Chimpanzees are black or brown furred apes that live in troops in the tropical rainforests of Central Africa. They have arms that are longer than their legs, feet adapted for grasping, and spend most of their time on the ground despite being adept tree climbers. Chimpanzees are intelligent animals that can use sign language and travel through trees using their powerful arms, living off an omnivorous diet of plants and other animals. They are an endangered species extinct in some parts of their former habitat.
