Online learning is in its infant stages in our region and both the student and teacher have yet to fully comprehend its dynamics, demands and the pedagogies associated with this mode of learning. The Orientation Activity in UU204 was designed (using standard Moodle tools) to alleviate this problem and also address the issues encountered in the previous offerings; it provides students with a preview of what to expect in this online course in an innovative and fun way. The orientation package uses a game based approach (Amazing Race). When a student has finished unpacking it, they would have answered most of their queries about the course and online learning. Students would also have accessed the support structures available within the course and the University, acquired the skills required of an online learner, and had a hands-on experience for the core Moodle tools that will be extensively used in the course. Preliminary findings via a survey in Moodle suggest that the anticipated outcomes when playing the game are achieved at the end.

Five Ways to Use the ‘Not’ Release Conditions to Impact Teaching & LearningD2L
The wait is over for the long awaited "Not" release conditions in the Brightspace Learning Environment (LE). With the January update to the LE, you are now able to set release conditions for situations where students have not done something. In this webinar we will consider effective uses of these release conditions in various LE tools to encourage student behavior that will increase their likelihood of success in the course.

Presentation prepared by:

This presentation investigates the characteristics of an online graduate degree program in library and information studies (LIS), and its unusual success in retaining students to degree conferral. It has been reported for more than a dozen years that attrition rates for distance education programs are higher than for those programs in which instruction is delivered face to face. In the present study an online master's degree program in LIS that has maintained an overall retention rate higher than 90 percent over five successive entering classes is examined for explanatory characteristics. These characteristics are described and compared with attributes that the literature relates to retention success. Mapping the characteristics of our LIS program to the factors for retention requires description of specific implementations of the program design. We detail the factors and activities recommended for student retention and provide a summary of the activities inherent in the implementation our successful LIS program. Additional question for investigation are identified.

Group work without tears - Valerie Springett - University of Queensland | Sch...Blackboard APAC
The presentation will outline the systematic use of the Blackboard Wiki tool, for a large class (120) consisting of external and internal students, to engage in Group work with success. The added benefit was an enhanced student capacity to engage with digital media in their professional role. This UQ post-graduate course has received annual teaching awards which have reflected high student satisfaction in the evaluations.
Our case study illustrates use of the Wiki tool to enable collaboration within a group of 6 (three from internal and 3 from external mode) to write a formal electronic Report on a national health system that could be used by that government to strengthen its health system.
In a practical sense, participants will be able to access the framework of assessment, the tool set up and the marking criteria, along with student samples and student evaluation.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
How to Create Map Views in the Odoo 17 ERPCeline George
The map views are useful for providing a geographical representation of data. They allow users to visualize and analyze the data in a more intuitive manner.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
