SIMILARITIES BETWEEN HIS FILMS
• Christopher Nolan is known for making a lot of thriller based movies. Almost all of
his movies are action, psychological or supernatural thrillers. Nolan uses music in his
movies to create suspense. The music in his films is nearly always composed by
Hans Zimmer who is a very famous composer and has made music for many films
some of those include Christopher Nolan's Inception, Batman trilogy and Man of
Steel. Besides that his movies tend to be very exciting and keep you interested at all
times and they also seem to be very unique dealing with concepts never done

Composer Hans Zimmer
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HIS MOVIES
• One key difference between his movies is the type of stories he Nolan tells. For
example in the batam trilogy each movie shows batman taking on a different form
of evil, for example in the dark knight it shows the joker who is more of a anarchist
and in batman begins you have Ra's Al Ghul a man who believes what he is doing is
for the better. Nolan's movies also contain different forms of morals. For example in
the batman trilogy it's about batman's code of not being afraid and protecting
Gotham and in interstellar it shows a man trying to cope not being with his family
while trying to find a way to save the people he cares about. Nolan's movies seem
to be designed to leave his viewers with some form of moral message to think
about.
CAMERAWORK
• Christopher Nolan's camera contains a lot of shots focused on the characters. You
often see a lot of close up shots which is most likely Nolan's way to letting focus on
the character and their emotions and their thoughts. For example in the dark knight
you see a lot of close up shots of the jokers face which makes you focus more on
the psychotic look of the character has made for himself. Another example is the
famous crying scene in interstellar in the camera is focused NASA pilot Cooper
(Matthew McConaughey) crying as he watches a video of his kids while he is in
space which showed the love the character has for his family.
SETTINGS
• Christopher Nolan's settings are very different depending on the movie. For
example the bat trilogy is all based in the crime consumed city of Gotham,
interstellar is mainly set in deep space and multiple planets and inception is based
inside of the characters heads a dream world. Despite his settings being so different
Nolan always makes sure to immerse his viewers into the world they are in. In the
Bat trilogy Nolan makes the viewers know that Gotham is filled with crime and that
it's a dark place, in inception Nolan makes the viewers aware that they are in dream
world by showing bizarre occurrences such as floods or bizarre physics. No matter
what Nolan makes sure that the view is aware of the world they are in.
