Developed and implemented intense training/competency program for newly hired respiratory therapist, low
volume, high risk procedures and yearly evaluations. Thus decreased the number of patient safety reports and
respiratory staff is highly trained and independent trusted health care team members. Collaborated with
physicians and initiated respiratory driven protocols due to increased patient acuity resulting in improving
patient outcomes by decreasing number of ventilator days, decreasing patient facility transfers by 25% and
having zero VAP for 24 months. Procured new equipment to support increase in acuity patients in Special Care
Nursery and Intensive Care Unit with result of eight CPAPs, six ventilators, and eight heated high flow nasal
cannulas. Responsible for annual budget of $600,000.
