About the Institution and scope:
Instituted as a Society in 2002
Preservation and maintenance of all
lakes in the metropolitan areas in
Karnataka.
For sake of convenience and closer
monitoring lakes distributed in the
custody of various departments.
Progress in Lake Development
The Action plan approved by the Hon’ble
High Court of Karnataka Committee provides
for :
Survey and demarcation of the lake.
Eviction of encroachment if any.
Installing boundary fence.
Stop the inflow of raw pollution into the lake.
Strengthening the basic structures of the lake.
De-silting, de-weeding, laying of embankments
and rejuvenation of lakes
Accordingly following progress:
BBMP - 55 lakes     - 21 lakes developed
BDA   - 123 lakes   - 12 lakes developed
KFD   -   5 lakes   -   1 lake developed
LDA   -   4 lakes   - 3 lakes developed
16 NLCP assisted Lake Development projects.
11 NLCP projects are completed.
Lake prioritization list prepared according to
NLCP guidelines.
Technical Committee scrutinizes the DPRs before
submission.
Collection of GPS readings for all the water bodies
in Bangalore district is in progress and GPS
readings for about 500 lakes have been collected.
Digitization of lakes as per Revenue records is
planned.
Basic data of all the lakes are being established.
