In this year-long program, students connect farming, fun and food. Prepare ground in the fall, test soil, begin to compost, and then plan, plant and care for an outdoor “mini-farm” at your school site. Students can take produce home, or donate to the local Food Assistance Center, or have the opportunity to harvest and sell veg produce by arranging a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) at school. Opportunities also include to exhibit their project in the spring at the regional NOVA Outside School Environmental Action Showcase in spring, and also at the VA Urban Ag Summit to be held in Arlington in October 2017.

They researched Cypriot cuisine online and in a magazine article. The group also interviewed foreign residents in Cyprus about their mixed cuisine, which combines Cypriot and other cultural foods. The foreign students then made their own project by taking photos and writing stories about the meals in their mixed diets.
