In this presentation I describe some novel tools based on Semantic Web technology to help automate the still closed, unshared, and non-repeatable process of data preparation.
This document provides an update on SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative). It summarizes that the SUSHI standard remains stable with continued adoption. It describes the new COUNTER Report Validation Tool and work continuing on SUSHI-Lite, which is emerging as a framework for automated report harvesting using JSON and REST. Live examples of SUSHI-Lite APIs are provided.

This presentation introduces OWLIM semantic repository at DM2E project meeting, held in Vienna in November 2012. Ontotext entered the DM2E consortium as associated partner.
Ontotext is a leading provider of semantic technology solutions, including their OWLIM semantic database. OWLIM can handle large RDF datasets with scalable reasoning and high performance querying. It has been used successfully in cultural heritage domains by organizations like the BBC and British Museum to power semantic search and knowledge bases. OWLIM supports RDFS/OWL reasoning, spatial indexing, replication for high availability, and ranking of nodes based on semantic relationships.
This presentation was provided by Margaret Ellingson of Emory University, during the NISO event "Collaborative Library Resource Sharing: Standards, Developments, and New Models for Cooperating," held October 7 - October 8, 2008

One Discovery Layer, Eight Front Doors: Implementing Blacklight @ IUCourtney McDonald
The document summarizes Indiana University's implementation of the Blacklight discovery layer across its eight campuses to provide a shared interface for its online catalog (IUCAT) while allowing for flexibility across campuses. Key points include: IU has a complex data environment with diverse collections across eight campuses previously only served by a one-size-fits-all interface; in 2011 IU selected Blacklight over VuFind as its discovery layer due to flexibility and development community; implementation began in summer 2011 with a public beta in fall 2012 and full transition in May 2013; campus-specific views and call number browsing were customized; and future work includes enhanced customization, transition to Kuali OLE, and improving browse functions.
This document discusses digital library architecture and proposes a service-based approach. It describes key principles like modularity, federation and distribution. It reviews existing examples like NCSTRL and Dienst that implement this approach. It also outlines ongoing research at Cornell on digital objects, resource discovery and collection definition to advance flexible, extensible and interoperable digital library architectures.
Evaluating and Selecting Library Services PlatformNEWmahongzn
This document summarizes the process undertaken by Loyola University Chicago Libraries to evaluate and select a new library services platform (LSP). An exploratory committee was formed to research available options and structure a selection process. The committee educated staff on LSPs, identified top candidates, developed an RFP, and had vendors do on-site demonstrations using prepared scripts. Feedback was gathered from staff. The committee also interviewed other libraries using the candidate LSPs. A report was produced highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the two finalist platforms - OCLC's WMS/WorldCat Discovery and Ex Libris's Alma/Primo - based on technical services, public services, discovery and more. Loyola ultimately selected Alma/

"As UCL's storage demands grow, the university expects to build a storage foundation that will scale up to 100PB. Looking for a storage solution that was massively scalable yet simple to manage as part of the first phase of the infrastructure build out, UCL will use DDN object storage technology to store up to 600TB of research data. DDN object storage capabilities also will be able to empower UCL researchers to collaborate without having to worry about data reliability, compliance obligations or long-term retention of critical research assets."
