found in soil, plants, foods, and water.
 Sulfur is a nonmetallic chemical element.

is pale yellow in colour, a poor conductor
of electricity and insoluble in water.

pharmaceutical industries.

• Sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in your body.
• Your body needs sulfur to build and fix your DNA and protect your
cells from damage that can lead to serious diseases such as
cancers. Sulfur also assists your body to metabolize food and
contributes to the health of your skin, tendons, and ligaments.
• Sulfur helps to make cells rigid, such as those that are found in the
hair, nails and skin.
• A 70 kg human body contains about 140 grams of sulfur.

I. Too much sulfur can irritate your stomach acid and cause problems with
your digestion. It can also lead to diarrhea. When you have too much
sulfur in your system, your blood becomes acidic, which can leave you
more vulnerable to disease. Too much sulfur can cause skin issues such as
acne or eczema, and it can also contribute to arthritis. Eating a diet high in
sulfur may hinder your ability to fight off infections caused by viruses or
bacteria, such as the flu or pneumonia.
II. You should avoid eating foods high in sulfur if you suffer from asthma or
another respiratory illness. You should also limit your intake of sulfur-rich
foods if you have kidney problems or are undergoing chemotherapy for
cancer. Eating too much sulfur can result in toxic effects in your kidneys,
making them work harder than they should have to. Chemotherapy uses
chemicals to kill cancer cells, which can harm healthy cells too. These
damaged cells will then try to repair themselves, creating more stress on
your kidneys over time.
