The Celts emerged during the late Bronze Age around 800 BC as a war-like, ethnolinguistic society that conquered much of Europe. They had a warrior culture that believed possessing an enemy's head gave you their power. The Celts were originally pagan but were converted to Catholicism by the Romans. Though the Romans conquered Britain in 43 AD, they never conquered Ireland. The Celts expanded throughout Europe to areas like Gaul, Iberia, the Northern Alps, Germania, and Poland. Their inventions included bagpipes and their celebrations honored different gods. Celtic society was organized into clans, fines, with decisions made by druid priests and nobles.
