This chapter outlines the research methodology used in the study. A descriptive correlational research design was used to describe parents' perceptions of art courses and determine if those perceptions influence students' academic performance. The population was senior high school students majoring in digital art and their parents at a particular college. A quota sampling method was used to select 50 parents and 25 students. Survey questionnaires were distributed via Google Forms to collect data on parents' perceptions and students' GPAs. Statistical analysis including frequencies, percentages, weighted means, and correlation would then be used to analyze the data.

Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.
1. Chapter 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter will present the procedures to be used in the study. The discussions will be
divided into four general topics: Research Design, Population, Sample size and Sampling
Technique, Instrumentation, Data-Gathering Procedure.
Research Design
Descriptive research method is the approach that researchers opted to do for the study.
Descriptive Approach in nature aims to accurately and systematically describe a population,
situation or phenomenon which is exactly what the researchers needed to provide answers
according to the stated statement of the problems. According to Sagor (2005), descriptive research
“is an inquiry or study that seeks to answer the question of what is currently going on in a specified
arena.” The descriptive approach in the study is appropriate for the very reason that the researchers
will attempt to provide details on perceptions of parents towards the art-related courses in the
Philippines.
By the same token, the study is correlational in nature for the study sought to answer if
parents’ perceptions influence the academic performance of the senior high school students with
digital art strand. Combination of Descriptive and Correlational for this study will increase the
quantity of knowledge, factor increased insights into factors, the discovery of a new causal
relationship, a more accurate formulation of the problem to be solved and many others.
2. Population, Sample Size and Sampling Technique
The participants in the study will be the senior high school students with digital art as strand
in STI College Munoz-Edsa, together with their parents. Researcher limits the respondents to art
major students for the study to stay to its core objective. Quota Sampling is the sampling method
that researchers opted to utilize in this research, which is a type of non-probability sampling
method. This means that elements from the population are chosen on a non-random basis.
Specifically, this study requires fifty (50) parents in total, meaning to say, twenty-five (25) art
students will participate for this endeavor, assuming that every student has two (2) parent or
guardian.
Instrumentation
Survey questionnaires will be the main medium and tool of the researcher to gather data
for this study. The questionnaire of the study will be made up of three (3) sections. The part one
(1) of the survey questionnaire is the profile of the respondents such as age, gender and year level.
Part two (2) has four (3) parts; it is the different perceptions of parents regarding art-related
courses, wherein every question is answerable by putting a check mark on the box with the help
of the scale. And part three (3) is answerable by indicating the Grade-Point Average of the students.
Moreover, the questionnaire will be translated into Google Form by the researcher to be
able to distribute it with ease to the respondents and to fit the current circumstance.
3. Arbitrary Scale 1
Scale Range Descriptive Interpretation
1 0 – 1.50 Not Influential
2 1.51 – 2.50 Rarely Influential
3 2.51 – 3.50 Influential
4 3.31 – 4.50 More Influential
5 4.51 – 5.00 Most Influential
Data-Gathering Procedure
The researcher will gather data by distributing the questionnaire to the respondents via
Google Form. The respondents will be given adequate time to answer the questionnaire in their
free time. After the data needed are obtained from the respondents, tallying, computing and
tabulating will be made. The statistical formula that will be applied in the computation is the
following:
1) Frequencies (f) Percentage (P) will be utilized in describing the profile or the
demographic information of the students and parents.
2) Weighted Mean (WM) will be used in describing the composite of rating of the
respondents per item in the questionnaire:
3) Correlation Analysis is part of the statistics that analyze the relationship between
quantitative variables. This is possible with the aid of SPSS (Statistical Package for
Social Sciences) for Windows.
