My Christmas Tradition
Christmas is meant for joy and laughter, not injuries and pain. Each year there are hundreds of
injuries that occur on the morning of December 25th. When the holiday approaches Americans love
to get into the Christmas spirit. Each family celebrates Christmas with their own traditions and
rituals that determine their holiday activities. I would have never thought that my family's traditions
for Christmas morning would help me shape my values.
As a child, my family would celebrate every holiday with grandeur, especially Christmas. We have
specific traditions and rituals that we carry out during the season, but the most important of our
traditions is what we do on Christmas morning. Our rituals and traditions reflect our values as well
as my own of family, unity, and tradition. The morning of the holiday mymother has always woken
my brother and I, and then brought us to our dad so we could all walk down to the family room.
As we gather in the family room around our tree and presents, my mom serves us each a piece of
her Christmas casserole, saved for this special morning. Following our video–taped walk down to
our presents, my brother, mother, father, and I open one gift from each other and the first thing in
our stocking. After this ritual, my brother and I would go downstairs to our in–law suite where our
grandmother lived, to wake up our Mimi and pull her upstairs so that we could finish opening
presents and have hot chocolate with our entire family. One Christmas morning

My Favorite Holiday Is Christmas Essay
I don't know about you, but my favorite holiday is Christmas; there's nothing better than waking up
on Christmas morning to see what presents your parents had gotten you. This was my favorite part
of Christmas and if you asked other kids they would say the same thing. Christmas was a time for
opening gifts and enjoying time with family. Luckily for me, I went to my grandma 's on my
mother's side. One year we go to my mother 's side and the following year we go to my father 's
side. Even though I love getting presents on Christmas, it is not the only great thing about the
holiday; spending time with your family, friends, and remembering Jesus Christ are important too.
On the morning of December 25th, 2010, I was a twelve–year old boy. Waking up on Christmas
morning was something I had been looking forward to for a few weeks. I was beyond excited to
see what presents I had gotten from my parents. There was nothing better than getting to see what
new toys I would have to play with. I woke up around 7 A.M. and ran into my parent's room to
wake them up so we could open our presents; while I was jumping for joy, they were half awake
and trying to get out of bed before I pulled them out myself. After they finally got out of bed we
went into the living room. This is where we have always opened presents on Christmas Day. In my
family, it has always been a tradition to open all of our gifts on Christmas morning. I sat on the
couch with my mom, my two dogs with us, and my dad sat in

As a kid I used to be super excited come Christmas time because Santa Clause delivers us presents
and eat the cookies that we leave him. I've had plenty of experiences but there is just a specific
memory I can recall that really made me change my mindset. Christmas is a wonderful holiday and
the happiest holiday in my opinion. I have always loved Christmas because I wake up to presents
that I've always wanted. I wake up to half eaten cookies that I used to believe was for Santa. That's
the same belief other kids have when they are younger but this one incident made the world spin
in my head. It not only made me think of the past but also what the future will hold for me come
every Christmas. It was the first of December and I woke up feeling Christmas spirit inside of me.
I got up and I did my regular morning routine which included brushing my teeth, take a shower,
and change into the clothes for the day. My mom had scrambled eggs and milk ready for me to eat
at the dinner table when I woke up. Let me tell you they were the best scrambled eggs I had ever
ate! Not sure if it was my mom's delicious taste for spices or if I was just hungry. I walked into my
room after finishing that delicious meal and decided I was going to do my Christmas card. I had
been looking forward to this forever and I was so happy that the time had come. I figured since I
was 12 years old at the time that I was going to get a lot of presents so I started writing down ideas
and crossing the wrong ones

Important Essay: Why Christmas Is Important?
Christmas
Why is Christmas such an important holiday? The importance of why people love this holiday
can come from their own point of view on it. For many people Christmas is to celebrate because
it's the birth of Jesus, for kids is a day to get presents from Santa clause .The importance of
Christmas to me is that I get to see my family all together. We have fun and talk and eat and get
together which is something we don't do during the rest of the year. My family gets together once a
year, on Christmas.
I care about Christmas because it's the only time of the year where my family is all together in
one place enjoying life. I have three sisters, two of them live with me and my parents here in
Odessa but the oldest one lives in Mexico. When I was in Mexico my dad was living here and

All the years we celebrated Christmas and new year's with our community, even though we saw
our dad only that week seeing him and celebrating Christmas with our whole family and our
neighbors made it a time to remember and a great memory to have in our hearts. Christmas here
is boring. Not in a bad and ugly way but I was used to seeing a lot of people and having fun with
family and friends and here its only us and even though I will always love Christmas it's not like we
do anything special on that day, other than spending the day with my whole family once a year.
But it is the birth of Jesus, why can't this be why I love Christmas. I am Christian and I know this
is the reasons why Christmas is an important holiday to this country and many around the world.
But it is not why I love Christmas the most, there are Christian kids around this country and the
only thing they care about is cool and fun toys under the tree. People love Christmas not for one
reason but for a special reason that fills their heart with happiness. Mine is seeing my family and all
the holiday spirit around my house and in my

A Commercialized Christmas Essay
One can almost cut through the irony of hearing Bing Crosby sing "It's beginning to look a lot like
Christmas" on the radio when the temperature is sixty and the first frost of winter is still weeks
away. As citizens of the United States in this day and age, people are most likely all too accustomed
with this typical rush promoted between important festivities. It's exclusively about generating
maximum revenue for the large corporations as frantic shoppers attempt to assuage their stress
through hour upon hour of incessant shopping; arising in our society today, an important question of
whether or not this avaricious behavior communicates total loss of understanding as to what the true
meaning of the season represents. In my opinion, some...show more content...
Within our culture, it seems to be of much more convenience to attend a Christmas Eve sale at
Macy's rather than the Christmas Eve vigil at a local church. Days such as BLACK Friday really do
give a good characterization to the way we as a whole have become. Next, one is unable to enjoy
the true spirit of the season – the togetherness, the contentment, and the unadulterated joy – when
the only thing singed into our minds is the need to prepare for the next quickly–approaching holiday.
Before you can even begin to think of the forthcoming celebration, all consumer–based retailers have
their shelves stocked high with goods pertaining to seasons months in the future. Sears, Kmart and
Home Depot were among the first wave of retailers to set up their holiday displays and
merchandise during the last week of September ("Kmart, Sears, and Home Depot"). It seems that,
at this point every year, Halloween and Thanksgiving are to be forgotten, shipped away to the land
of misfit rationalizations; the biggest moneymaker of them all is the only thing that retail stores
want you to remember. It's impossible to see the beauty of the multitude of colors painted across the
leaves of changing trees, to watch the snow gently blanket the cold, hard, winter ground, or to enjoy
the company of several generations of loved ones gathered in close proximity when the

The Day Of The Joy Of Christmas Essay
Hey there!
Merry Christmas! I hope that you are all able to spend time with your loved ones during these
upcoming days. Part of the joy of Christmas is spending time with those we love. While we
celebrate with our friends and family, it's the perfect time to remember all of the things God has
blessed us with. Family. Loved ones. Clean Water. Food. Shelter. Safetly. Internet (WiFi, amirite?
в є ). As well as many other things. Most importantly, we should remember the incredible LOVE
God has for us. (Jeremiah 29:11, for reference)
Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
"What, then, does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart." – that is, the word
about trust which we proclaim, namely, that if you acknowledge publicly with your mouth that
Yeshua is Lord and trust in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
delivered...That means that there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – Adonai is the same for
everyone, rich toward everyone who calls on him, since everyone who calls on the name of Adonai
will be delivered."
Romans (Rom) 10:8‖‬9вЂ, ‬12‖‬13 CJB ‬‬‬
If you're unfamiliar with this information, here's the short version:
Because of His incredible love for us, God sent his only Son so we can have the gift of eternal life.
Jesus willingly gave His life for us on the cross and was brought back to life by God three days later
so that when we call on Him – trusting and believing in who He is, what

The True Reason to Celebrate Christmas Essay
Christmas has become too commercialized in America. The true purpose of the holiday has been
lost; people no longer care Christmas has also been changed to fit secular viewpoints. Enormous
amounts of money are spent on gifts and decorations. People have lost sight of the reason we
celebrate this winter holiday. Christmas originally was a time to observe the birth of Christ. People
from all over would attend Christmas services, certain aspects of the holiday, such as the tree or
Christmas colors, would be symbols, and people actually dared to say "Merry Christmas" to their
neighbors. The word "holiday" actually came from "holy day," which declared certain days like
saints' feasts and Christmas to be dedicated to God. Now, Christmas...show more content...
Letters are sent off to the North Pole, lists are made, and money flies everywhere to find the best
presents. The gift from God has been replaced by gifts from the big man in the red suit.
Americans spend more money during the winter holiday than any other time of the year. With
every passing year, that amount increases. In fact, statistics show that Black Friday retail sales
totaled to $52 billion in 2011 and $60 billion in 2012; the average parent will spend up to $500
per child, if not more; decoration and lights sales have totaled to $6 billion. ABC Family has
recently started airing a reality series titled The Great Christmas Light Fight; families all over the
country compete to see who can set up the biggest display. In a survey, children were asked what
Christ as meant to them; in reference to how Christmas is viewed today, one child said, "It's all
about how many hours you can spend in a store and how much money you can spend."(Heather)The
true reason for Christmas, Jesus, is lost amid the bright lights, bustling feet, and presents. Christmas,
a time for remembering what God has given us, is now a time to receive things other people bought
for us. It is sadly a time when secularism and political correctness overthrows Christianity. This leads
to that little baby being forgotten in the manger instead of praised and loved. Emphasis is instead put

My Christmas Experience
Christmas at my grandparent's home was one of the best experiences, my extended family, exposed
to me. My extended family consisted of my grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and neighbors
(Seccombe, 2012). The house was lit up with lights and the Christmas tree was in the corner over the
room with the Lionel train set underneath. The day would start early on Christmas eve, Id help my
grandmother prepare the food for the dinner to come. I would peel the potatoes as she prepared
the mushroom soup. I breaded the smelts as my grandfather deboned them. Perogies' and onions
cooked on the coal stove above the fire; as the ham and kielbasa baked in the oven. The aroma of
food consumed her home, I can still smell it today. My family fasted on Christmas eve, so the meat
couldn't be eaten until midnight.
As the meal cooked, we would get dressed in our Christmas attire. I wore a sweater that I received
from my Aunt the previous year. It was ugly and I didn't like it, but mom made me wear it. Our
extended family showed up one by one, until there was no room left in the kitchen. They piled
downstairs and sat where they could, the table, steps, or the cot under the window. My grandfather,
the patriarch, sat at the head of the table in his usual spot (Seccombe, 2012). After dinner, I always
got stuck washing the dishes, I was the oldest of the cousin.
Later, Gram played the organ as everyone gathered in the living room to sing Christmas songs. My
grandfather sat in his chair, by the

My Favorite Christmas Essay
My Favorite Christmas When I look back and think about Christmas, one specific Christmas stands
out. It was the Christmas when I was 8 years old. That was the year I discovered the true joy of
Christmas. Before that Christmas, I thought Christmas was just about waking up, opening presents
and having a big family dinner. Here is the story of my 9th Christmas... To begin with, the season
started out like all the others, making a Christmas list, writing a letter to Santa, and making sure I
would not be on the naughty list. First, I sat down with my paper and pencil and began writing a
detailed, specific list of all the things I wanted. The list included a new Barbie doll, art supplies,
the beautiful pink sweater I saw in a department store window, just to name a few items. Now that
I had my list, I wrote my letter to Santa to make sure he knew what I wanted. Dear Santa, it began,
followed by a list of the items I wanted the most and concluding with highlights explaining how
good I had been all year and really deserve to get the items listed, just to make sure Santa knew I
was on the nice list. Next, just to make sure there wasn't any question that I belonged on the nice
and not the naughty list I began doing extra chores. Mom always liked it when I helped her set
the table. Dad could always use an extra had washing the car. I even helped my little brother pick
up his toys in his room, without even being asked! Then it happened, something that changed my
attitude towards Christmas. It was the last day of school before winter break. Our last
assignment of the day was simple, make a wish for the holiday season and present it to the class.
My wish was simple, that Santa brings me everything on my Christmas list. My list wish was
very similar to most of my classmates. Next, it was Emma's turn. I didn't really know Emma even
though she had been in my class all year. She seemed different from my friends. Her clothes
always looked old and worn. She was quiet, not very friendly. Although she was always invited to
birthday parties, she never joined in. I never really paid much attention to her, just avoided her
because she was different. As Emma shyly made her way to the front of the class I

Me and my older cousins drag the box outside onto the front porch. As I begin to open the box my

we were numb from head to toe, but it was worth every moment. It was the most beautiful
basketball hoop I ever seen. It was candy apple red and the backboard had lights on it just in case I
wanted to play in the dark. I thought Santa Claus gave me the coolest gift in the world. Later on
in the evening I use to enjoy sitting in our cozy living room while, the fireplace was burning
sipping on hot cocca and scoff down ginger bread cookies we made the night before. My family
was always exchanging jokes. My brother Tito and my sister Titania love joking around, but my
brother was a lot funnier than my sister. He was the jokester in the family. I remember this one
particular joke my brother said about my aunt. He said she had a temptation hair style. I was

A Christmas: A Short Story
The joy of Christmas is a wonderful thing. It makes you go insane with happiness. You see, things
happen during the holidays. And when you look back and remember the things you did, you become
giddy and embarrassed. One such thing happened to me, when I was twenty–three. I was roaming
the streets, looking for shops that might hold gifts that my family would like. As I walked, I had
my head buried in the shop windows, so I wasn't looking where I was going. I walked right into
someone, causing them to spill the contents in their arms. I turned, "I'm so sorry," I apologized,
"Here let me help you." I scampered around the sidewalk, collecting the man's things. As I handed
him his things, our eyes met and we shared a moment of specialness. I quickly looked away and
glanced towards the sky. To my surprise, mistletoe hung on a thin line dangling in the air. I
blushed as the man spotted what I was looking at. "I'm Thomas," he stuck out his hand to shake,
"I feel we must have a proper introduction before we, you know, go about the tradition." I shook his
hand and introduced myself, "I'm Victoria." We stared at each other awkwardly for a few
moments, waiting for the other person to make the first move. Finally, I turned, "Farewell, Thomas.
I'll see you around," I called over my shoulder as I walked away. Our fates must have been
intertwined, or he was following me, because it wasn't but three days later, on the same street, that
we ran into each other

The Commercialization of Christmas Essay
The Commercialization of Christmas
Over the years, one topic which has sparked an interesting debate among intellectuals, business men
and Christians is whether or not Christmas has enrolled into an over commercialized holiday. The
period at the climax of the year, December 25th, which we celebrate as Christmas is the time when
consumers increase their spending to an outrageous level and business persons become elated as their
shelves become depleted of the products that assist in our celebrations.
The Oxford Study Dictionary describes the term commercialize as 'to make commercial or to alter
in order to make profitable'. In light of this definition, I certainly believe that it has become too

Those gifts, which we offer as tokens are representative of the gifts, were brought be the Three
Wise Men for Jesus on his day of birth.
Commercialization, however, escalates because the fruits of our own labour do not make many of
the gifts that are traded. It is substantially more convenient to stroll into any department store or
corner shop and purchase a gift which one deems as appropriate for the occasion. This convenience
has allowed the opportunistic business 'sharks' of the world to exploit such an opportunity and
diminish the importance of one of Christianity's most significant holidays. Commercialization is
therefore the outcome of this exploitation and its increase is becoming more and more evident.
Christmas then suffers as business flourish. The actual reason for this holiday becomes so immersed
under the commercial blanket, that persons not only forget the true reason behind Christmas but the
businessmen structure their entire operations around the influx in sales during the Christmas period.
The effect this has on the society cannot be ignored. Businesses slash prices in order to attract their
customers and the increase in sales is so high during this period that profits surpass any of those
made during the previous periods of the same year. Over–working becomes the direct effect of this
over commercialization. Persons have to support their families and

The Definition of Christmas Essay
The sole definition of Christmas at one time was, an annual church festival in memory of the birth
of Christ. Now when the word Christmas is mentioned people think about lights, trees, presents,
food, friends and family, along with the birth of Christ. Some view these added meanings as a good
change and some view them as a bad change. In today’s world Christmas is not defined
only as celebrating the birth of Christ but also the celebration of giving, and the celebration of family

they would go to morning mass. In the afternoon the family would celebrate Christmas together and

Today Christmas is different. Christmas Eve family goes out to a friend’s Christmas

I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special
atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you
can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell
you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family
preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes. When I think of Christmas the first
thing that pops into my mind is the delicious Chocolate Cake that only my grandma knows how to

Christmas : The True Meaning Of Christmas
Catholics celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ; the rejoicing in the birth of our savior, and
His influence on our lives today. It can also be a time of healing and renewed strength. While
looking back and celebrating the birth of Christ, it should also be a time of looking ahead in
preparation when He will come again. Many people lose sight of this aspect and get entwined in
the material trappings of the holidays. They forget there is a spiritual meaning that does not require
boxes and bows, but rather service and love. In our family, this is significant to our religious beliefs
and what my parents hold sacred. The true meaning of Christmas is unconditional love for and
service to others. Three words come to mind when I think about the Christmas season: faith, hope
and love. The faith that there is a divine power who watches over us each and every day. The hope
of a better day today and a greater tomorrow still to come. The love of family and warm friends
preparing a holiday meal and breaking bread with one another. These three emotions are the reasons
this particular time of year fills my heart with such excitement. A hope for a sense of awakening
religious traditions and the spiritual realization of the genuine meaning of Christmas. As you grow
up, you realize getting presents is not the most important aspect of Christmas. Many people cherish
when their family gets together to celebrate. Other may just enjoy going sledding and drinking hot
cocoa. It

Families and friends gradually emerge from clogged buses and congested trains, tired, exhausted

smiles. (Metaphor) Everyone already dug into the food, and even though I already ate, it was
calling my name. (personification) I proceeded to enjoy another Christmas dinner, but the night
was slipping away fast. We had to open presents as fast as lightning.(simile) One of my presents
was a beautiful santa ornament that glistened in the light. The smile on my face was a sight to be
seen.(metaphor) By far, this Christmas was already the best I have ever had. As my mom and I
said our goodbyes, my heart dropped to my stomach knowing Christmas Eve was over, but there
was still Christmas Day. The drive home was wonderful with Christmas lights shining as bright
as day.(smilie) Arriving home at 1 a.m. was truly torture.(metaphor) This is because making the
choice to either go to bed or stay awake until morning is the hardest decision of all time. I thought
it was a good idea to take a little nap. I curled up in bed a closed my eyes. There was a million things
going through my head,(hyperbole) making it hard to fall asleep. Soon my mind became blank.
Opening my eyes that morning was a piece of cake! I jumped out of bed and ran down stairs to
make breakfast.

Christmas Essay

  • 1. My Christmas Tradition Christmas is meant for joy and laughter, not injuries and pain. Each year there are hundreds of injuries that occur on the morning of December 25th. When the holiday approaches Americans love to get into the Christmas spirit. Each family celebrates Christmas with their own traditions and rituals that determine their holiday activities. I would have never thought that my family's traditions for Christmas morning would help me shape my values. As a child, my family would celebrate every holiday with grandeur, especially Christmas. We have specific traditions and rituals that we carry out during the season, but the most important of our traditions is what we do on Christmas morning. Our rituals and traditions reflect our values as well as my own of family, unity, and tradition. The morning of the holiday mymother has always woken my brother and I, and then brought us to our dad so we could all walk down to the family room. As we gather in the family room around our tree and presents, my mom serves us each a piece of her Christmas casserole, saved for this special morning. Following our video–taped walk down to our presents, my brother, mother, father, and I open one gift from each other and the first thing in our stocking. After this ritual, my brother and I would go downstairs to our in–law suite where our grandmother lived, to wake up our Mimi and pull her upstairs so that we could finish opening presents and have hot chocolate with our entire family. • 2. My Favorite Holiday Is Christmas Essay I don't know about you, but my favorite holiday is Christmas; there's nothing better than waking up on Christmas morning to see what presents your parents had gotten you. This was my favorite part of Christmas and if you asked other kids they would say the same thing. Christmas was a time for opening gifts and enjoying time with family. Luckily for me, I went to my grandma 's on my mother's side. One year we go to my mother 's side and the following year we go to my father 's side. Even though I love getting presents on Christmas, it is not the only great thing about the holiday; spending time with your family, friends, and remembering Jesus Christ are important too. On the morning of December 25th, 2010, I was a twelve–year old boy. Waking up on Christmas morning was something I had been looking forward to for a few weeks. I was beyond excited to see what presents I had gotten from my parents. There was nothing better than getting to see what new toys I would have to play with. I woke up around 7 A.M. and ran into my parent's room to wake them up so we could open our presents; while I was jumping for joy, they were half awake and trying to get out of bed before I pulled them out myself. After they finally got out of bed we went into the living room. This is where we have always opened presents on Christmas Day. In my family, it has always been a tradition to open all of our gifts on Christmas morning. I sat on the couch with my mom, my two dogs with us, and my dad sat in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. As a kid I used to be super excited come Christmas time because Santa Clause delivers us presents and eat the cookies that we leave him. I've had plenty of experiences but there is just a specific memory I can recall that really made me change my mindset. Christmas is a wonderful holiday and the happiest holiday in my opinion. I have always loved Christmas because I wake up to presents that I've always wanted. I wake up to half eaten cookies that I used to believe was for Santa. That's the same belief other kids have when they are younger but this one incident made the world spin in my head. It not only made me think of the past but also what the future will hold for me come every Christmas. It was the first of December and I woke up feeling Christmas spirit inside of me. I got up and I did my regular morning routine which included brushing my teeth, take a shower, and change into the clothes for the day. My mom had scrambled eggs and milk ready for me to eat at the dinner table when I woke up. Let me tell you they were the best scrambled eggs I had ever ate! Not sure if it was my mom's delicious taste for spices or if I was just hungry. I walked into my room after finishing that delicious meal and decided I was going to do my Christmas card. I had been looking forward to this forever and I was so happy that the time had come. I figured since I was 12 years old at the time that I was going to get a lot of presents so I started writing down ideas and crossing the wrong ones Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Important Essay: Why Christmas Is Important? Christmas Why is Christmas such an important holiday? The importance of why people love this holiday can come from their own point of view on it. For many people Christmas is to celebrate because it's the birth of Jesus, for kids is a day to get presents from Santa clause .The importance of Christmas to me is that I get to see my family all together. We have fun and talk and eat and get together which is something we don't do during the rest of the year. My family gets together once a year, on Christmas. I care about Christmas because it's the only time of the year where my family is all together in one place enjoying life. I have three sisters, two of them live with me and my parents here in Odessa but the oldest one lives in Mexico. When I was in Mexico my dad was living here and sometimes was...show more content... All the years we celebrated Christmas and new year's with our community, even though we saw our dad only that week seeing him and celebrating Christmas with our whole family and our neighbors made it a time to remember and a great memory to have in our hearts. Christmas here is boring. Not in a bad and ugly way but I was used to seeing a lot of people and having fun with family and friends and here its only us and even though I will always love Christmas it's not like we do anything special on that day, other than spending the day with my whole family once a year. But it is the birth of Jesus, why can't this be why I love Christmas. I am Christian and I know this is the reasons why Christmas is an important holiday to this country and many around the world. But it is not why I love Christmas the most, there are Christian kids around this country and the only thing they care about is cool and fun toys under the tree. People love Christmas not for one reason but for a special reason that fills their heart with happiness. Mine is seeing my family and all the holiday spirit around my house and in my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. A Commercialized Christmas Essay One can almost cut through the irony of hearing Bing Crosby sing "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" on the radio when the temperature is sixty and the first frost of winter is still weeks away. As citizens of the United States in this day and age, people are most likely all too accustomed with this typical rush promoted between important festivities. It's exclusively about generating maximum revenue for the large corporations as frantic shoppers attempt to assuage their stress through hour upon hour of incessant shopping; arising in our society today, an important question of whether or not this avaricious behavior communicates total loss of understanding as to what the true meaning of the season represents. In my opinion, some...show more content... Within our culture, it seems to be of much more convenience to attend a Christmas Eve sale at Macy's rather than the Christmas Eve vigil at a local church. Days such as BLACK Friday really do give a good characterization to the way we as a whole have become. Next, one is unable to enjoy the true spirit of the season – the togetherness, the contentment, and the unadulterated joy – when the only thing singed into our minds is the need to prepare for the next quickly–approaching holiday. Before you can even begin to think of the forthcoming celebration, all consumer–based retailers have their shelves stocked high with goods pertaining to seasons months in the future. Sears, Kmart and Home Depot were among the first wave of retailers to set up their holiday displays and merchandise during the last week of September ("Kmart, Sears, and Home Depot"). It seems that, at this point every year, Halloween and Thanksgiving are to be forgotten, shipped away to the land of misfit rationalizations; the biggest moneymaker of them all is the only thing that retail stores want you to remember. It's impossible to see the beauty of the multitude of colors painted across the leaves of changing trees, to watch the snow gently blanket the cold, hard, winter ground, or to enjoy the company of several generations of loved ones gathered in close proximity when the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The Day Of The Joy Of Christmas Essay Hey there! Merry Christmas! I hope that you are all able to spend time with your loved ones during these upcoming days. Part of the joy of Christmas is spending time with those we love. While we celebrate with our friends and family, it's the perfect time to remember all of the things God has blessed us with. Family. Loved ones. Clean Water. Food. Shelter. Safetly. Internet (WiFi, amirite? в є ). As well as many other things. Most importantly, we should remember the incredible LOVE God has for us. (Jeremiah 29:11, for reference) Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. "What, then, does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart." – that is, the word about trust which we proclaim, namely, that if you acknowledge publicly with your mouth that Yeshua is Lord and trust in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be delivered...That means that there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – Adonai is the same for everyone, rich toward everyone who calls on him, since everyone who calls on the name of Adonai will be delivered." Romans (Rom) 10:8‖‬9вЂ, ‬12‖‬13 CJB ‬‬‬ If you're unfamiliar with this information, here's the short version: Because of His incredible love for us, God sent his only Son so we can have the gift of eternal life. Jesus willingly gave His life for us on the cross and was brought back to life by God three days later so that when we call on Him – trusting and believing in who He is, what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The True Reason to Celebrate Christmas Essay Christmas has become too commercialized in America. The true purpose of the holiday has been lost; people no longer care Christmas has also been changed to fit secular viewpoints. Enormous amounts of money are spent on gifts and decorations. People have lost sight of the reason we celebrate this winter holiday. Christmas originally was a time to observe the birth of Christ. People from all over would attend Christmas services, certain aspects of the holiday, such as the tree or Christmas colors, would be symbols, and people actually dared to say "Merry Christmas" to their neighbors. The word "holiday" actually came from "holy day," which declared certain days like saints' feasts and Christmas to be dedicated to God. Now, Christmas...show more content... Letters are sent off to the North Pole, lists are made, and money flies everywhere to find the best presents. The gift from God has been replaced by gifts from the big man in the red suit. Americans spend more money during the winter holiday than any other time of the year. With every passing year, that amount increases. In fact, statistics show that Black Friday retail sales totaled to $52 billion in 2011 and $60 billion in 2012; the average parent will spend up to $500 per child, if not more; decoration and lights sales have totaled to $6 billion. ABC Family has recently started airing a reality series titled The Great Christmas Light Fight; families all over the country compete to see who can set up the biggest display. In a survey, children were asked what Christ as meant to them; in reference to how Christmas is viewed today, one child said, "It's all about how many hours you can spend in a store and how much money you can spend."(Heather)The true reason for Christmas, Jesus, is lost amid the bright lights, bustling feet, and presents. Christmas, a time for remembering what God has given us, is now a time to receive things other people bought for us. It is sadly a time when secularism and political correctness overthrows Christianity. This leads to that little baby being forgotten in the manger instead of praised and loved. Emphasis is instead put on things like Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Christmas Experience Christmas at my grandparent's home was one of the best experiences, my extended family, exposed to me. My extended family consisted of my grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and neighbors (Seccombe, 2012). The house was lit up with lights and the Christmas tree was in the corner over the room with the Lionel train set underneath. The day would start early on Christmas eve, Id help my grandmother prepare the food for the dinner to come. I would peel the potatoes as she prepared the mushroom soup. I breaded the smelts as my grandfather deboned them. Perogies' and onions cooked on the coal stove above the fire; as the ham and kielbasa baked in the oven. The aroma of food consumed her home, I can still smell it today. My family fasted on Christmas eve, so the meat couldn't be eaten until midnight. As the meal cooked, we would get dressed in our Christmas attire. I wore a sweater that I received from my Aunt the previous year. It was ugly and I didn't like it, but mom made me wear it. Our extended family showed up one by one, until there was no room left in the kitchen. They piled downstairs and sat where they could, the table, steps, or the cot under the window. My grandfather, the patriarch, sat at the head of the table in his usual spot (Seccombe, 2012). After dinner, I always got stuck washing the dishes, I was the oldest of the cousin. Later, Gram played the organ as everyone gathered in the living room to sing Christmas songs. My grandfather sat in his chair, by the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Favorite Christmas Essay My Favorite Christmas When I look back and think about Christmas, one specific Christmas stands out. It was the Christmas when I was 8 years old. That was the year I discovered the true joy of Christmas. Before that Christmas, I thought Christmas was just about waking up, opening presents and having a big family dinner. Here is the story of my 9th Christmas... To begin with, the season started out like all the others, making a Christmas list, writing a letter to Santa, and making sure I would not be on the naughty list. First, I sat down with my paper and pencil and began writing a detailed, specific list of all the things I wanted. The list included a new Barbie doll, art supplies, the beautiful pink sweater I saw in a department store window, just to name a few items. Now that I had my list, I wrote my letter to Santa to make sure he knew what I wanted. Dear Santa, it began, followed by a list of the items I wanted the most and concluding with highlights explaining how good I had been all year and really deserve to get the items listed, just to make sure Santa knew I was on the nice list. Next, just to make sure there wasn't any question that I belonged on the nice and not the naughty list I began doing extra chores. Mom always liked it when I helped her set the table. Dad could always use an extra had washing the car. I even helped my little brother pick up his toys in his room, without even being asked! Then it happened, something that changed my attitude towards Christmas. It was the last day of school before winter break. Our last assignment of the day was simple, make a wish for the holiday season and present it to the class. My wish was simple, that Santa brings me everything on my Christmas list. My list wish was very similar to most of my classmates. Next, it was Emma's turn. I didn't really know Emma even though she had been in my class all year. She seemed different from my friends. Her clothes always looked old and worn. She was quiet, not very friendly. Although she was always invited to birthday parties, she never joined in. I never really paid much attention to her, just avoided her because she was different. As Emma shyly made her way to the front of the class I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When you are a child you most likely would think about it as Santa. As you get older you realize the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is also a time of decoration. The trees are trimmed with tinsel, treasures, and toys. Wreaths, mistletoe, poinsettias, and stockings cover houses. Lights wink and snowflakes dance. The fire roars like a lion. • 11. Descriptive Essay About Christmas r 2017 "My favorite holiday" Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. I love seeing the shinny Christmas lights that decorates my street and the sound of fresh fallen snow on the ground. Christmas reminds me of family, the laughter and loved we shared, and the gifts we gave to each other. My house on Christmas became the center of my joy. I remember waking up on Christmas day with a huge smile on my face, heart full of joy, and my stomach barking. I can smell all the spices cooking down stairs. As soon as I got out of bed I will rushed down the steps into the kitchen to see what my mom had prepare for us on this special day. As I begin to open the box my hands started trembling. I couldn't tell if my hands were shaking from the excitement or because it was five degrees outside. It took us two hours to put the hoop together. Our lips felt like icicles we were numb from head to toe, but it was worth every moment. It was the most beautiful basketball hoop I ever seen. It was candy apple red and the backboard had lights on it just in case I wanted to play in the dark. I thought Santa Claus gave me the coolest gift in the world. Later on in the evening I use to enjoy sitting in our cozy living room while, the fireplace was burning sipping on hot cocca and scoff down ginger bread cookies we made the night before. My family was always exchanging jokes. My brother Tito and my sister Titania love joking around, but my brother was a lot funnier than my sister. He was the jokester in the family. I remember this one particular joke my brother said about my aunt. He said she had a temptation hair style. I was hollering it was so funny because when you looked at her hair it did remind you of the singer group the Temptation. You would of thought she was a member of the group. I was laughing so hard tears were running down my face and I urinated a little on myself . My brother always made holidays so much fun. • 12. A Christmas: A Short Story The joy of Christmas is a wonderful thing. It makes you go insane with happiness. You see, things happen during the holidays. And when you look back and remember the things you did, you become giddy and embarrassed. One such thing happened to me, when I was twenty–three. I was roaming the streets, looking for shops that might hold gifts that my family would like. As I walked, I had my head buried in the shop windows, so I wasn't looking where I was going. I walked right into someone, causing them to spill the contents in their arms. I turned, "I'm so sorry," I apologized, "Here let me help you." I scampered around the sidewalk, collecting the man's things. As I handed him his things, our eyes met and we shared a moment of specialness. I quickly looked away and glanced towards the sky. To my surprise, mistletoe hung on a thin line dangling in the air. I blushed as the man spotted what I was looking at. "I'm Thomas," he stuck out his hand to shake, "I feel we must have a proper introduction before we, you know, go about the tradition." I shook his hand and introduced myself, "I'm Victoria." We stared at each other awkwardly for a few moments, waiting for the other person to make the first move. Finally, I turned, "Farewell, Thomas. I'll see you around," I called over my shoulder as I walked away. Our fates must have been intertwined, or he was following me, because it wasn't but three days later, on the same street, that we ran into each other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. The Commercialization of Christmas Essay The Commercialization of Christmas Over the years, one topic which has sparked an interesting debate among intellectuals, business men and Christians is whether or not Christmas has enrolled into an over commercialized holiday. The period at the climax of the year, December 25th, which we celebrate as Christmas is the time when consumers increase their spending to an outrageous level and business persons become elated as their shelves become depleted of the products that assist in our celebrations. The Oxford Study Dictionary describes the term commercialize as 'to make commercial or to alter in order to make profitable'. Commercialization, however, escalates because the fruits of our own labour do not make many of the gifts that are traded. It is substantially more convenient to stroll into any department store or corner shop and purchase a gift which one deems as appropriate for the occasion. This convenience has allowed the opportunistic business 'sharks' of the world to exploit such an opportunity and diminish the importance of one of Christianity's most significant holidays. Commercialization is therefore the outcome of this exploitation and its increase is becoming more and more evident. Christmas then suffers as business flourish. The actual reason for this holiday becomes so immersed under the commercial blanket, that persons not only forget the true reason behind Christmas but the businessmen structure their entire operations around the influx in sales during the Christmas period. The effect this has on the society cannot be ignored. Businesses slash prices in order to attract their customers and the increase in sales is so high during this period that profits surpass any of those made during the previous periods of the same year. Over–working becomes the direct effect of this over commercialization. Persons have to support their families and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. How many times have we heard this phrase and yet a lot of people don't know the actual meaning to it. For me the meaning of Christmas is the value of family time and the all the delicious food that this lovely season makes us cook. In this lovely season, we cook the famous tamales. This is by far my favorite dish, but it is also the most difficult dish to make. There are three portions to make tamales get all the ingredients needed to cook, organize the items and the best part fold everything. Once the meat and the chicken is done, get the chicken out and place it into another medium bowl. Do the same thing to the pork meat. Save the water from the chicken and the meat because you will need this for your dough. Get the plantain leaves out of the water, put them on the table to cool off and cut them in small pieces, small enough to fit sideways on the aluminum foil pieces you cut earlier. Now, open the bag of flour and pour t into a big pot and add about half of a litter of water. Stir the mixture until there is not ball inside, this needs to be done at the kitchen sink not on the stove. Once you finish mixing place the pot on the stove with low temperature. Add the sauce you made from tomatoes, the water from the chicken and the water from the meat and place them into the dough mixture. Mix everything together and keep mixing until the dough turns very smooth. This mixing dough portion will take about 30– 45 mins. Make sure not to leave the dough without mixing because if you do the dough is going to burn. Take the dough pot and place it on the dinning table. The third portion of making my favorite dish is folding. Now that everything is cooked and placed on the table get ready to fold and fold Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Personal Narrative I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes. When I think of Christmas the first thing that pops into my mind is the delicious Chocolate Cake that only my grandma knows how to prepare. Perhaps this is the reason why, every year, my family and me try to spend our holiday at our grandma's place. So, every year, we all step into the car and...show more content... Finally, it is over . We each take a huge breath as we step out into the crispy snow that snaps under our boots. I make my way to the front door, illuminated by the red, green, and blue Christmas lights. As I open the door and step into a house full of cheek pinches and hugs, an array of Christmas smells welcomes me and makes my mouth water. As my family and I are quickly made comfortable, I look around... All the house is full of Christmas decorations, and the carols are heard all over the house. My cousins are running, playing , and laughing. I hear a voice saying: " Why don't you give me a hug?", I turn to my left and see my grandma standing there with a magical smile painted gracefully all over her face. I reach out and give her a hug. Then we both sit down and talk about the incredibly long journey to her house. After a few minutes we are announced that the dinner is served. Everyone takes a seat at the large oak table, waiting anxious for the delicious dishes to be brought. But, what I think that everyone is really waiting for is the delightful desert. No one can picture the Christmas table without the delicious Christmas Chocolate Cake, which is brought by my grandma herself. Everything is so magical that you don't even dare to breathe. After that , everyone comes into the living room and takes a seat on the sofa. I can't stop noticing all the excitement found on my cousins' Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Christmas : The True Meaning Of Christmas Catholics celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ; the rejoicing in the birth of our savior, and His influence on our lives today. It can also be a time of healing and renewed strength. While looking back and celebrating the birth of Christ, it should also be a time of looking ahead in preparation when He will come again. Many people lose sight of this aspect and get entwined in the material trappings of the holidays. They forget there is a spiritual meaning that does not require boxes and bows, but rather service and love. In our family, this is significant to our religious beliefs and what my parents hold sacred. The true meaning of Christmas is unconditional love for and service to others. Three words come to mind when I think about the Christmas season: faith, hope and love. The faith that there is a divine power who watches over us each and every day. The hope of a better day today and a greater tomorrow still to come. The love of family and warm friends preparing a holiday meal and breaking bread with one another. These three emotions are the reasons this particular time of year fills my heart with such excitement. A hope for a sense of awakening religious traditions and the spiritual realization of the genuine meaning of Christmas. As you grow up, you realize getting presents is not the most important aspect of Christmas. Many people cherish when their family gets together to celebrate. Other may just enjoy going sledding and drinking hot cocoa. It Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Christmas Essay example A few days before Christmas, Oxford street is swarming with last minute shoppers, laden with parcels and bags. Christmas is the highlight for many people, especially little childen, from as tall as your ankle to as tall as your knee. Small todlers were moaning and disappearing into the clothes racks like magicians disappearing in a puff of smoke entertaining the gullible audiences. Families and friends gradually emerge from clogged buses and congested trains, tired, exhausted and hungry even at this very early stage, as if they had spent the whole night awake, like a distressed parent waiting for their child to arrive home from a party but has still not arrived, two hours past their curfew....show more content... The street is coated with a thick layer of snow, knee length, which was as soft, and as smooth as a fresh scoop of vanilla ice–cream. The snow was as white as the marzipan on a wedding cake, smooth as glass, flat as a pancake and beautiful as the wings of a butterfly opening for its first time. Along the street, above the distressed shoppers, was a sea of decorations, of all colours, simultaneously changing, on and off, to the rhythm of my feet, whilst ambling through the streets of Oxford. The Christmas lights were shaped in all kinds of shape you could possibly imagine and they were so bright that the twinkle in the lights glistened on the icing floor as though it was a star. It also shimmered on the shoes, which men were wearing. The combination of the snow and the Christmas lights makes me feel as though I was entering another world full of amusement, ecstasy and anticipation as Christmas draws in. The atmosphere is pleasant, though everybody seems to be distressed and having problems on their minds, as though they were carrying the weight of the whole, entire world on the shoulders. The shops are warm and snug after coming in from the cold outside. The feeling of a holiday coming up puts individuals in a ebullient, friendly, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
