Nuorisotyön tunnustaminen on Euroopan laajuinen prosessi. Rita Bergstain Saksan SALTO Training & Cooperation -resurssikeskuksesta kertoi, millaisia eurooppalaisia prosesseja on meneillään nuorisotyön tunnustamiseksi ja kuinka nuoret voivat hyötyä osallistumisestaan eri aktiviteetteihin. Voiko nuorisotyön kautta opituilla asioilla esim. korvata kursseja tai saada lisäpisteitä kouluun pääsemiseen? Samalla kerrotaan Youthpass-työkalusta, jonka avulla Youth in Action -ohjelman hankkeissa opitut asiat voidaan tehdä näkyviksi ja esitellä esim. työnhaussa.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Petra Ciprić
born on 25/10/1996 in Nova Gradiška, Croatia
participated in the Youth Initiative
CAMPUS SPACE JOURNEY.
The project took place from 01/06/2014
to 30/11/2014 in Municipality of Cernik, Croatia.
Youth Initiatives
Within the European 'Youth in Action' Programme, Youth Initiatives offer young people an opportunity to create
and carry out a non-profit-making, voluntary activity for the benefit of their local community. Through Youth
Initiatives young people 'think global, act local', stimulate social and cultural change in their reality. They acquire
experiences, skills, knowledge and attitudes beneficial for their personal and professional life.
The core of Youth Initiatives lays in youth autonomy and active participation - young people themselves initiate,
prepare, realise and evaluate projects. By putting their own ideas into practice young people express their
creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Participating in a Youth Initiative provides a non-formal education experience. It makes young people aware of
wider, European realities, facilitates the integration of youth in society and through that offers the added value
of a European Dimension. Youth Initiatives are quality-checked regarding content criteria.
Youth Initiatives could also be carried out in a network with European partners and through this creating an
extra platform for exchanging ideas, practice and experiences between local communities all over Europe.

The following pages contain the reflection of the learning outcomes of Petra Ciprić gained in the Youth Initiative
CAMPUS SPACE JOURNEY.
Task / responsibility of Petra Ciprić:
- active participation in joint meetings, project activities, implementation planning and decision making
- creating solutions through ideas
- development of promotional materials and visual identity of the project
- communication with the media
- collection and analysis of data on lifelong learning
Trainings and / or workshops Petra Ciprić took part in:
Petra Ciprić took part in a 3-day educational workshop in the observatory "Star village Mosor". The
workshop included: lectures in the field of astronomy, ecology and sustainable development; observing
the night sky; outdoor activities; education in nature; introducing to Mediterranean biodiversity.
During the Youth Initiative Petra Ciprić developed the following competences.
Communication in mother tongue
Throughout the project activities such as designing and development of educational and informative brochures,
participation in a 3-day educational workshop and lectures, participation in joint meeting of project implementers
and project participants and by looking for data in relevant surveys, statistics and articles, Petra got more
acquainted with the croatian terms used in project cycle management, business, lifelong learning and in
the fields of media design, sustainable development, ecology and astronomy. Petra has also improved her
communication skills and has developed constructive discussion skills.
Communication in foreign languages
Together with other participants, Petra took a part in carrying out the research on the development level of
informal forms of education in other EU countries. The relevant data were available only in English, therefore,
Petra learned many new words and expressions in English and thereby she improved English language
proficiency.
Mathematical competence and basic competences in science and
technology
During the research process on the development of informal forms of education in other EU countries, Petra
was collecting and analysing data in form of numbers; afterwards, she presented data in charts and tables and
drew out conclusions. In this way she developed her calculation skills and analytical skills.
By participating in a 3-day educational workshop, Petra has also been informed of scientific discoveries and
methods in astronomy. She also had opportunity to use professional equipment that is used in observatory

such as professional telescopes and other tracking equipment. This experience helped Petra to learn more
about scientific methods and researches as well as techonologies used by astronomers.
Digital competence
Petra developed her computer skills by working with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and
by using Internet on a daily basis for communication, information exchange and finding relevant data. In order
to promote the project and present her work, Petra often used digital photo camera, projector and printer.
Learning to learn
Throughout the project implementation, Petra was confronted with new challenges: communicating in English,
using advanced functions of computer programmes, creating a publications for a wider public, presenting
of project to local community, putting in action each of the project activities, planning, dealing with budgets,
communication with the media, writing press releases to the media. These were tasks for which she had to
discover new knowledge - as on her own, so with the help of her team.
Petra also gained a lot of new knowledge within the main topic of the project - importance of informal education
and importance and responsibility of involving youth in community life.
Social and civic competences
Petra experienced how to work best in team, she participated in decision making and she learned how to deal
with conflicts. Through interaction with other young people she experienced how to develop fellowship and
tolerance. During the project implementation she also learned to identify community problems and propose
the solutions. This experience has helped her to increase self-confidence and to participate more actively in
the life of her community.
Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship
Taking part in implemention of all project activities, particularly in following: creating a project slogan, project
logo, leaflets and brochures allowed Petra to boost her creativity and innovativeness. Petra also gained basic
knowledge and developed practical skills in Project Cycle Management which gives her ability to develop
project ideas in future and turn them into action.
Cultural awareness and expression
By taking part in a 3-day educational workshop in the observatory "Star village Mosor", Petra had opportunity
to interact with young people from other parts of Croatia, and also to meet people from other countries
