Foreword
In last year’s newsletter I said that 2011 had proved to be a challenging year.
Unfortunately I think 2012 has proven to be an equally challenging year. During this Olympic year, in London
and the South East of England, we have seen some buoyancy in the property market, having been
particularly busy extending and refurbishing properties. This perhaps is a sign of the lack of housing stock on
the market.
We have undertaken a number of notable projects which have gained planning permission. Construction has
commenced on a new house above Westcott in the Surrey Hills utilising a new system by Quadlock and a
new Arts and Crafts house in Abinger Common is approximately 60% complete.
I continue to feel that the strength of the practice has been the variety of projects that we work on and this is something we
continue to try to develop. We have once again been fortunate this year to have worked on such a diverse portfolio, working on
some stunning extensions to beautiful homes in lovely locations across the south east.
During the year planning applications have been submitted for a new indoor riding arena (Below) The Olympic torch relay paraded

in Normandy near Guildford, a new retail unit with residential accomodation over on the
Upper High Street in Guildford, exclusive housing in Kensington, London and up market
residential flats in Pentonville Road, London.
In 2011 we launched the new business Club Class Design, which in particular focuses on
the design of clubhouses for golf clubs and we have undertaken a number of feasibility
studies in the South East and a project will soon commence in the New Forest. Recently,
we have also become sponsors for Club Inc, which specialises in the golf market.
I believe that 2013 is going to be a cautious year again. However, I do believe that the
government policies seem to be endeavouring to move the property sector in the right
direction. Let’s hope that we begin to increase the housing stock and get businesses
firmly on the right track.

construction of a new 8,000 square foot luxury, contemporary

the year.
The house is designed with large areas of glass to take
account of the spectacular views to the south of the property
and is being constructed using a new innovative construction
method of ICF concrete formwork by Quadlock. Construction
is due for completion late summer of 2013.

2. Greys
Completed This year has also seen the substantial project at Greys
Glen Garden virtually completed. The works included the construction of a
new 7,500 square foot country house and the extension, full
refurbishment and remodeling of the 1930's coach house
building. The project also included significant areas of hard
landscaping including two new cobbled forecourts,
decorative terraces, paths and garden walling, all of which are
expected to be completed early in 2013. The works were
complex and involved two contractors on site, one to handle
the main house construction works with a second contractor
starting later to undertake the coach house works with the
external works.

Cheam Road
The flats at Cheam Road, Sutton are nearing completion,
which will allow the Maltese charity, Puttinu Cares Foundation,
to provide twelve flats for families visiting England whilst thier
children receive treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital. The
development is being completed to a very high standard and
will provide a homely environment whilst the families are
staying in this country.

Planning News
Inverness Terrace
A planning application has been submitted for a new, modern,
contemporary house in the centre of London to replace some
poorly constructed terrace houses. This new property in
Kensington will provide upmarket residential accommodation
in a single family residence. The decision is expected during
February 2013 and it is planned that construction will
commence shortly thereafter.
Indoor Riding Arena
We have recently submitted an application to Guildford Borough Council for the replacement of an indoor riding arena in
Normandy, Surrey. This will provide facilities for a national standard dressage and show jumping arena to complement the
existing stabling and cross country facilities of this equestrian centre.
