Over the last 7 years of being involved in Agile adoptions in South Africa, primarily, at large financial services organisations, I have observed trends that have made the adoption of Agile particularly challenging. These are as follows:
- Lack of business engagement – most Agile adoptions are driven by IT and ignore business
- Program execution – coordination of large programmes
- Team delivery – delivery teams are provided with the necessary constraints, conditions and purpose
- Lack of systems thinking – extending agility to all the supporting functions in the organisation
- Lack of Change management – typically mandated from executives to deliver the promise of Agile, however, leaders underestimate the impact on people
The talk at Regional Scrum Gathering India 2017 was aimed at individuals and organisations that are currently on or starting an Agile adoption by discussing each of these challenges identified and validated through the research as well as providing some options in addressing these challenges.
To be a champion, I think you have to see the big picture. It's not about winning and losing; it's about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It's about embracing the pain that you'll experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. I think people think too hard and get afraid of a certain challenge. Summer Sanders
Attracting & Retaining Top Talent: Millennials In the WorkplaceMcKonly & Asbury, LLP
This webinar will be hosted by McKonly & Asbury Human Resources Director, Suzanne Sentman, and Human Resources Coordinator, Holly Kressler.
Millennials, the cohort of Americans born between 1980 and the mid-2000s, now surpass Baby Boomers as the largest living U.S. generation. In 2013, they represented one-third of the total U.S population and by 2020, they are expected to make up half of the workforce. How are employers responding to this employee population shift?
This webinar will explore the defining characteristics of the Millennial generation and how companies can utilize this information to successfully attract, recruit, and retain these employees. As employers create a culture that supports this generation’s need and desire for career growth and advancement, best practices will be examined in areas such as recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management.
Join David Thompson, PeopleBrand who will explore:
1.Starting with the end in mind – setting goals, objectives, convincing business cases
2.Getting the right people onboard and on-side – the critical stakeholders & partners
3.Understand your audience – who they are and what do they need? - segmentation and persona development
4.Carrying out internal and external perception research
5.Developing your employer value proposition
6.Understanding your candidate and employee touchpoints
7.Getting your own people on board. The authentic employer brand
8.Developing the brand assets - development, testing and validation
9.Measurement and feedback – what can we feasibly and accurately measure?
10.Improve, re-calibrate, improve – it’s an iterative process. Don't stand still.

Recruiters As Ringmasters In The Greatest Show On EarthJennifer McClure
In the employment circus, Recruiters function much like Ringmasters – stage-managing the performance, introducing the various acts and guiding both prospective candidates and hiring managers through what is meant to be an extraordinary and engaging experience.
But much like the challenges for the modern-day Circus, the world of work has changed. It’s no longer sufficient to come to town, set up a Big Top and post flyers in order to fill the seats. Today’s organizations must use new technologies and new methods of creating buzz to attract, recruit and retain a diverse audience in a world full of distractions and increased competition.
As the employment circus has evolved, the role of the Recruiter has also changed. In order to successfully coordinate the amazing and often unpredictable acts within the process, we must now be great storytellers, create audience connection, focus on systems thinking and embrace disruption. Those who master these skills are ready for the role of Ringmaster in the Greatest Show on Earth!

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

In this deck, you will learn the significance of workplace discipline for organisational success. You’ll also learn
• Four (4) workplace discipline methods you should consider
• The best and most practical approach to implementing workplace discipline.
• Three (3) key tips to maintain a disciplined workplace.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
