Misty May-Treanor is a retired American beach volleyball player who won three gold medals at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Summer Olympics partnered with Kerri Walsh Jennings. She grew up in a sporty family in Santa Monica and began playing beach volleyball at age 8 with her father. Misty was a standout indoor volleyball player in high school and college before switching to focus on beach volleyball. She and Kerri Walsh Jennings dominated beach volleyball, facing close matches against China but ultimately winning gold each Olympics through talent, hard work, and dedication to the sport.
