Note: The Habits of Highly Successful College Students Checklist (handout) will be available in the pod to download.
Tip: enter your instructors’ contact names and info into your smartphone and/or planner
You may need to contact him/her when you don’t have access to wifi
Know how your course materials will be accessed
Grading Criteria and Scale– We will discuss how to determine your goal grade and give you a plan to calculate it
Understand that as a general rule, courses have individual grading scales; it’s important to understand the requirements of each course
Instructors have until the following Friday to post grades
Be sure to check them diligently and report any questions or concerns immediately
Too often, students wait until week 11 and contact instructors after grading deadlines
Always double (and triple) check that submissions were saved in drop boxes
Save all documents from MS Word, Excel, etc (your student work including discussion posts, and written assignments) to a secondary source
If you have an e-textbook, it’s likely you will have one of 2 formats: CourseSmart or Thuze. CourseSmart is a website based platform housing your e-textbooks from a variety of publishers. To easily understand how to access via laptop or ereader, we have awesome mini-webinar links to give you specific direction. These 5 minute videos will help you better access and navigate through CourseSmart. They can be found in our digital content hub.
If you have a Thuze-based e-textbook, it will be linked directly in your online course via PDF chapters. These chapters can be downloaded directly to your desktop for easier access.
Courses like English Composition have embedded content, which means your readings are easily accessible in your online class. Articles & sections of text will have a direct link in the assignments section of each module.
In your embedded content, you can easily change pages, zoom, or select chapters. PDFs can be downloaded to your desktop for reading offline.

If you find that you have not turned in assignments on time, understand the late grading policy (10% off per day)
Contact your instructor, ask if he/she will still accept late work
ALWAYS do current week’s work first!! THEN go back to fill anything late that can still earn points
