Campaign for Better Health Care
Bethany McNutt
1. Bethany exhibits wonderfully positive teamwork capabilities. During the year that I was her supervisor,
I witnessed her willingness contribute her all to further team success. She quickly became able to smoothly and
successfully move from interactions with her supervisor, to interactions with her peers, to interactions with her
subordinates. Bethany is adept at encouraging those she supervises and exudes a warmth which contributes to
the establishment of firm, positive supervisor/subordinate relationships.
Bethany’s delegation skills are both authoritative and encouraging. This combination allowed her to get the
best results from those she was supervising. She was responsible for leading and managing a health care
advocacy committee of very diverse individuals and while Bethany was younger in comparison to the average
age of the rest of the committee members, she still fostered respect and authority from this group.
2. Bethany is an excellent writer and worked diligently to improve the writing located on the
organizational website. She was given the opportunity to hone her editing skills when reviewing and revising
staff-generated publication materials. She also developed her oral communication skills while working with her
committee, and interacting with both staff and the public.
3. Bethany’s coursework and fluency in Spanish should be noted here. She continues to serve as an
important asset to her organization by providing both oral and written translation services.
Bethany has an extremely strong work ethic. I have no doubt that this strength will ensure her many successes
over the course of her work life. I have had the opportunity to observe a large number of employees over the
years and I was most impressed with Bethany’s sense of responsibility and accountability. Her dedication and
pride in her work were very evident in the work she produced.
When Bethany was offered the opportunity to move from the position of Public Education Coordinator to
Operations Manager she exhibited her wonderful flexibility, her large capacity for widening her job skills and
her innate business sense.
She is open-minded, yet is a critical thinker with good reasoning skills. She also has good intuition and reads
people well. This allows her to respond with the most appropriate reactions during her interactions with others.
4. I am confident that Bethany will continue to improve her oral communication skills with every
opportunity she encounters. This skill is not necessarily something that is inherent and given Bethany’s success
in other areas of her career, I fully expect her to hone this skill as well as she accumulates experience.
5. I am very confident that if given the opportunity to enroll in the MBA program with the University of
Illinois, she will be successful at completing the program. So many MBA classes require group projects and I
know that she will become a valued and productive member of any team she participates on. Upon graduating
from the program, I fully expect her to embark on a long and successful management career.
