- But today we’re going to focus on the open source side. Both to understand the CFF and to give you some ideas for how to take these practices back into your own projects (even internal projects)
- Many may have heard this before, but at the CFF we hold the lessons of positive sum games in high regard. Robert Wright’s book argues that we have been building from isolation to collaboration throughout history.

- For context, below is the information presented at the September 2016 CF Summit Europe event. The Cloud Foundry project saw 31,000 commits in the last twelve months. New higher number represents a 64.5% increase. More than 1,173 pull requests from non-dedicated committers were merged, and the total contributor-base expanded to more than 2,400 developers. New higher numbers represent a 177% increase in pull requests. Contributor base stayed the same. This activity spans 178 discrete modular projects that are either incubating or active projects within the foundation. New higher number represents a 138% increase in discrete modular projects

- We do this by maintaining a stable, well tested, core… but constantly looking for opportunities to: Extend < process for shared R&D Experiment < hackathons, purposeful project team spikes Learn from our Ecosystem < hundreds of services growing rapidly to thousands. Sense the shared market needs. Virtuous cycle of innovation flowing back into the core project
