The global protection gap is widening, reaching a new high of $1.4 trillion in 2020 (according to Swiss Re).
In many countries, accessibility issues have been a primary impediment to market penetration.
Historically dominated by agents, insurance is sold mostly to the more affluent segments of society, leaving the mass market largely underinsured or even uninsured.
Poor insurance penetration rates were stark during the COVID-19 pandemic and heightened global awareness about the importance of getting insurance protection.
Advances in digital technology and internet access via smartphones have created an opportunity for insurers like Chubb to make micro-insurance products more accessible and less expensive.
Chubb’s ability to integrate micro-insurance products into mobile-based apps and platforms has helped to significantly improve customer outreach and insurance awareness. At the same time, customers benefit from a seamless, contextual insurance experience, taking our Net Promoter Score (Achieved 90+ average client NPS. The score is measured in the first year of new partnership with a fintech company) to the next level.
Many of Chubb’s distribution partners place a high priority on the social aspect of providing embedded insurance offerings to their customer base.
Grab passengers can opt to be insured for Personal Accident by adding a very small amount of premium of about USD 0.20 for each ride. The coverages include trip delay, accidental death, permanent total disablement and medical expenses.
