Choosing Photographs

I have chosen this picture I took at the
Keystones in York as one of the features in
my magazine as I feel that it is a good shot of
the lead singer of the band. The way that the
singer is focused on his guitar gazing down
upon it gives the idea to the audience that
he is passionate about his music and can
relate to people that would read the
magazine. It is a central shot so we are on his
level and have a full view of his guitar and
the gig atmosphere behind him. This would
be a good image to feature as a main photo
on the cover. Adjusting the contrast and
exposure with a grey overlay on Photoshop
would make the picture more unique and
eye-catching on the cover of the issue.

This shot I feel would be
           suitable for use within the
contents page of my issue as I
feel that is shows the band
           getting really into their music.
As all their focus is on their
           instruments it shows passion for
the music they are creating. The
           way that they are stood
           together in the shot also
           communicates that they have a
           sense of togetherness and are
           tight as a band.

This is one of my stronger
images that I would use in
            my double page spread of
the band. The way that the
band are all stood in the
            same way and are almost
            symmetrical in how they
            play their instruments at
this time. I would edit this
            overlay on the image to
portray it is an older better
            quality picture and
            different from other that
            may feature within other
            magazines.

I like this image as it shows
the full set of the gig.
            Although I would adjust the
exposure to a higher level as
it is not a clear enough
            picture to feature in the
            magazine as it is. Increasing
            the exposure would make
            the picture clearer and
cropping it to show only the
            band and the floor lighting
            would improve the look of
            the composition shown.

This image taken of the lead singer of the
band King No-One is in portrait so could
be used as the main image when edited to
more suitable. I would crop this shot to a
medium shot so I could focus more on the
facial expression of the singer and his
instrument. I would adjust the saturation
to lower in the image so that the writing
on the main cover would be more
      noticeable.

Using a running mode on my
         camera the lights streamed along
the image that I had taken. I like
this image as its very individual and
two members of the band have eye
         contact with the camera which
         engages with the audience. The
         genre of the magazine being
individual rock I like the way that
         this image reflects that.

This image shows the venues flier for the
gig that the band played when I was
collecting the pictures. This would be
used as a sub image on my double page
spread featuring the band as it shows the
band that they were supporting and
where the gig was. This shows the band
up and coming within the music industry
and is different to other images that I
       have collected.
