To ensure pastors understand the changing shape and scope of church giving in local church ministry. Most pastors are so close to the situation that it's difficult for them to pause, recognize the changes, and mark the shift in the assumptions and behavior of the person in the pew. My hope is that by highlighting these realities and providing a plan of action, we can ensure the money God intended to fund the work of the church doesn't end up funding someone else's budget.

Ethnic groups have their own societal and philanthropic objectives and they are not always comparable to those of our traditional donors. Philanthropy means more than giving money. African-Americans, Asian-Americans and Hispanic-Heritage-Americans are ready to take their place as major contributors in society, but many organizations do not yet know how to effectively engage their interest. By understanding giving traditions among these emergent charitable groups you will be able to promote the most appropriate giving vehicles, know how to assess and revise your engagement strategies to welcome non-traditional donors into your donor ranks and how to use the right recognition vehicles that will empower these up-and-coming philanthropists.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

2. CHARITABLE GIVING: BYTHE NUMBERS
A recent survey appeared to support the notion that religious
communities and individuals tend to give more to charity than their more
secular counterparts. According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy,
residents of states with the highest levels of religious participation gave a
greater percentage of their discretionary income to charities.
3. CHARITABLE GIVING: BYTHE NUMBERS
By region, the South showed the highest level of giving, while the six
states in New England came in at the bottom of the 50 states.
Residents of Utah gave the highest percentage of their discretionary
income to charity, some 10.6 percent. Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee,
and South Carolina followed.
4. CHARITABLE GIVING: BYTHE NUMBERS
The study noted, however, that when secular giving was included in the
mix, the findings were significantly different. When examining secular
giving only, NewYork jumps from number 18 to number 2, for example.
Pennsylvania shows an even more dramatic change, from 4th place to
40th.
5. CHARITABLE GIVING: BYTHE NUMBERS
Middle-income earners gave a higher percentage of their discretionary
dollars to charity than people in higher-income brackets. People earning
more than $100,000 gave 4.2 percent of their discretionary income to
charity, while those earning between $50,000 and $75,000 came in at 7.6
percent.
