3. • Clang frontend released under open-source licence on July 11, 2007 even though it
was initially released on September 26, 2007
• Chris Lattner is the original developer
•The LLVM(Low Level Virtual Machine) developer maintains it
• The LLVM is a compiler infrastructure project used to develop a front end for any
programming language and a back end for any instruction set architecture

•Designed to act as a drop-in replacement for the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC),
supporting most of its compilation flags and unofficial language extensions
