisation and will be
marketed by the chain. Chain will get 3 - 5% of net
income / turnover or 10 -15 % of gross operating
profit
 Franchisee : chain will give its brand name/
marketing /central reservation system access to the
hotel. Eg holiday inn / days inn etc. hotel should
maintain the standards set by the chain / brand
 Affiliated : some hotels affiliate / join themselves to
some clubs / chains. Eg club mahindra, RCI(
resorts condominium international), oyo rooms

 EP European plan
includes room tariff only
 CP Continental Plan
room tariff+ continental breakfast
 MAP Modified American plan
room tariff + breakfast + one meal( lunch/dinner)
 AP American Plan
room charges + breakfast + lunch + dinner

  • 15. BASED ON OWNERSHIP  Independent hotels : hotels are owned by individuals, family, properitorship firm, company. Maximum hotels in india are independent  Chain hotels : a company/ group having many hotels at different locations , use same brand Indian brands : Taj( Taj, Ginger ,Vivanta ), Leela, ITC, Oberoi ( Oberoi, Trident), Ananta, International brands : Marriott, Radisson, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, IHG, Ramada,
  • 16. TYPE OF CONTRACTS  Partnership : between owner of hotel and financer. Lease agreement. Share profits and liabilities.  Management contract : owner of a hotel does not want to run hotel. He gives the hotel to other company to manage the property. Eg. Sheraton will manage the hotel, their team of managers, hotel will get international recognisation and will be marketed by the chain. Chain will get 3 - 5% of net income / turnover or 10 -15 % of gross operating profit
  • 17.  Franchisee : chain will give its brand name/ marketing /central reservation system access to the hotel. Eg holiday inn / days inn etc. hotel should maintain the standards set by the chain / brand  Affiliated : some hotels affiliate / join themselves to some clubs / chains. Eg club mahindra, RCI( resorts condominium international), oyo rooms
