This document summarizes a pilot study assessing the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based curriculum for reducing stress and improving well-being in college freshmen enrolled in the Arizona Assurance Scholars program. The 15-week seminar incorporated mindfulness practices, neuroscience, positive psychology, and small group presentations. Students completed qualitative and quantitative assessments early, mid, and late in the semester. Results found that students reported social and emotional benefits from the course, including improved stress management, self-awareness, and perspective. Some students also reported physical health benefits.
