The Citigroup Center in New York City was constructed between 1974-1977. It stands 915 feet tall with 59 floors. In 1978, it was discovered that a structural error could cause the building to collapse in strong winds at a 45 degree angle. Bracing was added to reinforce the structure and prevent catastrophe. The building employs a tuned mass damper and braced tube structural system to withstand lateral forces from wind.
